Medicare For Americans

I have writing about Medicare For All (M4A) since it was first unveiled back in 2018…..and I have bee supporting the idea….it is not perfect but it is better than any other options being considered….and now the corporate Dems have offered up what they call Medicare For Americans….

Corporate-backed Democrats evidently see the writing on the wall.

The latest polling from Axios-Ipsos American Health Index, released Wednesday, found that a purality of Americans support replacing the for-profit health insurance industry with a government-run Medicare for All plan, and that 62% of Democrats back the idea. Supporters of a single-payer healthcare program like those that have long existed in the United States’ peer countries swept primary races across the US this year. And one of the top potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidates, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), is a vehement supporter of the idea.

But instead of simply joining efforts to extend the popular Medicare program to everyone in the US, Majority Democrats—a group of Democratic lawmakers aimed at “reshaping and growing” the party, with billionaire hedge fund manager Stephen Mandel as its top funder—is intent on recycling an old proposal, with a new name.

The group introduced “Medicare for Americans” in a six-minute video posted on social media Tuesday—one that essentially described a “public option”—or a government-run healthcare program that would “compete” with health insurers instead of dismantling the $5.3 trillion-per-year for-profit system.

The video describes a plan similar to one unveiled in 2020 by former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, then a presidential candidate, who called his proposal “Medicare for All Who Want It.”

“If we want to earn voters’ trust back,” says the narration, “we need a real solution… A revolutionary plan that will make a real difference in how we handle healthcare in this country.”

The plan would “offer every American who is sick and tired of private insurance a plan through Medicare,” the narrator continues. “People who want to keep the private insurance they have should be able to.”

These slugs are totally owned by the health industry….this is fake concern for us average peasants.

If they are truly worried about you and me why do they fight the M4A?

This plan, Medicare For Americans, is the billionaire option.

… one progressive streamer wrote that Majority Democrats “want to pretend like they support progressive healthcare policy but are just protecting private insurance.”

I believe that is an accurate observation.

This will be a con job on the American people….especially retired Americans.

Dems Are Not Moving Left

If you believe the propaganda machine of the Right and even some of the so-called Dems the party is moving Left….that is pure Bullshit!

Every one is running sacred because of the progress the DSA has mad in our electoral process so the Right has to counter it with something….and what better counter than to resurrect the old ‘Red Scare’ tactic?

But it is a LIE!  And a whopper at that.

Basically they are, the Dems, are trying to return to their roots….

Be advised: “Democrats are in danger of going too far left in 2018.” So warn Republicans like Mitt Romney and ex-Democrats like Joe Lieberman and public personae as diverse as James Comey and Howard Schultz. In recent months, the pundit class has determined that the party’s leftward lurch heralds the rise of a “liberal tea party”—a movement that could very well unmoor Democrats from their longstanding center-left traditions, in close imitation of the spiral of events that caused the Republican Party to turn sharply to the right in recent years.

What’s fueling this argument? For one, more Democrats have rallied, either noisily or cautiously, around such policy innovations as “Medicare for all,” universal college and a universal basic income. That a smattering of Democratic candidates have elected to call themselves “democratic socialists” has only fueled the claim that such programs are “socialist.” “The center is Harry Truman and Daniel Patrick Moynihan, not Eugene Debs and Michael Harrington,” warned New York Times opinion columnist Bret Stephens recently. (Debs and Harrington were self-identified socialists.)

But there’s something wrong with this historical interpretation: Truman strongly supported single-payer health care. Moynihan supported a universal basic income in the 1960s. Dating back to World War II, Democrats sought to make a government-paid education available to as many Americans as possible. If Democrats are marching to the left, that road leads directly back to platforms and politicians who, in their day, commanded wide support and existed firmly in the mainstream of political thought.

What’s more, to label these programs “socialist”—which is to say, far outside the center of the political spectrum—reveals a constrained worldview. For over six decades, center-right parties in Europe—in Britain and France, Germany and Austria, and almost everywhere between—have either participated in or acceded to the very same policies.

In a remarkable way, today’s debate today strongly resembles a broader discussion that occurred in the United States and Europe in the 1940s, amid wartime mobilization and economic reconstruction, and in the decades following.

The rank and file maybe trying to return to the roots of the party but I cannot say the same for the DNC which controls who gets support for any upcoming election.

Can you see the problem?

Has Ukraine Been Compromised?

For several years there has been a mash-up between Ukraine and Russia and of course the US and most of the western world has been helping Ukraine as much as possible….but it looks like that is about to change.

In the works Donny is playing footsie with Putin….and that issue will limit Ukraine’s effectiveness to respond to the attacks by Russia.

Ukraine is just about out of the Patriot missiles it needs to defend itself from Russian attacks, and officials on Monday said they’ve located the bottleneck. The Trump administration has not approved the next deliveries, a delay that applies not only to missiles coming from the US, but those going to Ukraine from other nations—transfers that require Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s approval because the missiles are made by US companies. The officials said Hegseth has not officially blocked the transfers but has not taken the necessary steps to allow them, either, the Washington Post reports.

It’s another of the US-inflicted setbacks for Ukraine, which have included President Trump backing off congressionally approved sanctions on Russia and a deal to allow Russia’s sale of diesel fuel. “The Pentagon is delaying the delivery of missiles” already paid for by European countries, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday, per AFP, saying all that’s needed is Hegseth’s signature. “The missiles are ready, and they could already be in Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

Does this turn have anything to do with the diesel deal Donny cut with Russia and a relaxing of some sanctions?

I look for Zelenskyy to beat feet to Dc and try to save the weapons deals of the past.

And then there is the proposed upcoming meeting between Putin, Xi and Donny….there cover story is the war with Iran….but I would bet that there is more to it than that.

We have known for years that Donny has this pathetic fascination with Putin and it appears that he is going out of his way to accommodate whatever Putin desires.

Am I looking at this in a wrong way?
