Closing Thought–15Mar21

No secret that I am a dog person……some of my best friends have been canine…..I try to support the local humane society…I seldom donate to a national organization simply because I do not trust them to use my donation wisely….I have read horror stories that tell of about 70% of donation go to admin salaries and such….they get nothing from me….nothing at all!

What prompted me to write this post was something I read about a Dog Rescue Charity…..seems this one is funneling money to Donald the Orange……

A dog rescue charity with links to Lara Trump has spent as much as $1.9 million at former President Donald Trump’s properties over the last seven years and will drop an additional quarter-million at his Mar-a-Lago country club this weekend.

According to a permit filed with the town of Palm Beach, Florida, Big Dog Ranch Rescue estimates it will spend $225,000 at the club where Donald Trump has taken up full-time residence since leaving the White House. All the profit from that spending winds up in his pocket.

Internal Revenue Service filings show that the group has spent as much as $1,883,160 on fundraising costs at Mar-a-Lago and Trump’s golf course 18 miles north in Jupiter starting in 2014. Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, started being listed as a chairwoman for charity events in 2018, and the group’s president, Lauren Simmons, visited the White House in 2019 for the signing of a bill addressing animal cruelty.

Now you see why I do not trust most so-called charities….

This is pathetic that people would support a charity that profits a person not the animal that it was chartered to do.

More GOP Lunacy

The once proud political organization we know as the GOP has become a comical bunch of old white guys desperately trying to look like they are relevant……they are not….not anymore.

Their decline began with the conservative god, Reagan…..and it has been in steady decline from 1994 and came to a head with the election of that other guy.

Let’s begin with recent lunacies…like Wisconsin’s senator, Johnson…..

On a radio program Thursday, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson says he wasn’t scared during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 that left five dead, but his reasoning for why he wasn’t in fear as supporters of former President Trump stormed the building has led to accusations of racism and prompted calls for him to resign. CNN reports his most recent remarks on the matter came Thursday during The Joe Pags Show, when he revealed he “wasn’t concerned” and “never really felt threatened” as rioters rushed the Capitol. “Even though those thousands of people that were marching to the Capitol were trying to pressure people like me to vote the way they wanted me to vote, I knew those were people that love this country, that truly respect law enforcement, would never do anything to break the law,” he said, not acknowledging that more than 300 people have since been charged for actions that day, which included violence such as police officers being assaulted.

Johnson continued: “Now, had the tables been turned—Joe, this could get me in trouble—had the tables been turned, and President Trump won the election and those were tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter and antifa protesters, I might have been a little concerned.” The outcry over Johnson’s remarks came swiftly. “What, white people love this country and Black people don’t? That’s exactly what he’s saying,” Wisconsin state Sen. LaTonya Johnson (no relation) tells the Journal Sentinel. Jessica Floyd, head of the American Bridge Democratic super PAC, wants Johnson to resign, calling his comments “racist and unacceptable.” “Apparently for Ron Johnson, simply being Black is a bigger offense than launching a violent insurrection,” she says, per the Hill. Johnson tried to defend his remarks to the outlet by citing a report showing 570 protests last summer turned violent. The Hill notes those only made up 5% of the protests, which were overwhelmingly peaceful.

Out of the mouths of fools comes manure.

Then there is that freshman Representative. Taylor Greene…..the court jester of the House…..she tries to play a game that she has no idea what she is doing other than running her worthless mouth.

When Democrats took the rare step of stripping Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments last month, she responded with a defiant tweet. “I woke up early this morning literally laughing thinking about what a bunch of morons the Democrats … are for giving some one like me free time,” she wrote. Greene, it turns out, has been making good on her threat—through repeated use of a procedural maneuver that’s gumming up the works in Congress, if only for an hour or so at a time. Coverage:

The move: Greene has forced the House to vote on a motion to adjourn four times in recent days, most recently on Wednesday, reports USA Today. Any member of the House can call for such a vote, which requires all members to drop what they’re doing, report to the House chamber, and cast their vote.

Defiance: Greene, who accuses Democrats of “ramming through” legislation too quickly, tells the Washington Post her critics can expect more of the same. “These are tactics I will definitely use, and I’ll have more tactics to use,” she says. “You see, the difference in me is I’m not one of those that gets in line and says ‘Yes sir’ and does as I’m told.” Greene has been naming Republicans who vote against her and labeling them members of the “Surrender Caucus.”

Possible target: A post by Allahpundit at HotAir wonders if Greene’s real target isn’t Democrats, giving that she’s publicly naming fellow Republicans who vote against her motions. “Is it really the libs she’s after, then? Or is she just looking for an excuse to provoke a populist/moderate squabble within the party?

Again….out of the mouths of fools comes manure.

Let’s go to the House and the GOP leader Kevin McCarthy……a Trump sycophant that looks for games rather than policies…..

His newest stupidity is around a harsh critic, Eric Swalwell…..

The Republican House leader says he’ll call for a vote to remove Rep. Eric Swalwell from the chamber’s Intelligence Committee, saying his relationship with a suspected spy for China makes him a security threat. Rep. Kevin McCarthy tweeted Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had again named Swalwell to the committee. “Based on the briefing she and I received together, Swalwell should not be on the panel in charge of guarding our nation’s secrets,” he posted. McCarthy said he’ll introduce his resolution next week. Pelosi has said she has no worries about having the California lawmaker on Intelligence, the Hill reports. A Democratic aide said McCarthy’s request is a “waste of time,” noting that no one has accused Swalwell of wrongdoing, per CBS.

Axios had reported in December that Christine Fang, or Fang Fang, working for China’s civilian spy agency, established herself in Bay Area political circles, raising money for Swalwell’s reelection campaign. US intelligence officials did not think she obtained classified information. Swalwell ceased to have any contact with her after being told of her activities in 2015, and she left the US after an investigation of her had begun. After McCarthy’s tweet, Swalwell answered with: “I’m eager to continue the important work of protecting Americans and supporting the hard-working heroes of our Intelligence Community, and I thank Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Schiff for their support and confidence.” Last month, Pelosi also put Swalwell back on the Homeland Security Committee, per Fox News, which he’d served on previously for one term.

After hearing this I think it is a good idea.

It would set a precedent so we could remove some of the influence that all lobbyist hold over the actions and votes of the politicians.

We could remove people from committees with deep ties to the defense industry or the oil industry and so on….

BY now everyone knows about the attempts of the state GOP leaders to limit voting ……but as they say….not to worry there is more…..

Elections shouldn’t be about getting as many eligible voters as possible to choose a candidate, according to Arizona state Rep. John Kavanagh, chair of the state House’s Government and Elections Committee. The Republican defended moves to restrict voting in the state Thursday by arguing that making it easier to vote leads to more fraud, CNN reports. “Democrats value as many people as possible voting, and they’re willing to risk fraud,” he said. “Republicans are more concerned about fraud, so we don’t mind putting security measures in that won’t let everybody vote—but everybody shouldn’t be voting.”

“Not everybody wants to vote, and if somebody is uninterested in voting, that probably means that they’re totally uninformed on the issues,” said Kavanagh, who criticized Democratic voter registration drives. “Quantity is important, but we have to look at the quality of votes, as well.” Kavanagh argued that ballots shouldn’t be sent out automatically because ballots sent to people who have moved or died could lead to fraud, though he admitted the concerns were “anecdotal,” the Hill reports. A bill to remove people who haven’t participated in two consecutive election cycles from the permanent early voting list is among 24 measures restricting voting rights Arizona Republicans have introduced since January.

Finally….out of the mouths of fools comes manure.

This silliness is far from over.

Insurrection Good News/Bad News

The saga continues for the insurrection of 06 January 2021……the FBI and Justice Department is trying to find those that participated and bring them to justice…..

The good news of the insurrection……more arrests coming…..

The U.S. Justice Department on Friday said it expects to file criminal charges against more than 100 additional people who allegedly participated in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, in what it described as probably the most complex investigation it has ever handled.

More than 300 people already face charges stemming from the siege, which left five people dead and more than 130 police officers injured as thousands of supporters of former President Donald Trump tried to prevent Congress from certifying his election defeat.

Sadly there is bad news as well…..

The US attorney’s office in Washington, DC, expects to start offering plea deals to people charged in the Capitol insurrection in the next 30 days, a prosecutor told a judge on Friday.

None of the 300-plus people charged with participating in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol have pleaded guilty to charges so far. Court filings in recent weeks have confirmed that some defendants are open to cutting a deal, but until now prosecutors had been vague about timing, at least in their public representations about the investigation. They’ve told judges that because of the mountain of evidence they’re still gathering and sifting through, they needed more time before they could make offers.

During a Friday morning hearing in the case of two alleged Capitol rioters, Jenny Cudd and Eliel Rosa, Assistant US Attorney Amanda Fretto said that based on information prosecutors had received from supervisors, it sounded “like things are moving along.” Fretto said she had spoken with lawyers for Cudd and Rosa about agreeing to suspend deadlines in their case for 30 days to give the government time to extend a plea offer.

Plea deals?

These people participated in an insurrection against this country…..make the a/holes pay for their betrayal of everything this country stands for……JAIL TIME!

They deserve NO consideration….PERIOD!

Bring The Troops Home!

Yes I am antiwar and I am be redundant when I write that our troops need to be home and not deployed multiple times in a war we cannot win.

After 2 decades and it is still being fought is unacceptable.

Quickly approaching 20 years of war in Afghanistan….a quagmire….some have a different opinion but those are invalid to me…

I agree with an opinion written in the American Conservative…..(and yes I read TAC)…..

Today foreign policy is dominated by a bipartisan clique which believes that America’s default position should be to intervene. In this view, the U.S. is a geopolitical Vestal Virgin, possessing the world’s conscience and determined to eliminate evil and redeem sinners worldwide. As Madeleine Albright once declared, America stands taller and thus sees further. So it is entitled to run the world—with brutal military force, if necessary.

Globe-spanning military deployments, like today, naturally follow this philosophy. The Defense Department believes it should station troops wherever they are welcome, and often where they are not. Naturally, the wishes of other nations are ultimately irrelevant; their duty is to obey their betters in Washington. The U.S. might go through a pretense of “consultation,” since it is sometimes necessary to pacify the “natives,” as it were, but even formal alliances are never equal partnerships.

Time to Bring the Troops Home

All the insider experts are telling basically that Biden should stay in Afghanistan…..time for these toads to go….

U.S. President Joe Biden is coming under heavy pressure to abandon the May 1 deadline to withdraw U.S. combat troops from Afghanistan. The push to move the deadline might come from a former secretary of state, the congressionally mandated Afghan Study Group, or even NATO’s secretary-general. Opposing the pleas of these popular figures are 20 years of unbroken strategic failure. There is ample evidence to suggest that 20 more years of failure await, should the president give in to the wishes of these personalities.

In February, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright argued Biden should ignore the May 1 withdrawal date and instead adopt a series of five new steps. The Afghan Study Group likewise advocated to abandon the withdrawal date and offered its own objectives. Meanwhile, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the May 1 date was a “conditions-based” deal and declared the Taliban hadn’t met the conditions, and therefore NATO should continue the war.

This war has dragged on and on and all that is accomplished is the weapons industries keeps their profits rolling in at the cost of American lives.

20 years is long enough!

Children of the first invasion are now possibly fighting this same unwinnable war.

Let us not forget that other endless war, Iraq…..17 years and counting……

Friday is the 18th anniversary of George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq. That misadventure proved to be a humanitarian catastrophe. As well as Washington’s worst geopolitical blunder in four decades. Tragically, America’s involvement is the misbegotten gift that keeps on giving – and killing.

President Joe Biden should bring America’s troops home from Iraq. Now.

Bring Americans Home from Iraq’s Endless War

Pres. Biden is stuck in the spiraling cycle…..

Joe Biden professed a desire to limit the use of military power only to defend vital U.S. national security interests. Like too many previous presidents, however, he has resorted to force early in his administration, presumably to establish his national security bonafides. His decision to use force in the proxy war with Iran over Syria and Iraq could compromise the leading and perhaps only legitimate national security concern in the region—the renewal of the Iran nuclear accord, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Biden has brought back every major actor from the Obama administration who was responsible for negotiating the JCPOA in 2015. This list includes CIA Director William Burns, who was the initial point of contact with the Iranian government; White House environmental tsar John Kerry, who was the key negotiator as secretary of state; National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, who was Kerry’s aide-de-camp in the negotiations; and Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, who was a key nuclear disarmament advisor to Kerry. Moreover, Biden has ignored the protests from the Israeli lobby and has named Robert Malley, a genuine progressive when it comes to U.S. policy toward the Middle East, to be the special emissary to Iran. All of the pieces are in place for a successful negotiation if “events” don’t get in the way.

Biden’s Quandary: Proxy Wars and Endless Wars

For god’s sake….enough is enough!

End the damn madness!

End it now!
