Remove The President

NOTE:  I am not saying that Trump should go…this is nothing but an FYI of what is being said and why.  Please try not to attack me for these are not my thoughts just a regurgitation of what others are saying….

These days there is this back and forth about what the President knew and when…some think he is getting a raw deal while others think he dug his own grave…..and that debate will rage on until some new shiny object is dangled in front of their faces.

But for the sake of argument let’s say that the “bad guys” find a way to remove Trump from his Ivory Tower….what then?

Many think that he will resign to save losing…apparently he must win……

The decision to name the universally-respected former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel on the Russian election scandal is a defining moment in modern American history that sets off a chain reaction that probably leads to the ultimate resignation of President Trump.

On Feb. 15, I wrote an op-ed in The Hill titled, “Putingate is our Watergate.” It was true then. It is true now. The Putingate scandal will probably end the same way the Watergate scandal ended, with a presidential resignation followed by a pardon.

Even Trump’s co-author of the “Art of the Deal” does not see it ending well for Trump……..

The co-writer of President Trump’s bestselling book “The Art of the Deal” predicted Thursday that Trump will resign before he is consumed by one of the scandals rocking the White House.

In an interview with CNN, Tony Schwartz said that Trump is in “pure terror” that the scandals surrounding his administration could boil over to impeachment, and will likely walk away.

Will it solve all the problems in this country?  Some seem to talk that talk.

Well according to The American Conservative…..not much!

America is in crisis. It is a crisis of greater magnitude than any the country has faced in its history, with the exception of the Civil War. It is a crisis long in the making—and likely to be with us long into the future. It is a crisis so thoroughly rooted in the American polity that it’s difficult to see how it can be resolved in any kind of smooth or even peaceful way. Looking to the future from this particular point in time, just about every possible course of action appears certain to deepen the crisis.

What is it? Some believe it stems specifically from the election of Donald Trump, a man supremely unfit for the presidency, and will abate when he can be removed from office. These people are right about one thing: Trump is supremely unfit for his White House job. But that isn’t the central crisis; it is merely a symptom of it, though it seems increasingly to be reaching crisis proportions of its own.

With all the hearings these days the term “impeachment” has re-entered into the discourse…..but what do most people know about the process to impeach?

Let me help…….

Former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee exacerbated concerns that President Donald Trump may have tried to kill an investigation into his national security advisor, and in so doing committed a criminal offense — obstruction of justice. On the same day but across the Atlantic, the British election that demonstrated surprisingly weak public support for Prime Minster Theresa May served as a reminder of how different the tools are here, in the United States, for dealing with an unpopular or failing elected leader than they are in a parliamentary system.

We cannot call snap elections or votes of no confidence. A president is elected to a four-year term and is not subject to recall. In four years, the people weigh in again and say yes or no to a second term, after they have some perspective on his performance. To cut short a president’s term in office before it is finished is to contravene the will of the people as expressed in the election — the most fundamental act of democracy — and should be done in only the rarest and most exceptional of cases.

Now we have even more ammo for the “Dump Trump” movement……thanx to his son and some emails……

Do you think President Donald Trump will get impeached? These gamblers do. The Irish website Paddy Power says odds are for the bet, “Will Trump Be Impeached In His First Term?” are the highest it has ever been.

Spokesperson Lee Price told Fortune that odds shot up to 60 percent on Wednesday. Trump “had gone quiet over the last month, and we were starting to wonder if he might have ridden out the initial controversies – but he’s back with a bang today,” Lee said in an email.

The spokesman said hundreds of thousands of pounds were placed on impeachment. Odds of the process happening as soon as this year were at 33 percent.

Closing Thought–12Apr17

“the ones mother gives you does nothing at all”

This country has our elite troops….Green Berets, Rangers, Delta Force, SEALs and others…..and these troopers have accomplished some amazing feats most of which we mere mortals may never know to what extent……

A disturbing story has come out about drug use among our elites…the SEALs…..

One of the most honored and respected segments of the U.S. military is battling an enemy within. For the first time, Navy SEALs are talking publicly about drug abuse in the ranks.

“I’m sitting in this chair because I’m not proud anymore to be in the community because of the direction that it’s going,” said one of the Navy SEALs who came forward.

Three Navy SEALs — one active duty, two retired — agreed to talk to us on camera if we disguised their faces and change their voices to protect them from retribution.

I will not sit here and condemn any of this…..you see when in Vietnam and we had a long mission…..5 days or more….we were given “bennies” to help us stay awake and alert….so I do not think that the military has moved beyond that sort of things today when were are asking these elite troops to do more and more.

Is a Trump Presidency Good News for the Military-Industrial Complex?

During the campaign Mr. Trump made all sorts of promises……the one that I was impressed with was his unswerving commitment to “draining the swamp” of elites and his non-interventionists rhetoric….

I was hoping that his disdain for the M-IC elites would help put the US on new footing in international affairs…

Now that he was won the election and started naming his cabinet my enthusiasm is waning……he seems to be embracing the very people that he bad mouthed all through his campaign……

As with so much of what Donald Trump has said in recent months, his positions on Pentagon spending are, to be polite, a bundle of contradictions. Early signs suggest, however, that those contradictions are likely to resolve themselves in favor of the usual suspects: the arms industry and its various supporters and hangers-on in the government, as well as Washington’s labyrinthine world of think-tank policymakers and lobbyists. Of course, to quote Yogi Berra at this strange moment: it ain’t over till it’s over. Eager as The Donald may be to pump vast sums into a Pentagon already spending your tax dollars at a near-record pace, there will be significant real-world obstacles to any such plans.

Let’s start with a baseline look at the Pentagon’s finances at this moment. At $600 billion-plus per year, the government is already spending more money on the Pentagon than it did at the peak of the massive military buildup President Ronald Reagan initiated in the 1980s. In fact, despite what you might imagine, the Obama administration has pumped more tax dollars into the military in its two terms than did George W. Bush. According to the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, the U.S. currently spends four times what China does and 10 times what the Russians sink into their military.

For all Trump’s disdain for the “elites”….not to mention all of it by Right wing turds….they, the elites, seem to be falling in line with Mr. Trump……

The swamp that was suppose to be drained….seems to be getting a bit more crowded as the days go by……

One last question….is Trump’s phone secure?  I mean he thinks that Twitter is better than sliced bread….is it secure?  What else does he do on that phone?

Bowing to America’s Oligarchs

Ever noticed that the media has no problem calling out “oligarchs” in other countries but for some reason seem to remain silent on the ones here in the US….as if we do not have them…..after all we are a republican democracy….

The people in this country know we have these parasites but our media is working tirelessly to convince us that we are immune to such diseases.

Apparently, other countries, but not the U.S., have oligarchs. Billionaire and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker came and went to the National Press Club with hardly a tough question on Monday.

I’d submitted several questions, but first a word on the choreography of the event: Virtually every “news maker” event I recall seeing at the Press Club had the speaker at the head table which is on a stage a few feet up, speaking at a podium. This event, it was just her and the moderator, Press Club President Thomas Burr on two cushy chairs on the stage, with the “head table” below them. Whether this was to elevate the two of them, save her the trouble of having prepared remarks, or perhaps a new thing, an attempt to cast the billionaire in a more casual light — inspired by Davos-type events — I don’t know. But it was weird. [See video and PDF.]
