2011 Anal-Ocity #13

While reading the blog of Jonathan Turley, a brilliant constitutional law professor, I found yet another anal statement made by a promising (only if you are a deluded redneck) presidential candidate….the Newt-ster…..Newt Gingrich.

What can I say…..hardly a day goes by without someone making a complete ignorant and anal statement, mostly from those on the Right (sorry guys, but the Left seems to be able to talk without making too many anal statements)…..

Like I said this edition of 2011 Anal-Ocity is from everybody’s waffling politician, Newt……

“I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time they’re my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American.”

OK, after about 3 minutes of side splitting laughter, I came to the realization that the more moronic of his supporters will believe this to be gospel (sorry, no pun intended)……what does that mean?  And where is his proof?  Could it be that because our Constitution allows the freedom of religion that Christianity is so weak that it cannot withstand competition?

This is Bullsh*t!  If you have half a brain……you know it….and Newt KNOWS it!

2011 Anal-Ocity #3

A new year and a new batch of self-absorbed a/holes serving the public…..and Alabama has a new governor and a new look at religion……

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley told a church crowd just moments into his new administration that those who have not accepted Jesus as their saviour are not his brothers and sisters, shocking some critics who questioned whether he can be fair to non-Christians.

“Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their saviour, I’m telling you, you’re not my brother and you’re not my sister, and I want to be your brother,” Bentley said Monday, his inauguration day, according to The Birmingham News.

Since I live in the South…..I can say that this is a popular stand on religion…..bet some of the other religions that voted for this dickhead are really proud of themselves at this point…….

Lecture #8

Once again I find myself trying to analyze the slogans and pitches of the politicians…..while I look at them a in wider definition…most people view them through the rose colored glasses of their own experience…..there is nothing wrong with that…..only that we are a country of many and not all of us look at an issue in the same light…….my training has taught me to look at these issues in a wider context and for that reason I look forward to hearing what others have to say…..

Before I begin this piece I want to tell anyone that is concerned that I am NOT making an atheistic point….I am asking questions with the hopes that someone has the answers….that is what a political philosopher does……I am not talking about what a single person thinks as the values….I mean the general ‘rules’ that make one a Christian…..

Okay, we are entering the silly season as it has been called…election time….and the slogans and the accusations and the finger pointing are all over the news….we hear lots about traditional values (a previous post) and the constitution and the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence….lots of people standing on our founding documents as political props to be wheeled out at election time to impress and confuse and convince the electorate.  And occasionally someone somewhere will use the saying “back to judeo-christian values” as a campaign prop or ad……

I have heard that we need to get back to the judeo-christian values of our founding fathers…..have you heard these things too?  But what are those values?  Which of these values did the founders see proper to put into the documents that started this country?

Is it the reference to God?  Well that is not exclusively Christian.  And the continued reference to the founding documents as Judeo-Christian in substance…..where are these written in the founding documents?  How about tolerance?  (that one is out)….Respect?  (that one is out)…….Hope?  (only if it agrees with a certain group)……Love….. (Only if it applies to self)…..Just what are the values that so many want us to return to?  Are we talking about the ‘values’ that a person holds?  Or is it a wider definition?

To the best of my knowledge the only reference to Christian is in the Mayflower Compact….not in the D of I or the Bill of Rights or the Constitution….what are these values that many go on about?

If we are talking about the Commandments…then that would be from the Torah and Christ had nothing to do with it.  So to be more accurate, if we are going to go by the rule of thumb here….then it would be more Jewish than Christian….hoping that the reader sees where this has gone.

Once again it appears that is just sensationalizing a concept for political advantage…values in question are subjective and for that reason it is used and used often knowing that the listeners will inject their personal belief into the slogan of what they want that slogan to mean.

So, I ask again….what are the Christian values that they elude to when they make their vague pitch?

2010 Anal-Ocity #22

There seems to be NO end to the bullsh*t people will say to change the thought process….we call those anal-ocities or anal statements, those statements that come from the butt, not from the brain…….

The House has voted to basically repel Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell all the controversy has proven to be nothing, a fart in the wind, if you will and when all else fails….trot out those damn Nazis!

This statement comes from the head of the American Family Association, Bryan Fischer………(sorry it is a bit wordy but it all had to be shown)…and then echoed by John McCain……apparently good commonsense no longer applies to McCain……

So Hitler himself was an active homosexual. And some people wonder, didn’t the Germans, didn’t the Nazis, persecute homosexuals? And it is true they did; they persecuted effeminate homosexuals. But Hitler recruited around him homosexuals to make up his Stormtroopers, they were his enforcers, they were his thugs. And Hitler discovered that he could not get straight soldiers to be savage and brutal and vicious enough to carry out his orders, but that homosexual solders basically had no limits and the savagery and brutality they were willing to inflict on whomever Hitler sent them after. So he surrounded himself, virtually all of the Stormtroopers, the Brownshirts, were male homosexuals.

What can one say?  To begin with…there is NO proof that Hitler was gay….second, the stormtroopers and the brownshirts were not the same thing….next……Hitler had the brownshirts arrested and killed and then Rohm, their leader was also killed and he was most likely gay…….this is just more lies from the hysterical Right….and the saddest part is that John McCain has signed on to this lunacy…he is desperate to find voters to help him win re-election…even to the point of siding with liars and morons.

While the statement was made by someone else, John McCain will get the nod….because he should be smarter than that….and he is trying to seal some support for his election.

The Class of ’94

I remember the day, as if it was yesterday, wait it was yesterday or a couple of days ago, or…….anyway, another sex scandal, another Repub and another Class of ’94 alumnus…..

The Class of ’94…..the GOP was swept into office in the Congress by a tidal wave of ultra-conservatism on the backs of “family values” strong words during the presidency of Clinton and his many sexual accusations……Newt and the boyz went about changing the game in Washington…to the point of shutting the government down for awhile…..this was the beginning of the hyper-partisanship on the Hill and it eventually lead to the lies, misinformation and BS from both sides……and it trickled down to the masses, where they insult anyone who does not think like the ultras…..and it continues today….

Now that the history lesson is over….let us speak on the “Class of ’94″…….What have these whacky guys been doing for the last 16 years?  Well, let me see……(pause for effect)……..about 15 of those members of Congress seem to be doing as many people as they can…..what do you mean Professor?

It seems that the class of ’94 and its family values repartee was just that…….a lie to gain political advantage….huh?  At least 15 GOP members of the House of Representatives have been caught with their pants down…not literally but actually….names like Foley, who want to play hide the pickle with male staffers and Sanford, who hikes the Appalachian Trail and Ensign, who plays around with a staffers wife and then tries to bri9be his way out of the situation and now the latest Mark Souder.

Souder, a strong “family values” guy who made videos preaching about abstinence education with his married mistress (see video here). In one, he equates sex with smoking, and laments how tough it is to get them to abstain. “Nothing works very well,” he says. She nods sympathetically. She can relate.

In his resignation news conference he went about blaming the toxic atmosphere in Washington as the cause of his adulterous actions…..once again it is NOT his fault…it is the atmosphere in the Capital……yet again another Repub that will NOT take responsibility for his actions, but yet wants everybody else to do so.

The people that believe this a/hole need to demand their money returned from his paycheck….and next time try not to be so damn gullible!

Now here is a subject that gets the blood boiling, both pro and con……there could be a debate on this for decades and NO one would win the debate…..but I am not here to condemn or support the idea….I just want to point out what part it has played in the past…..both recent and long ago…..do not shoot the messenger…..

Since almost the beginning of what is called political philosophy there has been a debate on what part religion should play in the governance of society……

For instance, St. Augustine in the 5th century AD…..believe that since humans were volatile and irrational, then government must be a God given phenom…he believed that people MUST obey their government as they do their church…..then we come upon Machiavelli……he believed that christian morality was clearly inappropriate for a ruler to use in governance……John Locke…..thought that religious toleration was to be paramount in government, but he also thought there should a a “state” standardized form of religion….The along came Rousseau….who thought that the state should have a “civic religion’….there is a very short sampling of what was thought of religion as it pertained to the state or government or political authority….as you can see religion has played some part in the act of governing….

Most people think of religion because they are taught to think a certain way……does religion belong in the same office as government?……There are many ideas of what religion should do……But what do the different political players think of religion?

Liberals–religion is a private matter linked to individual choice and personal development.  Religious freedom is essential to civil liberty and can only be guaranteed by a strict division between religion and political activity and between church and state.

Conservative–religion is a valuable (possibly essential) source of stability and social cohesion.  Provides society with a set of shared values and the bedrock of a common society, and culture and church and state are inevitable and desirable.

Socialist–portray religion in negative terms, at best it is a diversion from political struggle and a t worst a form of ruling class ideology.  In other words, a way to keep the masses under control.

Anarchist–regard religion as an institutionalized source of oppression of the working class.  Church and state are invariably linked, with religion preaching obedience and submission to earthy rulers, while also prescribing a set of authoritative values that rob the individual of moral autonomy.

Fascist–Rejects religion on grounds that it serves as a rival source of allegiance or belief, and that it preaches decadent values such as compassion and sympathy.  Fascism seeks to function as a ‘political’ religion, embracing its terminology and internal structure, such as devotion, sacrifice, spirit, redemption and so forth

In recent decades fundamentalism is becoming more entrenched in American politics,  they see the body of religion is essential, it dictates not only the personal conduct but also dictates the organization of social, economic and political life.  These people believe that religion cannot and should not be limited to private sphere, that its place is with the politics of the land.  They will impose their beliefs on everyone….personally, I do NOT want someone telling me what is right and wrong and passing laws with their personal beliefs…….

As you see the different “roles” that religion can play in the function of a government.  But is it a “Ship of State”?  IMO, it is NOT……religion is a personal thing that an individual makes and there should be NO room for it in government…I agree with the Anarchists in some ways and the Liberals in others…religion has No place in a modern government….laws should NOT be made from a religious point of view…no matter what one thinks the Founding Fathers had in mind…..

2010 Anal-Ocity #2

I just had to make it official that Robertson got a nod for his most anal of statements……

It is early in the new year and already the motor mouths cannot stop themselves from saying dumbass sh*t…

This one is from the 700 Club’s Pat Robertson:

“And you know, Kristi, something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French, you know, Napoleon the Third and whatever, and they got together and swore a pact tothe devil. They said, ‘We will serve you if you’ll get us free from the French.’ True story. And so the devil said, ‘O.K., it’s a deal.’ “

The theory that Haiti is a nation built on a pact with the devil has circulated on a number of websites, each tracing back to an apocryphal tale of Haitian voodoo priests sacrificing a pig and drinking its blood in 1791 in order to secure Satan’s aid in expelling the French occupation. In return, the priests are said to have promised Haiti to Satan for the next 200 years. The French were soon beat back, and in 1804, Haiti became an independent nation. But even if you believe the story (something many historians doubt), Satan’s lease on the tiny island nation should have expired in 1991.

This person is an idiot and if I could I would immediately give him the Assie Award….it will be hard to find another person this f*cking stupid!

The Christian Conservatives Meeting

A meeting is going on in Washington of Christian conservatives among those jockeying for position with this group is Pawlenty, Huckabee, Romney are the biggest names on the bill.  But some are not in attendance like Palin and Newt.  So just how explosive can the meeting be without the two biggest gas bags?

The WaPo is reporting on the meeting:

Conservative activists see exploitable opportunities in Obama’s policies and performance that also can stir more centrist voters, such as suspicions of “big government” and the almost uniquely American skepticism of global warming that prevails in much of the heartland.

“The idea that the healthcare plan takes away choice and freedom, people see their liberties at risk,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), the conservative Christian lobby group organizing the summit of self-styled “values voters.”

The Family Research Council also claims “Obamacare” will lead to federal funding for abortion — an allegation hotly disputed by the president and his supporters — and Perkins told Reuters on the sidelines of the conference that this issue went “beyond the ranks of the pro-life movement.”

The religious right has been at the forefront of conservative efforts to rally public opposition to climate change legislation aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions linked to global warming.

Conservative Christian radio stations have spent the summer saying the legislation’s “cap and trade” provisions would represent the biggest tax increase in U.S. history. That has stoked opposition and could have an impact when the legislation, already passed in the House of Representatives, is considered in the Senate.

Opposition to abortion rights and gay rights long have been leading rallying cries of the religious right, but its activists also tend to follow broader conservative values such as low taxes and support for a strong U.S. military.

The “straw boss” of the straw poll at the meeting comes out as Huckabee and Romney an also ran.  Did Romney lose because he is a Moron?  Or is Huckabee more like the whackos at these meetings?

With all that reported,  there is too much BS in one location.  Like they are afraid of “big government” and they want them out of our lives, but in the same breath want condemnation of gays and abortion, two personal choices.  Hypocrites!

Beyond hypocrites, these dipsticks are LAIRS!  There is NO amendment in the health care bill that would allow for the funding of abortions….BTW it is against the law to use Fed money to pay for abortions….a fact they seem to want to leave out of their rants.  All in all a bunch of dipsticks that believe T. Rex had a saddle.

The whole conservative movement has all the trappings of a Jerry Springer episode….all the sex….all the drama….all back stabbing….and finally all the trainwreck amusement.

That is my take on the hot air coming from the Christian Conservatives meeting.

2009 Anal-Ocity

The health care debate has given me an endless supply of anal statements….but this time it has come from the recent Christian Conservative Conference in Washington.  This time it comes from the chief of staff for Sen. Tom Coburn:

“all pornography is homosexual pornography because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards.”

Wait!  All porn is gay porn?  Apparently, I am not watching the stuff this idiot is…..or maybe he has NO idea what he is talking about…I would think it is the latter.

You would think that a chief of staff for a US senator would be a little better informed……we are talking about Washington…..
