WHY?

I wish I had more but that is the question that needs asking of the police officers that did this to an old man……

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo say they are disturbed and sickened by a video that led to the suspension of two Buffalo police officers without pay. The graphic video, which can be seen here, shows officers shoving a 75-year-old man to the ground, leaving him motionless as a pool of blood forms under his head. “This incident is wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful,” Cuomo tweeted Thursday night. He said he spoke to Brown, and they “agree that the officers involved should be immediately suspended pending a formal investigation.” Brown said the man, who was shoved around 8pm Thursday after approaching a group of officers during a George Floyd protest, was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, the New York Times reports

“Police officers must enforce—NOT ABUSE—the law,” Cuomo wrote. The video was posted Thursday night by WBFO and had been viewed more than 47 million times by Friday morning. Shortly before the video was posted, a police spokesman claimed the man “tripped and fell” during a “skirmish involving protesters,” the Buffalo News reports. Brown described the incident as “disheartening” after “days of peaceful protests and several meetings between myself, police leadership and members of the community.” Earlier Thursday, the mayor told a group of around 200 protesters that he had directed the city’s police department to formally ban the use of choke holds

Watch the video but be warned it is troubling for some…..

Personally the son of a bitch needs to be locked up for 20 damn years to think about his actions…..the cop (no he is not a cop he is a fucking thug) not the old man….in case there was any confusion

There is NO excuse for this and all that resort to unnecessary violence should be made to pay and pay dearly.  PERIOD!

Stop Pretending Reform Will Help

Politicians have lined up, especially Dems, to call for reform….to include former president Obama….

Barack Obama has told young people of colour “your lives matter” in public remarks that supporters welcomed as an antidote to Donald Trump’s racially charged and divisive threats to crack down on civil dissent.

America’s first black president on Wednesday expressed faith in young people in the US and said he remained “optimistic” about the future despite the police killing of George Floyd and mounting crises that Trump’s critics say leave the country crying out for leadership.

Obama spoke at an event by the My Brother’s Keeper alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, that was called “Reimagining Policing in the Wake of Continued Police Violence.” It was the first public appearance by the 44th president since Floyd was killed by a white Minneapolis police officer kneeling on his neck, sparking nine days of nationwide protests that have been mostly peaceful but marred by some incidents of violence.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/03/obama-george-floyd-remarks-protests-trump

Nice words….but he had 8 years in White House to accomplish something…..and here we are.

Then there is the new ad from candidate Biden….

Again he was in the White House for 8 years and yet…here we are again.

Then there are all the pundits that have the answers to the problems….they are paid to have these…so take most of them with a grain of salt.

Let’s be honest….the police have immunity from prosecution in some cases and it was given by the Supreme Court….

Qualified immunity, created by the Supreme Court in the 1970s, shields police and other government officials from liability in civil rights lawsuits when the illegality of their actions was not “clearly established” at the time of the offense.

The Supreme Court Has a Chance To End Qualified Immunity and Prevent Cases Like George Floyd’s

Not to worry there will be a mass of bills to change things when it involves the police and each one will be just to pad a resume for their next election…..or it it makes it to the Senate it will die a slow death for the Senate is where great bills go to die.

What I am saying is that ‘reforms’ will not change a damn thing….why?  They are easily swept aside but another administration.

The first thing we need to do is….stop blaming those ‘bad apples’….why?

There is a long long legacy of brutality by the police…https://www.salon.com/2020/06/03/bad-apples-are-not-the-problem-americas-police-have-a-long-legacy-of-brutal-misconduct/

Let us not forget those state legislatures……they were slow if not slower than the national leaders in ceasing the brutality……

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) —

A wave of police killings of young black men in 2014 prompted 24 states to quickly pass some type of law enforcement reform, but many declined to address the most glaring issue: police use of force. Six years later, only about a third of states have passed laws on the question.

The issue is at the heart of nationwide protests set off by the May 25 death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white police officer in Minneapolis pressed a knee into Floyd’s neck for several minutes while he pleaded for air.

Now, some lawmakers and governors are hoping to harness the renewed wave of anger to push through changes on the use of force they couldn’t manage after 2014, a year that included the deaths at the hands of police of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Eric Garner in New York and 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland.

“We’re absolutely at a point in time where we have to do more,” said Maryland state Del. Vanessa Atterbeary, a Democrat who will chair a working group announced this week that will take up use-of-force standards for that state.

Pushback from politically influential law enforcement unions prompted some states’ use-of-force proposals to stall, while others have opted for voluntary programs to change policing practices. In some states, lawmakers have even broadened the powers of police, such as increasing penalties for those who attack officers or, as in Tennessee and Utah, limiting the power of independent review boards that investigate police conduct.

I do not have all the answers but a start would be to recall all the military equipment and let the police use the law as the weapon not the arms made for war.

Training in law enforcement and community not tactics for going to war.

One attempt to do something (to illustrate my point)…..

H.R.1232 — 114th Congress (2015-2016)All Information (Except Text)

Bill History – Congressional Record References

And it ended with a thud of non-action.

Another attempt from the same timeline….

The Demilitarization of Police Act requires law enforcement agencies to disclose and justify the need and cost of any military equipment they own (e.g. machine guns, armored vehicles, night-vision scopes, camouflage fatigues and flash-bang grenades). Law enforcement agencies must provide the [legislature/council/commission] at least 90 days notice before any future acquisition of military equipment.

Time to end for good the 1033 Program which is the way police gets their weapons of war to use on the civilian population.

Just a few reasons why I do not trust the politicians and pundits and their calls for reform…..

This country needs CHANGE…..not reform.

The call for reforms is what you do when you want nothing to be done.

Enough talk!

A New Word–Antifa

There is a new word that is making the rounds in news reports that the media is trying to slyly blame for the violence.

The word is “ANTIFA” (caps for effect only)…..

Read and learn

It came about in 2017 in Charlottesville when protesters clashed with bigot white boys….and the media went batcrap crazy with news of these clashes…..my thoughts on Charlottesville–2017…..https://gulfsouthfreepress.wordpress.com/2017/09/11/antifa-out-of-the-shadows/

Personally I was pleased to see these folks show up and take on the fascist scum….and now the word ANTIFA is once again in the news……and once again the old professor will help you understand these protesters.

The group that Donald the Orange has decided he will add to the terrorism list….a foolish threat from a foolish immature toad.

But who are these people/groups?

There many ways to tell who the people are and what they want….most of the definitions are not accurate but they will be used ad nauseum….like this one…

The anti-fascist protest movement known as antifa gained new prominence in the United States after the white supremacist Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA, in August 2017. In Charlottesville and at many subsequent events held by white supremacists or right-wing extremists, antifa activists have aggressively confronted what they believe to be authoritarian movements and groups. While most counter-protestors tend to be peaceful, there have been several instances where encounters between antifa and the far-right have turned violent.

https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounders/who-are-antifa

Online battles between far right groups and anti-fascists – or “Antifa” – are now regularly spilling out onto the streets of America. But who are Antifa and what do they represent? Anisa Subedar and Mike Wendling went to the West coast of America to find out for Seriously… podcast Political Violence in America. Here are seven facts you need to know.

1. How long have Antifa been around?

Some Antifa groups date the origins of their movement to fights against European fascists in the 1920s and 1930s. Mark Bray, author of Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, says the modern American Antifa movement began in the 1980s with a group called Anti-Racist Action. Its members confronted neo-Nazi skinheads at punk gigs in the American Midwest and elsewhere. By the early 2000s the Antifa movement was mostly dormant – until the rise of Donald Trump and the alt-right.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/X56rQkDgd0qqB7R68t6t7C/seven-things-you-need-to-know-about-antifa

There is lots of disinformation about Antifa circling the social media accounts.

A compilation of arguments addressing some of the claims and conspiracy theories that have been circulating about “outside agitators” and “ANTIFA” in recent days. These were originally posted as social media threads by Crimethinc and It’s Going Down.

https://libcom.org/news/outside-agitators-antifa-conspiracy-theories-disinformation-01062020

This is another example of the far right’s attempts to discredit Antifa….

As if tensions weren’t high enough with the George Floyd protests taking place across America, an ominous message circulated Sunday night that seemed to hint at more violence to come—and it appeared to be linked to antifa. “Tonight’s the night, Comrades,” the @ANTIFA_US account said in the tweet. “Tonight we say ‘F— The City’ and we move into the residential areas … and we take what’s ours.” That account has since been suspended by Twitter, and NBC News reports that it was fake. It wasn’t tied to anyone involved with the antifa movement, but to Identity Evropa, a white nationalist group that Twitter has had to contend with before regarding fraudulent accounts, per a Twitter spokesperson. “This account violated our platform manipulation and spam policy, specifically the creation of fake accounts,” a Twitter rep tells Axios.

“We took action after the account sent a Tweet inciting violence and broke the Twitter rules,” the rep adds. NBC notes there was other misinformation that started circulating Sunday night revolving around a supposed “cover-up” or “blackout” of DC protests, but that was also a hoax.

I have defended the actions of Antifa and now it is good to see someone else doing the same…..

Antifa is once again being attacked by elements of the right, elements of the Left and the center. Those on the right see an anarchist anti-capitalist bogeyman. The critics on the left see nihilism and a misunderstanding of the definition of fascism. Those in the liberal/conservative center see an undefinable and unquantifiable element in the body politic that prefers violence to debate and vandalism to voting. All of these criticisms are both wrong and right. Precisely because it is not an organized group and has no politics beyond challenging those it considers fascists or very sympathetic to fascism, Antifa opens itself to these and other misunderstandings. There is no single spokesperson or committee to defend and explain it. Because it so loosely defined, it opens itself up to multiple definitions, many of which are lies.

In Defense of Antifa

By the way…..all that crap Trump spouted about Antifa last week was just, like most of his stuff, bullshit…..

The FBI’s Washington Field Office “has no intelligence indicating Antifa involvement/presence” in the violence that occurred on May 31 during the D.C.-area protests over the murder of George Floyd, according to an internal FBI situation report obtained exclusively by The Nation. That same day, President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he would designate “Antifa” a terrorist organization, even though the government has no existing authority to declare a domestic group a terrorist organization, and antifa is not an organized group. Following the president’s tweet, Attorney General William Barr said in a statement, “The violence instigated and carried out by Antifa and other similar groups in connection with the rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly.”

The FBI report, however, states that “based on CHS [Confidential Human Source] canvassing, open source/social media partner engagement, and liaison, FBI WFO has no intelligence indicating Antifa involvement/presence.” The statement followed a list of violent acts like throwing bricks at police and the discovery of a backpack containing explosive materials, which were flagged by the FBI under a “Key Updates” section of the report. The FBI has been issuing such reports daily since the weekend, according to a Bureau source, who added that none of these documents contained any evidence of antifa violence.

One last thought…take the word “antifa” and turn it around to “fitna”….kinda cool the definition of the word in Arabic….Fitna (or fitnah, pl. fitan; Arabic: فتنة , فتن‎: “temptation, trial; sedition, civil strife, conflict…….

Kinda fits huh?  (This should give those idiot conspiracy theorist something to work with)

That Fool On The Hill

This Hill would be Capital Hill……

Donald the Orange has been beating his flabby chest like a sex crazed primate (my apologies to most primates) making sounds like a pathetic dictator searching for approval……

He has been making threats all to influence what is left of the morons that support him…..threatening to shoot….to declare Americans as terrorists….etc…..

… the leader of the entity that expects my pledge of allegiance threatened to shoot—specifically—looters. Before we go into what happened last night and Saturday morning and is on track to continue through the week, let me remember some historic milestones in looting.

“You Loot; We Shoot”

Trump invokes memories for me of COINTELPRO (look it up)….when he wants to label Americans as terrorists…..

Civil liberties advocates and progressive voices threw up immediate flags of alarm on Sunday afternoon after President Donald Trump threatened to officially designate “ANTIFA”—a moniker that stands for anti-fascist but is not, as informed people were forced to point out, an actualorganization—as a “terrorist organization.”

In recent years, the term ANTIFA has become a broad stand-in phrase used to describe certain left-wing activists—including some anarchist and anti-fascist groups or networks. As protests and uprisings have occurred in cities nationwide over recent days in the wake of last week’s killing of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis, Trump and other officials have blamed so-called “Antifa instigators”—mostly without providing any solid evidence—with stoking violence or carrying out property destruction.

After Trump tweeted Sunday that “The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization,” critics immediately saw it as a blatant effort to use the authority of such a designation as a way for Trump to target lawful and constitutionally-protected free speech and the right to assemble.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/05/31/incoherent-it-dangerous-trump-threatens-designate-antifa-which-isnt-actual-group

As white America losses some of its support for social movements because of the protests….there is a reason according to shrinks that is….

New research indicates that extreme protest tactics tend to undermine a movement’s popular support in the United States by alienating both neutral observers and supporters. The findings have been published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

“I’m interested in social change and progress, and was curious what social movement strategies might be most effective at influencing popular opinion,” said Matthew Feinberg, the corresponding author of the new study and an assistant professor of organizational behavior at the University of Toronto.

The researchers conducted six experiments with 3,399 participants in total, in which they assessed how different types of protest behaviors influenced support for a variety of progressive and conservative social causes, including the Black Lives Matter movement and the anti-abortion movement. They found that more extreme behaviors — such as the use of inflammatory rhetoric, blocking traffic, and vandalism — consistently resulted in reduced support for social movements.

https://www.psypost.org/2020/05/new-psychology-research-finds-extreme-protest-actions-reduce-popular-support-for-social-movements-56906

That findings can explain why then extremists are infiltrating the protests…..

As officials warned that extremist groups may have infiltrated the protests over George Floyd’s death, President Trump on Sunday asserted that the US would declare antifa a terrorist group. “The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization,” he tweeted, after days of tweets about “LAW & ORDER!” and “ANARCHISTS” and the need to use the “unlimited power of our Military.” The New York Times notes Trump has no clear authority to actually do that, seeing as antifa, which stands for anti-fascist, is not an organization but “a diffuse movement of left-wing protesters.” Even if it were an organization, there is no law granting the federal government authority to declare a domestic group a terrorist organization; it can only do so for foreign entities. (Politico has more on the ins and outs of this.) After Trump’s tweet, Attorney General William Barr said the FBI would partner with state and local police to identify domestic terrorists who are instigating riots.

The AP reports that federal officials and experts who track extremist groups have both warned that far-left and far-right groups appear to be at work “stoking violence” amid otherwise peaceful protests, and that foreign agents might be behind a disinformation campaign on social media aimed at increasing political tensions. One expert explains to the Washington Post that while the role of outside groups is likely being exaggerated by the administration, it is true that some people simply use situations like this as an excuse to loot stores while others infiltrate the protests in order to turn them violent and thus discredit them. That’s what some Minnesota officials think is happening, warning, per CNN, that white supremacist “agitators” appear to be attending protests in the state. But one expert says she sees evidence of groups hoping to start a second civil war: “They want to co-opt [the protests] in order to start their war. They see themselves as being on the side of protesters and that the protesters themselves are useful in causing anarchy.”

All this smacks of authoritarian policies and thinking…..and the protesters are not impressed or intimidated by the Orangeman’s bluster…..

Curfews, mass arrests and police terror have not quelled the powerful movement of youth and workers of all races and ethnicities in response to the May 25 police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If anything, Trump’s fascist tirade from the Rose Garden on Monday, in which he asserted dictatorial powers and threatened to illegally deploy the military to crush the protests, has stiffened the resolve and heightened the anger of the hundreds of thousands marching in cities across the country.

Government From A Bunker

Closing Thought–02Jun20

By now I am sure that most intelligent people have heard that Trump was rushed to a bunker for his safety on Friday.

Secret Service agents rushed President Trump to a White House bunker on Friday night as hundreds of protesters gathered outside the executive mansion, some of them throwing rocks and tugging at police barricades, the AP reports. Trump spent nearly an hour in the underground shelter, which was designed for use in emergencies like terrorist attacks, according to a Republican close to the White House who was not authorized to publicly discuss private matters and spoke on condition of anonymity. The account was confirmed by an administration official who also spoke on condition of anonymity. The abrupt decision by the agents underscored the rattled mood inside the White House, where the chants from protesters in Lafayette Park could be heard all weekend and Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers struggled to contain the crowds.

Friday’s protests were triggered by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after he was pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer. The demonstrations in Washington turned violent and appeared to catch officers by surprise. They sparked one of the highest alerts on the White House complex since the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001. The president and his family have been shaken by the size and venom of the crowds, according to the Republican. Trump traveled to Florida on Saturday to view the first manned space launch from the US in nearly a decade. He returned to a White House under virtual siege, with protesters—some violent—gathered just a few hundred yards away through much of the night. Demonstrators returned Sunday afternoon, facing off against police at Lafayette Park into the evening.

Here is a closing thought for the day…..all those “other” leaders that were fond of bunkers….

And now for the latest…..

Image

A real leader would have tried to see what the noise was about….instead this fool runs to his underground bunker like the coward he is.

Remember his church fiasco?

Well the police forced a priest away from the church that Trump used in his photo op….

Early Monday evening (June 1), President Donald Trump stood before the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church in downtown Washington and held aloft a Bible for cameras.

The photo opportunity had an eerie quality: Trump said relatively little, positioned stoically in front of the boarded-up church, which had been damaged the day before in a fire during protests sparked by the death of George Floyd on May 25 in Minneapolis.

The church appeared to be completely abandoned.

It was, in fact, abandoned, but not by choice: Less than an hour before Trump’s arrival, armored police used tear gas to clear hundreds of peaceful demonstrators from Lafayette Square park, which is across the street from the church.

Authorities also expelled at least one Episcopal priest and a seminarian from the church’s patio.

Ahead of Trump Bible photo op, police forcibly expel priest from St. John’s church near White House

This is pathetic and yet he still has his supporters among the religious….that is also pathetic.

Violence–Blame Democrats

The nation is witnessing the outcry of the people through the numerous protests on our city streets….

We could go into all sorts of sociological theories to point the finger at the culprit….but leave it to Donald the Orange to assign blame…..

Nope not Obama, per se…..not the media (for a change)….not even China…..this time it is the democrats…..

As protests erupted across the US for the fourth consecutive night over the death of George Floyd on Friday evening, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to urge people in Minnesota, where Floyd was killed, to vote out Democrats.

“Time for a change! #2020,” Trump said, retweeting the account @YoungDems4Trump, which listed the party affiliations of several Democratic elected officials in Minnesota.

As usual the person that some call “Mr. President” blames everybody handy or the last person he had on that meager mind….

This situation needs a strong leader of the American people and we get a dunce in the corner.

Then there are those weak kneed sycophants of Donald that carry his water for him….spineless ones like Ted Cruz….

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tried to defend President Donald Trump’s constant rants about “Obamagate.”

It didn’t go well.

Trump has repeatedly railed against former President Barack Obama, claiming “Obamagate” is the “biggest political crime in American history” without offering any details on what that supposed crime is.

When asked by a reporter to explain it earlier this month, Trump simply said, “You know what the crime is.”

On Wednesday, MSNBC analyst and editor of The Recount John Heilemann replied to Trump’s latest “Obamagate” tweet with another request for an explanation.

That’s when Cruz stepped in it:

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ted-cruz-trump-obamagate_n_5ecf3d18c5b649a4e52f6e62

This is assassination by innuendo……a classic propaganda trick….to accuse without proof and let the listener fill in the blanks.

Simpletons….being led by a mental midget disguised as the president.

At what point do Americans wake up to this fact?

Personally I feel it is too wide an expansion to be healed…..and the republic’s end is near if something does not change….and I see no chance of that happening……

Since the founding of the United States, politicians and pundits have warned that partisanship is a danger to democracy. George Washington, in his Farewell Address, worried that political parties, or factions, could “allow cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men” to rise to power and subvert democracy. More recently, many political observers are concerned that increasing political polarization on left and right makes compromise impossible, and leads to the destruction of democratic norms and institutions.

A new study, however, suggests that the main threat to our democracy may not be the hardening of political ideology, but rather the hardening of one particular political ideology. Political scientists Steven V. Miller of Clemson and Nicholas T. Davis of Texas A&M have released a working paper titled “White Outgroup Intolerance and Declining Support for American Democracy.” Their study finds a correlation between white American’s intolerance, and support for authoritarian rule. In other words, when intolerant white people fear democracy may benefit marginalized people, they abandon their commitment to democracy.

Amy’s Racist Tendencies

Biden is looking for that perfect candidate to be his VP….and at one time I thought Amy Klobuchar would be that perfect candidate….then the George Floyd debacle happened in Minnesota.

Why would that make a difference?

It seems that Amy had a helluva time attracting people of color to her campaign….and now she has crapped in her chili….

For you see the cop that killed Floyd was the same cop that Amy refused to prosecute in an earlier case of police misconduct.

Klobuchar has not commented publicly on her prospects as a vice presidential candidate. But complicating her appeal to the party’s left flank was the criticism she faced in the closing days of her presidential campaign from Black Lives Matter protesters and others angered by the disputed murder conviction of black teenager Myon Burrell during her days as a prosecutor.

An Associated Press investigation raised questions about the conviction of Burrell in the 2002 killing of an 11-year-old girl. The controversy sparked a protest that shut down the final Minnesota rally of her presidential campaign.

The Floyd case has put the national spotlight back on Klobuchar’s days as a prosecutor, particularly as it became clear Derek Chauvin, the officer involved in Floyd’s death, was involved in the death of another citizen while Klobuchar was prosecutor. Chauvin was one of six officers who fired on and killed Wayne Reyes in 2006 after Reyes reportedly aimed a shotgun at police after stabbing his friend and girlfriend. While the death happened during Klobuchar’s tenure at the helm of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, the case did not go to a grand jury until after she left the office and became a senator.

Riots!

Minneapolis is the latest American city to suffer from the death of a black man at the hands of the police and it has resulted in protests and now riots….and of curse Donald the Orange has done what he does best…..makes the matter worse……

The governor of Minnesota on Thursday activated the National Guard, and 500 soldiers will respond to Minneapolis, which has seen protests every night since Tuesday over the Monday death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, after a white cop kneeled on his neck. Also Thursday, the mayor of Minneapolis declared a state of emergency, KSTP reports. Looting, violence, smashed windows, and fires were widespread, and Fox 9 reports that after the Third Precinct police station started burning, the city warned that if gas lines had been cut the building could explode. CBS Minnesota reports protesters broke in and took over the building late Thursday.

Meanwhile, in Washington, President Trump—who earlier declared justice would be served in Floyd’s death—on Thursday referred to the Minneapolis protesters as “thugs,” the Raw Story reports. “I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right,” Trump tweeted, adding, “These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

The presidential words will do NOTHING yo make this situation better or at least calmer……

My thought on the riots.

I am not opposed to civil disobedience….but there is a time for violence……this situation needs the focus to be on the police that murdered this man and not on the riots from the anger.

I understand the anger and the frustration because there will most likely be little to no justice for the death….but the calm protests are overshadowed by the violence…the media needs the riots to make the conversation for them….a calm and peaceful protest is only good for a 30 second spot….while the violence can be analyzed for many many day and many spots.

This system of “justice” needs to be changed….and until we rid the world of Trump in the next election it is just wishful thinking.

When Did Sudan Become Subservient?

Most Americans have no idea of the violence and problems brewing in the North African nation of Sudan…..and that is why I am here….to inform and educate.

I ask the question in the title because of something I read in the news……

The head of Sudan’s ruling military council was given a “green light” by Saudi Arabia and its regional allies to crack down on protesters camped for weeks outside the military’s headquarters, a Sudanese military expert has told Middle East Eye.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because of security concerns, the well-informed expert said he understood that plans to destroy the protest camp in Khartoum had been discussed during recent visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the Transitional Military Council (TMC).

“The breaking up of the sit-in was one of the main points on the agenda that was discussed,” the expert said. “Unless he got the green light from his regional allies he would not have been able to commit such a crime.”

https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/sudan-crackdown-saudis-gave-green-light-assault-protesters

When did the Saudis become the “masters”?

The blood thirsty Saudis have made sure that the Sudanese government will need their help……the Sudanese government is being punished by the African bloc for their ruthless handling , thanx to the Saudis, of the protesters……

The African Union (AU) on Thursday suspended Sudan until the establishment of civilian rule, intensifying global pressure on its new military leaders to stand down after the worst violence since Omar al-Bashir’s fall in April.

Ethiopia – where the continental bloc is based – planned a mediation effort, with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed due on Friday to meet members of both the ruling Transitional Council (TMC) and the opposition, a diplomatic source said.

Both sides had been in talks over a civilian-led transition to democracy. But their already faltering negotiations collapsed when security forces stormed a sit-in protest camp on Monday, killing dozens of people.

It appears as it can get worse for the protesters in Sudan for they have vowed to continue their onslaught…..

Sudan’s pro-democracy movement vowed Thursday to press its campaign of civil disobedience until the ruling military council is ousted and killers of protesters are brought to justice, as security forces fanned out across the capital and appeared to thwart any new demonstrations.

Sudan analysis…….

Sudan’s stability is integral to the interests of several countries, some of which are interestingly rivals with one another. The GCC and its Egyptian ally are competing with Turkey for influence in the country, which is essentially an extension of the ongoing “GCC Cold War” between Qatar and the rest of its notional partners in the bloc over Doha’s patronage of the Ankara-allied Muslim Brotherhood that the remaining members of the organization and Cairo regard as terrorists. Bashir had previously allowed Turkey to rebuild the historic port of Suakin, which Egypt and the GCC consider to be part of a secret plot to set up a Turkish naval base in the Red Sea and has fueled speculation that they might have backed the early stages of the Color Revolution as part of a campaign of pressure to get him to reconsider this deal. Russia and China are also Sudan’s close partners, too, with the former seeing it as its point of entry into the rest of the continent and one of the three states pivotally comprising its “African Trilateral” while the latter needs the country for its envisaged bi-coastal “Sahelian-Saharan Silk Road“.

The Saudis are inserting themselves through out the region…..their war on Yemen, their blockade of Qatar and their shady deals with Israel….and now they move into North Africa.

Time for them, the Saudis, to be slapped down…… their arrogant meddling is causing more problems than it solves.

Today In History–1902

We all have seen the violence that erupts in some country’s legislative bodies….the fist fights, the kicking, the head butts, the chair throwing, the yelling, the throwing of other objects besides fists….

And we Americans are so glad that it does not happen in this country…that we are more “civilized” than some countries…..

Think again…….

The most infamous floor brawl in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives erupted as Members debated the Kansas Territory’s pro-slavery Lecompton Constitution late into the night of February 5-6. Shortly before 2 a.m., Pennsylvania Republican Galusha Grow and South Carolina Democrat Laurence Keitt exchanged insults, then blows. “In an instant the House was in the greatest possible confusion,” the Congressional Globe reported. More than 30 Members joined the melee. Northern Republicans and Free Soilers joined ranks against Southern Democrats. Speaker James Orr, a South Carolina Democrat, gaveled furiously for order and then instructed Sergeant-at-Arms Adam J. Glossbrenner to arrest noncompliant Members. Wading into the “combatants,” Glossbrenner held the House Mace high to restore order. Wisconsin Republicans John “Bowie Knife” Potter and Cadwallader Washburn ripped the hairpiece from the head of William Barksdale, a Democrat from Mississippi. The melee dissolved into a chorus of laughs and jeers, but the sectional nature of the fight powerfully symbolized the nation’s divisions. When the House reconvened two days later, a coalition of Northern Republicans and Free Soilers narrowly blocked referral of the Lecompton Constitution to the House Territories Committee. Kansas entered the Union in 1861 as a free state.

Of course a redneck from Mississippi had to be part of this “brawl”…..

We can take some solace that it was that one time and we moved beyond that….

Nice dream…but it struck again…..

The we come to 1902 But this time it was the Senate……

The Senate floor became a fight arena again on February 22, 1902. South Carolina Democratic Sen. John McLaurin accused fellow South Carolinian and Democrat Ben Tillman, the senior member, of making “a willful, malicious, and deliberate lie.”

Tillman turned around and punched McLaurin in the jaw. At that point a riot broke out on the floor as members attempted to separate the two southerners. Both men, as well as bystanders, were injured. Previously a political ally of Tillman, McLaurin strayed toward the Republicans who controlled Congress and the White House at the time.

Tillman exploded at McLaurin when his colleague changed his position to favor Republicans on a treaty. Regardless of the reasons behind the fight, both members were censured and the Senate added the Rule XIX six days after the ruckus on the floor.

Now have we really moved past such shenanigans?

I would say yes….for none of the reps we have now have the nuts to fight an opponent….they prefer to run out to a camera and lie.

A good fist fight would make these toads more interesting than they are now…..most are as boring as watching flies f*ck.
