Closing Thought–10Jul17

There is a debate going on about climate change…well there is a discussion because twats are denying there there is anything different….that nothing is changing and if it does it is only as nature wants.

Well and good but I personally do not give a shit which side one cares to take….I am talking about what I see….you may dispute what I see that is your right as it is my right to think negatively……

I have a small orchard with plums, tangerines, satsumas, limes, peaches and olives and since we have NO winter to speak of here in my state these trees do not bear the way they should…so something is changing and not for the good…..10 years ago I was getting so much fruit I was having to can to keep from losing the crop…..these days I do get enough to make a good snack.

I then read an article about the change climate here in the South……

As the United States confronts global warming in the decades ahead, not all states will suffer equally. Maine may benefit from milder winters. Florida, by contrast, could face major losses, as deadly heat waves flare up in the summer and rising sea levels eat away at valuable coastal properties.

In a new study in the journal Science, researchers analyzed the economic harm that climate change could inflict on the United States in the coming century. They found that the impacts could prove highly unequal: states in the Northeast and West would fare relatively well, while parts of the Midwest and Southeast would be especially hard hit.

There is some good news for some states other than the South but since I live in the area mentioned I really do not give a crap about Ohio or New York or any state in the Northern quadrant….sorry about that just being honest.
Not good news for my orchard….the one upside is that the olive trees are doing well these days so there is that……
There is nothing I can do to change this….I need a winter of freezing weather for the fruit to set without it I got a tree…all this is sad because I do love my fruit…well maybe things will improve when my granddaughter inherits the house and land…..
Day is done……..I am off like a dirty shirt… well, be safe….chuq

  1. I am not a complete climate change denying person, as I can feel the extra humidity here all the time, as well as the almost incessant rain in winter and spring, often for 40-50 days at a time.
However, we must remember that such weather patterns have historically continued in cycles, throughout recorded history. In the 17th Century, England had a mini ice age, with unusual freezing temperatures that often froze the Thames solid in London.
During the 1970s, we experienced record hot summers, the like of which we had never seen.
These current changes may well be because of ‘global warming’, but they might equally be the result of an historical ‘cycle’.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Yes but it does not help my orchard….I miss the fresh fruit, organic fresh fruit… grapes are starting to act up also…..personally I think the debate is silly…..who cares the weather is warmer and that is causing problems…no matter what the cause…it is still causing problems….I miss my peaches…….damn. chuq

  2. I’ve exceeded my comment quota for the day, so I have to pass on this one. Probably for the best, anyway, as I tend toward getting a bit cranky whenever I start thinking about human behavior out in the BBR….

Silly humans, thinking they think, and, that they’re all that….

Enjoy the day, anyway, bro; there’s a lot worse coming, when the bees are gone, and weather has become completely unpredictable…. Once the bees are extinct, the next to go will be flowers, and every other form of plant life we eat….

    Oh, well…. I guess that’s a comment, so, there you go….

    gigoid, the dubious

      1. Me, too; we humans are rather hard on the world we live in, having the christian ethical justification from God’s mouth to ‘have dominion’ over the other creatures & forms of life… which is why we use bat shit to make weaponry & as organic industrial material for, of all things, fertilizer, but on a scale that beggars the imagination… Not to mention we have polluted enough of the earth’s air & water to kill off the bees, thus ensuring we will NOT have any natural food to eat… Sorry, the bee thing really pisses me off….

If it weren’t for having grandchildren who may never have a chance of a normal life, I would say it’s justice…

Ah, well, so be it. At least it’s a nice day for a walk…. & you enjoy your garden, while it still lives…

      2. There are always nano robots that could fill in (I am kidding but it is a thought)…..after the last storm it is all but deceased…LOL chuq
