You Are What You Eat

The sun comes up on another weekend….I shall tend to the garden and enjoy some down time for a couple of days…..

Speaking of the garden….the radishes are in and the tomatoes are starting to come in also……yet another tomato sandwich with mayo and a little red onion….yum.  Nothing better than a home grown tomato.

Back in my more youth days I was always trying to be the perfect “bod” to attract the ladies…..I even ventured into vegetarianism…….but that lasted until my first pang for a filet…..never tried the vegan path or the paleo path….both just sounded too trendy for my liking.

Back to the vegetarianism thing……

In case you’ve forgotten the section on the food web from high school biology, here’s a quick refresher

Plants make up the base of every food chain of the food web (also called the food cycle). Plants use available sunlight to convert water from the soil and carbon dioxide from the air into glucose, which gives them the energy they need to live. Unlike plants, animals can’t synthesize their own food. They survive by eating plants or other animals.

Clearly, animals eat plants. What’s not so clear from this picture is that plants also eat animals. They thrive on them, in fact (just Google “fish emulsion”). In my new book, “A Critique of the Moral Defense of Vegetarianism,” I call it the transitivity of eating. And I argue that this means one can’t be a vegetarian.

  1. “Me?
I am a meat eater….my eyes are in the front of my head…..that makes me a predator….period!”

    Haha…me too….though in moderation.
‘Sides Vegans are usually neurotic… spineless….. load of crap!
I have to my misfortune…. Met Far Too Many of Them…
That happens in the yoga world…
    🙁

      1. Ancient hunter gatherers …..foodies..
        Great for Vegans…hahaha…

  2. Bad as men who describe themselves as ‘feminist’
    yuk.

  3. Red meat is an un-affordable luxury in the Survival Bunker. These animals require way too much space and a ridiculous amount of feed. It’s a very ineffective “calorie exchange”. And because those animals almost certainly must stay on the surface, they also doubles as a security risk. (ie loud mooing drawing attention of hoards of starving wanderers dying -& killing- for a burger.)

But for that matter, with the growth & Western-ification of China, red meat consumption is going through the roof. Combine that with our declining economic prospects, meat may soon be priced out of the range of most North Americans.

So, “smoke ’em while you got ’em”. Because you’re probably only getting fish & maybe chicken in The Bunker.

      1. If you are what you eat, then that would make you like most Democrats…a pussy 😉

No space in my bunker for pussies!

      1. I love that friggin’ movie! And that’s exactly where we’re headed. I actually heard a couple years back that the plankton is starting to die off, a key element in the plot and right on schedule.

I’ve posted too many videos lately, otherwise I would post it. But the Madison Square Garden scene is exactly how most of us are going to check out, maybe not by 2022….but soon enough. Oh, and minus the dad from Eight Is Enough. But apart from that….

    1. Correct.
Chris Hedges is now a Vegan…..he is leading by example…grin
However, we as are eating far too much meat and the East is following the Western Diet.
Obesity is on the rise every single time the western corporations come in and destroy food habits…shame.
Still,it might reduce the population…on a more cynical note.
If I recall, the Bible says eat meat in the morning/lunch as it takes a long time to digest..
Ya don’t want that heaviness on ya belly late in the evening…
In Hunter Gatherer times It was ok…in these times it is not….

  4. There was some research done that indicated that it was when we stareted to cook food ,our brains grew bigger…you wld have to look it up…interesting..
Meanwhile,on a more positive note …. the film King Rat comes to mind.
When ya hungry ya eat anything…..
