Is Newsom The Best For 2028?

The Dems are scrambling to find the perfect candidate for the general election in 2028…..many people like California’s Newsom (I am not one of them)…my daughter is on that bandwagon and we argue a lot over her support for Newsom.

Personally I think he is a phony….yes he has done some amazing things in California and has stood up to Donny but that does not impress me that much….I think he is a Clintonian big business Dem.

Now a recent action on his part makes my case for me….

A world-renowned economist and expert on wealth inequality castigated California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday for working to kill a proposed tax on billionaire fortunes in the Golden State, warning that the Democratic leader and likely 2028 candidate appears bent on handing President Donald Trump “an unexpected ideological and political victory.”

Gabriel Zucman, a research professor of economics at the University of California, Berkeley, pointed to a recent Bloomberg story detailing Newsom’s “last-ditch pressure campaign” to prevent a healthcare union-led initiative from appearing on California voters’ ballots in November.

In a lengthy thread posted to X on Monday, Zucman wrote that he is “shocked” by Newsom’s “efforts to defend Peter Thiel and Mark Zuckerberg at the expense of Californians’ health,” referring to two of the state’s most prominent billionaires. Thiel has donated millions to an industry group looking to defeat the ballot initiative, which would use revenue from the wealth tax to offset the impacts of federal Medicaid cuts approved last year by Trump and congressional Republicans.

“Yet you are now devoting all your energy to preventing this ballot initiative from taking place and denying Californians the opportunity to express their democratic will this November,” Zucman wrote. “You have chosen to protect California’s billionaires at the expense of Californians’ health.”

This proposed protection of billionaires is why he is not suitable for the candidacy.

That one subject is the biggest sticking point for voters…..the unbridled wealth that these fools are accumulating and paying no taxes.

This is why it is an issue and why is Newsom aiding these parasites?

Eighty-eight corporations that paid no federal income tax last year spent roughly $852 million on US campaign contributions and lobbying during recent election cycles, a report published Thursday revealed.

The report, “The Current Price of Zero,” was authored by Eileen O’Grady, a researcher at Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division. The publication draws upon an analysis published in April by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) showing that at least 88 of the nation’s largest companies paid no federal corporate income tax in fiscal year 2025, despite reporting combined US pretax income of around $105 billion.

“Using data from OpenSecrets, which compiles and publishes campaign finance and lobbying data, we found that from the 2020 election cycle through the 2024 cycle, these 88 companies have spent nearly $852 million on lobbying and campaign contributions,” O’Grady wrote. “We highlight the companies that spent the most money on lobbying, hired the most lobbyists, lobbied specifically on tax issues, and contributed the most cash to political campaigns.”

The federal corporate income tax rate is 21%, indicating that the 88 companies in the report dodged a combined $22.1 billion in taxes last year. Additionally, they received $4.7 billion in tax rebates, bringing their total tax breaks to approximately $26.7 billion.

Parasites!

And these are the types that Newsom is running interference for in the California legislature.

This makes him unacceptable as a candidate for me….period.

Is this what you look for in a candidate?

Even though I have pointed this out it will be forgotten in the future if he is a candidate…..that is truly sad.

Any deep thoughts here?

Dreams Of 2020

It has been six long years since Donny and the GOP started their attack on the results of the 2020 vote…..fraud has been the rallying cry and they, GOP, have tried every move they could think of to try and get the voter reversed.

Just yesterday another of their silly attempts was crapped on by a federal judge…..

A federal judge in Georgia has shut down a Justice Department push to dig back into the 2020 vote in Atlanta’s Fulton County, ruling that a subpoena for information on local election workers went too far and wasn’t justified. US District Judge William Ray called the request’s scope “staggering” and said the DOJ’s interest in enforcing it didn’t outweigh the burden on the county, especially since “the statute of limitations for any possible crime arising from the 2020 Election has long expired,” CNN reports. The April subpoena sought the names and contact information of every 2020 election worker in the county, including volunteers and county employees.

In his order, Ray said federal investigators claimed Fulton County may not have kept ballot images as long as required and that some seized ballots “look suspicious.” But he questioned whether a valid grand jury was actually behind the subpoena, noting no evidence that the grand jury itself sought the workers’ personal data.

  • “In these hyper-political times in which we currently live, there are sure to be some who disagree with this decision because they believe the allegations of fraud in the 2020 Election and believe that ‘light’ should be brought to those claims,” Ray wrote, per the AP. He said those allegations can be investigated, but not through the grand jury process, “which exists to investigate potential crimes and to bring viable indictments.”
  • “Everyone, whether you support the President or you do not, or whether you believe the 2020 Election was fair or believe that it was not, should be concerned about the DOJ’s ability to utilize the power of the Grand Jury to appropriate your private information without a legitimate purpose,” the judge wrote.
  • Ray was appointed by President Trump, who has long claimed, without evidence, that voter fraud was behind his 2020 loss in Georgia.
  • The ruling comes as the DOJ faces setbacks in court while pressing state and local officials on election practices, CNN reports. Its Civil Rights Division has recently warned that officials who let noncitizens remain on voter rolls or cast ballots could face criminal charges and has notified several Michigan cities it plans to send federal election monitors for upcoming contests. The FBI has reportedly made the Georgia investigation a top priority and has asked field offices to supply hundreds of analysts.

It is time to put this silliness to bed.

After 6 years and nothing gained then you are just wasting time and resources….there are REAL problems in this country in search of solutions….why not try that for a couple of years?

But since the DoJ is having a hard time with this issue they have moved to yet another strain on our rights….the act of dissent….

In two instances in western New York, ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility — which has apparently switched from serving as an internal watchdog to targeting online critics — has tried to force people who posted criticisms of ICE to sign a “Warning Notice” admitting that their criticisms were unlawful.

David Streever of Rochester, New York, sued ICE on Monday in federal court in D.C., alleging that ICE’s OPR violated his First Amendment rights when it went to his home last month and then tracked him down while he was traveling to issue him a “Warning Notice” about a critical email he sent to then-acting ICE Director Todd M. Lyons. He refused to sign it.

“Like many Americans, I was deeply upset after the shootings in Minnesota and I felt compelled to do something,” Streever said in a press release about his lawsuit. “Writing an email to the head of ICE seemed like the least I could do to express my sense of outrage. I never dreamed it would lead to a knock on my door by federal officers or descending on my hotel in the dark of night.”

I like being the one to point out to this mental midgets that dissent has made this nation!

Dissent is one of this nation’s defining characteristics. Every decade since the earliest days of colonization, Americans have protested for just about every cause imaginable, and every time they did, defenders of the status quo denounced the protesters as unpatriotic and in more recent times as un-American. But protest is one of the consummate expressions of “Americanness.” It is patriotic in the deepest sense.

Even before the United States was conceived, there was dissent. During the 17th century religious dissent played a significant role in the planting and development of the English colonies. In the 18th century political dissent led to the open rebellion that resulted in the birth of the United States. In the 19th century dissenters demanded the abolition of slavery, suffrage for women, fair treatment of Native Americans, and the banning of immigrants. And they protested against the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War (on both sides), and the Spanish-American War. In the 20th century dissenters organized to prohibit alcohol but also demanded workers’ rights, women’s rights, African American rights, Chicano rights, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. They also protested against every war (declared and undeclared) fought by the United States. In the 21st century dissenters have protested against abortion, NAFTA, globalization, the Iraq War, the PATRIOT Act, the National Security Agency, bank bailouts, and out-of-control deficits. Most recently dissenters have mobilized to protest against systemic racism, sexual harassment and assault, and Congress’s inability (or refusal) to enact meaningful legislation to address climate change and gun violence. And then there are those who, despite their real grievances, having fallen for the widespread disinformation circulating on untrustworthy internet sites, raise their voices in protest on the basis of conspiracy theories, lies, and a distorted view of American history. Clearly, dissent has many faces.

I do not care how hard they try to control dissent as long as I am breathing I will dissent whenever there is a need…..and brother there is a dire need today!

Got anything to add?
