There are some that claim the US is an imperial-esque power….and of course there will oppose such accusations…..but let’s look….first at the British Empire in 19th century…..
Now let’s take a look at where the US has troops deployed in that same globe…..
Now I realize that a case can be made that this is all about national security….but the Brits had troops stationed in their sphere of control back 100 years or so….and that was billed as national security.
At what point does this look like control more than national security?

America is an empire …. Still to this day. It “owns” 5 territories, Puerto Rico bring one of them. American Samoa, Guam … 2 more.

I say, of course it is an empire. Though, I might alter the label a bit, adding a label to make it clearer… to wit: corporate empire… bought and paid for with the illusory money they all love so well…

Anybody who argues America isn’t an Empire is completely delusional. I can’t think of ONE SINGLE WAY America doesn’t meet the criteria of Empire…and then some. And lately, it’s been looking MORE Empirical, not less.
But is the Empire about to go down like Britain’s did? That is to say, rename it a Commonwealth, declare their former colonies “Friends with Benefits” and drop the whole expensive, soul sucking, proposition?
HELL NO!!! Outside of soccer stadiums, Brits are a civilized, polite & peaceable people…even while subjugating half the globe by force. They took the collapse of their Empire with the classic stiff-upper-lip”. “Cheerio darkies! Let’s have tea sometime.”
Americans are the complete opposite. They are violent barbarians with huge stockpiles of weapons and matching hair-triggers. America will implode into outright anarchy before it will give up it’s Empire. Millions would rather have to walk around with an AR15 & body-armour all the time than give up on cheap oil & cell-phones made by Asian kids in virtual slavery. They’d rather live in a bunker than give up their Hummer. They’d rather look like Sierra Leone than settle for being #2 in the world.
However, the American Empire will go down someday. But it plans on taking the rest of us with it.
