Bowing to America’s Oligarchs

Ever noticed that the media has no problem calling out “oligarchs” in other countries but for some reason seem to remain silent on the ones here in the US….as if we do not have them…..after all we are a republican democracy….

The people in this country know we have these parasites but our media is working tirelessly to convince us that we are immune to such diseases.

Apparently, other countries, but not the U.S., have oligarchs. Billionaire and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker came and went to the National Press Club with hardly a tough question on Monday.

I’d submitted several questions, but first a word on the choreography of the event: Virtually every “news maker” event I recall seeing at the Press Club had the speaker at the head table which is on a stage a few feet up, speaking at a podium. This event, it was just her and the moderator, Press Club President Thomas Burr on two cushy chairs on the stage, with the “head table” below them. Whether this was to elevate the two of them, save her the trouble of having prepared remarks, or perhaps a new thing, an attempt to cast the billionaire in a more casual light — inspired by Davos-type events — I don’t know. But it was weird. [See video and PDF.]

America cannot move forward until a solution to this problem is created…..

  1. The difficulty lies in the simple fact those assholes own all, or virtually all, the news outlets available to most people… Those same people, who have little access to truth, are also the same ones who believe almost anything a talking head says to them, and are generally unwilling to use their mind for aught else but sitting on.

Not much chance for them, I’m afraid, and the rest of us aren’t enough to stem the tide against the sheer inertia of a society that works unceasingly to maintain the status quo, and prevent change…

This, of course, will never work for long, for the universe allows only the dead to remain unchanged…. Everything else WILL change, regardless of how any of us feels about it, or tries to affect it… Hence, homo suicidus…..

Hmm… seems to me change is happening all around us, every minute. We have to be astute enough, and tune our perceptions enough to be able to see them, or understand them, but, trust me, change is happening, as I type, and as you breathe….

It may not be the change you, or I desire, but, the universe doesn’t hold still at all, ever.

Axiom #2, Peruaosophy says: The Nature of the Universe is Change. Unpredictable, innovative transformation of Reality is the Norm. If you have a tough time with this, you are in for a rough ride in Life.”

      2. Aw, don’t be scared of a little entropy… it’s relatively harmless, considering it’s all balanced out by the implicit order that also exists on the other side of our coin….which we call reality.

Everything in THIS universe, that we can perceive, exists in balance of order and entropy, with the balance swinging one way or another at all times.

It is only OUR perceptions, and our judgment of those perceptions, which causes fear of this. This fear is not necessary; all you need to do is accept, and learn how to cope with it.

        Simple, yes?

Well, no, but, essential to being free, and happy….

      3. *grin* Well, whatever floats the boat… There is a difference between using drugs, and abusing them. The danger, again, and again, and again, is ignorance of what one is doing with them. If used, as you say, to help cope, they can be of value; if used to avoid reality, & hide from truth, then, they only lead to destitution & death. The universe doesn’t care which we choose.

But, I do. Can’t help it; that’s part of having an ego, having feelings…. It’s up to us to control them, or let them control us…

      4. Oh, btw… my reference to the dead remaining unchanged… Their body rots; they are still dead, and that isn’t going to change.

Like any other form of energy that manifests in our universe, their ‘soul’/’spririt’/’ego’/’consciousness’ is merely changed into another form, like kinetic to electric, or back again… Thus is death, or destruction, as always, the beginning of creation of something new.

  2. A majority of Americans can’t even figure out how to vote, never mind vote correctly. The majority of Americans barely have a clue how their own democracy is supposed to work, never mind how an oligarchy screws that up.

Hell, the majority of Americans can’t even spell “oligarchy”. Nor do they care what it is, let alone want to do anything about it. They don’t have time for any of that shit. They’ve got important pictures of their breakfast to post on Loserbook.
