I am an outspoken critic of our dynamite mainstream media…..especially when it comes to international stuff…..they do not report on anything that cannot be turned into a multi day speculation tour of journalists. And I am not alone….there are many people asking the same questions.
The media is no longer dedicated to the news but rather the entertainment value of stories…..thus the American public is more uninformed than the rest of the world.

I would call it more, the monetary value of the story, since that what it all boils down to.
If they cannot turn it it a reality show then it is not worthy of reporting….

Given the avaricious intent of everyone who breathes in this country (mostly) I think the American public is getting exactly what it deserves in the way of information. It’s definitely getting it the way it wants, in short, factless bursts of shiny lights, complete with sound-track, just like watching a movie about Vietnam. Ever since that era, journalism has done little more than parrot whatever spin the current politicos want, so long as it makes them THEIR share of the money so wasted…. We are witnessing the exact opposite of how to maintain a democratic republic, in which the citizens must take part, and be informed. The American public wants no part of anything that doesn’t distract them from the emptiness of their lives; if they had information, they’d have to think, and then they’d miss the Super Bowl;….
Just a short mini-rant to start the week. Stupid is as stupid does, and the stupids now rule….

And remember, the media we’re talking about here is the Mainstream NEWS Media. That’s the absolute “cream of the crop” of the media and it only represents a small percentage of the average person’s TV media intake. More people spend more time watching Real Housewives of Boise than the news. Then factor in the Web-pipes! Most people spend as much time on TMZ (& other celeb shit) in a day than they spend accessing ALL news media platforms in a month. (TV, newspapers, Web-pipes, etc)
To be fair, considering how little attention is paid to journos, I can see the temptation of just throwing their hands in the air and giving up. (As they so clearly have.) But still.
I think it is the contracts that made them rollover….MSNBC’s Scarborough makes about $5 million a year…..not bad and he can speculate his ass off with no repercussions…not bad….

But great point! Even if you get exposed as a totally incompetent hack in your first year & get fired, (as if that ever happens!) you still have enough money to last you the rest of your life, especially if you hide it from the Taxman in Panama.
