I made my tour of blogs today and of course the more Right leaning ones have the same information that have almost everyday……”Muslims Bad”…….only because some mouth breather told them they were…..
If you read some of the more knuckle dragging blogs you will believe that the “bad guys” are marching down Main street or they are converting people along the way or they are secretly invading the government…..most of it is just wishful thinking by old farts and their unfounded biases…..
But with that said….do Americans fear ISIS? Yes they do…they are terrified of something they know little about……this is a waste of time to try and educate the unwashed masses but what the Hell….someone has to call them on the ignorance.

The horrific attack in Orlando by a man who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State once again has many Americans on edge and worried about terrorism. Yesterday CIA Director John Brennan amplified those concerns, telling the Senate Intelligence Committee that the Islamic State remains a dangerous threat “despite all of our progress against ISIL on the battlefield” and that “We judge that it will intensify its global terror campaign…” Referring to the gunman in Orlando, Brennan acknowledged that lone wolf attackers are “an exceptionally challenging issue.”
All that sounds pretty bad. So just how worried is the public about ISIS? Even though the question seems straightforward enough, the answer is more complicated than you probably think.

Americans will not do their own research….instead they prefer to let politicians and pundits make their minds up for them…..
Maybe if most Americans weren’t too goddamn lazy then they might have a clearer picture of ISIS and their fears.

And now thanx to the corporate media the disinformation is greater than Casey would have anticipated….and may I say…..it is working extremely well.
The fear of ISIS can be pretty well mitigated if one remembers there is such a thing as Second Amendment rights and that citizens are allowed to protect themselves. Slope headed relics of a bygone age are no match when they take a butcher knife against a gun. Anybody who remembers Indiana Jones would instinctively know that much.
That is soap box stuff….we fear that which we do not understand.
I do not understand why I should risk having my head cut off by some uncivilized animal when I walk down a street in my own damned country so I am going to have protection at hand. I think that is logical.
Sorry John….I just wanted people to understand but as long as it boils down to fantasies then fear is your best weapon.
I have seen the result of some of those fantasies playing out in Paris and California and other places and I used to be a Boy Scout and our motto was “Always be prepared” and when the froth-at-the-mouth filth comes at me, there is going to be a mutual understanding — a very definitively conclusive understanding — and I am not going to lose my head without a fight.
Exactly….they want more bang for the deeds…more propaganda….so the concern for a beheading is done by a wannabe…..not a planned attack….ISIS will not invade the US…it is easier to make idiots do the work for them….

Mr. Casey’s words must have been taken to heart by a great number of those who worked for him because some are still obviously keeping the faith with his concept.
And the media does its part also….
You are right that most Americans know very little or care to spend the time to understand if they are indeed a real or potential threat. Sadly, they are minimal today, but if they obtain access to nuclear weapons, they will be a grave threat.

Lookingback over the years Americans have always been fearful. It started with the Native Americans, then it was the liberated slaves, Communism, the Russains and by extension the Chinese and now it’s Islam. If by some magic ISIS et al were to suddenly vanish for ever – then it wouldn’t be long before another group would be talked up as the “enemy within”.
So damn true…..it is only a matter of time for the new boogey man…

I think they are closer to comatose….
I would venture to say that FEAR MONGERS are well-educated to brainwash idle masses. However, I have more faith in people than maybe most. I believe the hard working, family oriented and community based person is completely on the “treadmill of life”. And, therefore has no idle time to step off and digest what is actually happening in their government and/or on the world stage.
Thet are hit about the head with anti-Muslim stuff, anti-immigrant stuff and just anti-everything stuff….some of it will sink in and they will believe the lies and fear for their lives….
Well one thing I have come to realize: You can’t fix stupid!
For the rest, maybe an economic shutdown similar to Greece will force the people to then pay attention.
Probably not for they will blame some minority for their problems…sad…
