From the VOMITORIUM
Then there is Jeff Flake….this GOPer was one of the few that would not be silent on Trump….sadly he decided not to run for re-election before he became vocal….and now his mouth is running again…..
He has decided to weigh in on the upcoming impeachment process….
Former Sen. Jeff Flake has his own take on how the Senate would respond to President Trump’s impeachment, Fox News reports. “At least 35” Republican senators would support impeachment if the vote were held privately, he said Thursday at the 2019 Texas Tribune Festival. “I heard someone say if there were a private vote there would be 30 Republican votes. That’s not true,” he added in a Q&A. “There would be at least 35.” The frequent Trump critic talked more about it Friday, telling WBUR that “anybody who has sat through two years, as I have, of Republican luncheons realizes that there’s not a lot of love for the president.”
“There’s a lot of fear of what it means to go against the president, but most Republican senators would not like to be dealing with this for another year or another five years,” he went on. “So yeah, a private vote would go a lot differently, but that doesn’t matter because that’s just a hypothetical.” Asked what he thought of Democrats launching an impeachment inquiry, he said, “That was a pretty damning transcript. That was not anything you want your president to be doing. So I think we need to wait for the investigation to conclude and wait for likely testimony from the whistleblower him or herself before drawing conclusions.”
Do you really believe that these so-called “35” will decide to put country above politics?
I do not!
Then Flake decided to keep his mouth running with a new op-ed in the WaPo…….
In a Washington Post op-ed published Monday, Flake pleaded with members of his party to oppose Trump’s 2020 reelection, even if they cannot back impeachment.
“If the House decides against filing articles of impeachment, or the Senate fails to convict, Senate Republicans will have to decide whether, given what we now know about the president’s actions and behavior, to support his reelection,” Flake wrote. “Obviously, the answer is no.”
Flake has been a frequent critic of Trump, refusing to back him in 2016 and declining to seek another Senate term in 2018, citing the president’s behavior as “dangerous to democracy.”
Sorry but if Flake and others like him truly wanted to defy Trump why then did he not stray in Congress and do so?
He reminds me of that kid that gets bullied and then when the bully’s back is turned he bows up and talks tough.
Save their souls?
If is way too late for that.
They sold their souls decades ago and will seldom look back.
Flake’s op-ed…….Wasted time, wasted words and wasted ink.
