First You May See It And Now You Won’t

There has been a mash-up on social media and the news about Pistol Pete’s announcement that the firing squad death of the Ft. Hood attacker would be televised….personal I think it is a disgusting idea and apparently I am not alone….

Americans may be divided on how Nidal Malik Hasan should die, but they’re far more aligned on one thing: they don’t want it broadcast. A Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll finds 53% back executing the Fort Hood shooter by firing squad and 42% oppose it—yet about 80% reject the Pentagon’s plan to livestream the December 3 execution. Opposition spans most political and demographic groups, including many who support the death sentence itself.

Ninety-one percent of Democrats, 64% of Republicans, and 83% of independents say “no” to a broadcast, as do about two-thirds of veterans, per the Post. Even 55% of MAGA supporters oppose the livestream; MAGA Republican men are the lone subgroup that leans toward streaming, with 57% in favor. A separate YouGov poll that asked about public execution livestreams without referencing Hasan’s case finds 69% of Americans opposed, including 87% of Democrats, 52% of Republicans, and 67% of independents.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Donald Trump say public viewing would underscore the consequences of such violent crimes; critics warn it could fuel extremist propaganda. One political independent polled by Ipsos also worries it would cause an international uproar, per the Post. As of Tuesday, the Pentagon said the livestream was going ahead and “details will follow,” per ABC News.

Like I said….DISGUSTING idea.

Someone was listening for I do not think it was Donny but the news came out….

President Trump just overruled his defense chief about a livestreamed execution. Trump announced on Truth Social on Thursday that the death of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan in December will not be publicly available as a livestream. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth had previously announced plans to stream the firing squad execution, but the idea quickly ran into bipartisan opposition, which some critics calling it barbaric and others fearing it might turn Hasan into a martyr. CBS News reports that one factor is that Trump learned belatedly that Hasan was paralyzed from the waist down during the attack.

“I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device,” wrote Trump. “He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed.” Family members of Hasan’s victims will be allowed to witness his death, Trump added.

That is some of the best news that has come out of Donny’s lying mouth….but now I wonder whose idea it was to cancel the fiasco….certainly was not Pistol Pete’s nor Donny’s….someone with money whispered in the ear is my thought.

Is there any anything else?

A Great Day For Minnesota

Minnesota has been in the news for all the wrong reasons….first the brutal ICE crackdown on immigrants then the witch hunt of Rep. Omar there is seldom much good news that makes it to the headlines.

I am here to provide some good news….especially for Minnesota’s veterans….

Minnesota says it has effectively ended veteran homelessness, becoming the fourth state to hit what officials call “functional zero.” The label doesn’t mean no veteran will ever lose housing; it means local agencies can rapidly spot veterans who are homeless or at risk and quickly move them into permanent housing and services, MPR News reports. The statewide registry now lists about 150 homeless veterans, down from more than 600 in 2010. Officials say everybody on the registry is on a path to housing.

Gov. Tim Walz said the effort is about building a durable safety net, not declaring victory and walking away. “It’s not something you just say, ‘Oh, we fixed it. Veterans’ homelessness is over,'” he said at a press conference. He said that while it’s impossible to ensure that a veteran never becomes homeless, “the state of Minnesota has made sure there’s a net underneath that, that there is a safety net to make sure that that is brief.” The Democratic governor said the milestone is “a testament to the commitment of a bipartisan legislature to attack this issue,” KTTC reports.

Officials credit a “housing first” approach and stable funding, with groups like the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans using state and federal money to secure housing and support services. A state is considered to have “effectively ended” veteran homelessness when it reaches several milestones set out by the federal government, per KTTC. “One of the factors is that anyone who becomes homeless, we have to give them housing within 90 days,” said Brad Lindsay, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Veterans’ Affairs. “That’s part of the system. We can’t have any chronic or long-term homelessness.” Connecticut, Delaware, and Virginia have previously reached similar benchmarks.

It is good to see a state that is concerned about vet homelessness and did something about it….I doubt my state would care that much although they pretend that vets mean a lot to them.

This should be a national playbook on dealing with veteran homelessness.

They may not completely eliminate the problem but at least they are doing something and for that they get a thumb’s up from me.

Do you have any thoughts?

It’s Greenland Again

The Orange Man did is usual chest thumping about Greenland….

President Trump is touting Greenland as both a military shield and a resource bonanza. “Massive Oil, Gas, and Mineral Exploration is getting ready to begin in our new and beautiful Greenland!” Trump noted in a Truth Social post early Wednesday, claiming that some experts believe the island’s easily tapped oil reserves rival almost any on Earth, per CBS News. He also framed Greenland as a critical buffer for US defense, saying any future strike on the US would have to cross the Arctic island, where American systems would intercept drones and missiles.

The president’s comments follow a September security pact among the US, Denmark, and Greenland that expands US bases, bars non-NATO military bases without approval, and nods to future “minerals cooperation” without spelling out how extraction will work. The AP notes that “despite Trump’s optimism, resource exploration and extraction in Greenland has stymied companies for decades thanks to the island’s harsh climate, lack of key infrastructure. and difficult geology. Previous efforts to extract so-called rare earth minerals, as well as oil and gas, have never progressed beyond the exploratory stage.”

“Our Greenland”?

This asshole thinks that if he says it enough soon everyone will believe his bullshit.

I think Greenland may have something to say about this announcement….

Greenland has issued a reality check to President Trump’s latest boast involving the Arctic island. After Trump wrote on Truth Social early Wednesday that “massive” oil, gas, and mineral exploration is poised to kick off there, Greenland’s deputy mining minister said the claim is far ahead of the facts, CNN reports.

Jørgen Hammeken-Holm did say some US-led prospecting was taking place, but that “we are very far away from ‘massive’ exploration.” He added that while “there are many smaller explorations underway … these could take years to become operational.” CNN reports Greenland’s terrain—remote, largely ice-covered, and lacking infrastructure—makes extraction difficult and costly.

I give him that he is determined to give the Tech Bros Greenland….after all he is probably paid well for his support.

He is getting silly with his determination to steal Greenland….one way or another.
