From the VOMITORIUM
Okay readers, let us have a small test this day……who said when he announced his retirement from the US Congress?
“too much partisanship and not enough progress” in Congress, and said his decision was motivated by a belief that he could “best contribute to society in another way: creating jobs by helping grow a business, helping guide an institution of higher learning, or helping run a worthy charitable endeavor.”
(Pause here for a moment of thought)………and now…..(a moment for rib splitting laughter)……
Sounds pretty much like every one of the self centered little pricks when they decide not to run again….it is either the above pile of bovine fecal matter or some lame crap about spending more time with their family…..but in this case it was uttered by an ever popular Senator from Indiana, Evan Bayh…..he was a darling of the right wing of the Democratic Party…….in reality he was a coward because he did NOT think he could win re-election because of the toxic atmosphere in the political winds of 2010…..but after that he is a man of the people after all and will do good things for the country from the outside of the political arena…..so what has the golden boy been up to since he tucked his tail and ran?
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has hired former Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) to participate in a regulatory reform “road show” of speeches, events and media appearances, according to a memo obtained by iWatch News.
“The Chamber’s communications professionals, working closely with our federation and government affairs teams, have done an excellent job educating the public and policymakers about the regulatory overload the nation currently faces, its damaging impact on our economy and jobs, and the urgent need for change,” President Thomas Donohue wrote in a June 2 memo to the Chamber’s board of directors, supporters and friends. “I’m pleased to report that the Chamber has recently enlisted former White House Chief of Staff Andy Card and former Senator Evan Bayh who will carry a bipartisan message on regulatory reform out around the country.”
The Chamber is a group that has spent millions trying to get Repubs elected to office and fights hard against any type of regulation and fairness……
So the Chamber has hired Bayh, among others, to fight for the right of corporations to do as they wish without accountability? Bayh is NO different than the other congressional scum that sells out everything for the promise of cash…….none of this surprises me….I said at the time of his announcement that he was running from the Senator because he could not get re-elected because it has always been about him and not about what is best for the country…….and that he was a typical American politician…..self-centered.
P.S. While I was writing this I saw a tweet……
Bayh is NO different than the other congressional scum that sells out everything for the promise of cash…….none of this surprises me….
Me neither. Who cares about clean air and bodies of water untouched by gushing crude? The market will self-regulate. Wow. I couldn’t even type that last sentence with a straight face.
Spinny, I know it is difficult at times to see a so-called Democrat go to the dark side……but then I think that all those little pricks would do no different.
I suppose I can imagine (up to a point) how you feel and you may well be right about this guy, I wouldn’t know…
However, I would like to point out two things raised by your post and comments thus far: 1) There is absolutely NO evidence whatsoever that most politicians are any different from each other whatever flag they sail under and 2) No, the markets will not self regulate in the way most people want unless you force them to do so (which is not that difficult), but there is absolutely NO evidence whatsoever that legislation and regulation make ANY difference to anyone except to increase the cost of everything and annoy almost everyone – with VERY rare exceptions, it simply doesn’t work!
If that second point were not so, then I MIGHT change my mind and support government and legislation, but there’s NOTHING to equal being streetwise and informed in your own defence and NOTHING to equal the power of general boycott of particular corporations and/or individual products in protecting your environment and way of life!
A bi-partisan message indeed. More like a bi-partisan face on a very partisan message.
lb, after all he was a conserv Dem, which in my mind is no different than a Repub….so like I said…it does not surprise me at all….
Chuq, don’t be such a bloody left-wing ideologist. There is good and bad as well as right and wrong on both sides of things and I’m sure you know that perfectly well, but it’s unlikely that the good or the right will surface often in your broken system.
You get what your system almost guarantees you will get, so it seems to me unfair to blame most of the individuals for being no better or worse than your electoral system dictates.
I just cannot see why people seem to expect that the wealthy would do anything other than protect their wealth. Why would they? Equally, I don’t really see why they should give damn about you. What they SHOULD do is to support their nation and that means ALL its citizens in equal measure – like education, occasional help and support for those who help themselves whilst caring for those (relative few) who through no fault of their own, cannot do so themselves. Above all it’s good that the wealthy remain wealthy – just not at the EXPENSE of others!
It’s all about fairness and give and take, but that to my mind doesn’t equate to the rich giving and the poor taking. If the economy is PROPERLY managed and the people are not lazy and unrealistic, then there is little need for all the welfare you go on about, but people should PAY their dues and people should RECEIVE their dues when they really need it, or they retire etc.
Sadly, your economy (just like the UK’s, but for different reasons) has NOT been managed properly – not even CLOSE.
Oh I agree with you on just about every point…the economy, the people and all…….my main point was the out right bullshit that these spout to look noble knowing full well they are NOT that noble………the lie about time to move on…yes, but because he was probably gonna get the shit kicked out of him at the vote……..not that he wanting to help blind kids cross the street or spend more time shagging balls with the kids……..this is most of them, if not all…..
Of course – but it’s the same the world over and I can’t really see why you get angry or upset by it – it’s just the way our “democratic” systems work (or not, depending on your point of view).
I mean, would you expect the guy to stand up and say, “I’m an asshole and no good at this, so I don’t suppose I’ll work again, but I’m gonna go and try to get a job f*cking up something else”? It’s like asking some guy in court if he was screwing his secretary when his wife doesn’t know about it yet – is he going to say, “Yes”? Would you?
It worked for Edwin Edwards in Louisiana……he basically told everyone that he was a crook and that he was motivated to make himself irreplaceable…..all I am saying is at least say that you want to make as much money as possible…be damn with principles…..or something along those lines…..
