This election has had a plethora of rhetoric about the possibility of the US once again moving toward war footing……is that really necessary?
With all the violence worldwide the very thought of a peaceful world is merely a dream…..a dream that few speak of these days…..most of the rhetoric is about how to defeat, subjugate or destroy our enemies…..nothing is being said of ways to end our conflicts without killing massive amounts of people, including our own troops.
If we are truly honest with the American people then we need to tell them the fact that there is NO military solution for the conflict in Syria……but we know that will not happen….why? Not popular.
Longtime UN diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi talks about how to end the tragedy, and when you really need diplomacy.

If there is no military solution for Syria….then why not try a unique solution…..try to find a peaceful solution to the problem?
Peace is the keystone of liberty and prosperity. To completely understand why, it will be important to develop a theory of peace.
Most arguments against war at least partially rely on empirical evidence. Anti-war literature tends to draw from past calamitous consequences of foreign interventionism. Here I will endeavor to make the case for peace using only theoretical incentive analysis.

Peace is not a popular concept in these days of bravado of the election process…..but unless this country wants to remain on a “war footing” for generations then maybe it is time for some serious thought of trying to help build a more peaceful world.
I realize that war is good business…..but to someone that has lived through such obscenities I say it is time to learn and build a theory of peace…..for the sake of our country and the world.
Any thoughts?

Or maybe this should be said more often……..

I have kind of an unusual “Take” on what the role of The U.S. Military should be. I have always thought the role of our Armed Forces should be to defend the homeland against attack by enemy aggressors bent on conquest or destruction. I have never subscribed to the role of our Military as Law Enforcement for the World. In my view that would fall more under the classification of something Alexander The Great might have dreamed up. I think our Military is very much misused by elected officials who should stick with political maneuvering and leave the defense of the nation to the Generals. Enough blood for oil!
An argument could be made that it is what they are doing….not by me….I agree with you…only if we are in danger as a nation.
The subtleties of empire decline are rarely discerned until the wolf has passed through the door or the trojans have descended from the horse.
“Jobs Bill” I am sniggering out loud! “War what is it good for?” dru
NOTHING!
ABSOLUTELY! me

An article that made me think as well as laugh. I don’t find much to laugh at these days (except the election) but I find far too much to think about. dru
I do appreciate the re-blog…..chuq
You’re Welcome, I appreciated the blog. dru
To take a view of the big picture, consider a moment there are now almost eight billion humans on the face of this planet. Of those 8 billion, more than 7.5 billion of them hold some beliefs in common, as part of their nature, to wit:
By virtue of being born in a certain place, they are therefore ‘of’ that place, ie to be born here is to be an American, They also believe this entitles them to a certain degree of ‘specialness’, for some unknown (to me) reason, for they had nothing to do with where they were born.
By virtue of their belief in a supernatural being of great power who created them, they believe they are ‘chosen ones’ and entitled to look at anyone who does not believe as ‘other’, and not deserving of equal rights or treatment.
By virtue of being male, they believe they are better than females. This one I’ve NEVER understood, because, to be frank, all the evidence points to the sexes being different, but, absolutely equal in importance to survival, in their own way. I think it’s because most men are just little children who never grew out of their fear of their own sense of inadequacy…. but, that’s just me.
(You may note I am leaving out the other major delusion humanity engages in, to wit: money. Hey, I can’t fit ALL of it in, though it certainly does contribute to the overall problem involved in human interaction, but, mostly to reinforce the idiocy of the other beliefs, by making its adherents even more obsessive about something that isn’t real….)
All three (okay, four…) of these beliefs are false. They are based on opinions based on wishful thinking, without any evidence in reality that may support any of them. Thus, we can see, I think, it is rather a silly proposition to expect any sort of culture to arise that reflects human nature that will NOT be violent, and stupid, and childish, for that is our nature, and most of us just can’t accept that truth…. Without accepting, and understanding it, it will never be gotten past, to where humans might be considered adult…
Reality, sadly, cares nothing for what we believe, and will assert its relevance when its had enough of our foolishness, for we are, in truth, Homo Suicidus….
gigoid, the dubious
What can I say…only one thing….Homo Suicidus. chuq
Aye… Sad to say, there are times I have to believe ignorance would truly be bliss…
Ah, well, so be it, eh? Not much to do about it now but enjoy the rest of the ride, & make it easy as we can for our own…

Dubious: I think i luv you! For sure I loved Hunter S. THANX for all your comments, they appeal to the “dark side” of me. “saywhatUmean2say”
I guess I shall never be blissful…LOL chuq
LOL… yeah, me either…. Oh, well…

Hey, considering how many motherfuckers America is killing out there, it may take longer to get to 8 billion people than expected.
Well, they are slowing it down some, but, not enough to account for how fast our species breeds. The numbers don’t lie, and you can watch them yourself, here:
http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock/
We are at 7.38 billion, and climbing fast. Once the curve becomes parabolic, it goes to infinite speed of reproduction; we are very near that point on the curve that describes our growth…
The question is only which will happen first; complete chaos due to the number of individuals pushing resources to the limit, or, an atmospheric catalytic reaction to the chemicals now being released into the air by the melting permafrost, which will, at some point, cause the atmosphere to become unbreathable for oxygen breathers…
Six of one, half dozen of the other, as they say…
Or, as Bhodi Dharma used to say, if the thunder don’t get ya, then the lightnin’ will…
gigoid, the dubious
President Trump will get us back down to 6 billion (or less) within his 1st 100 days in office. 🙂
HaHaHa and your check is in the mail…
And I’m sorry to say that I believe that TRUE WORLD PEACE would cause entropy and finally as all engery stopped, the end of the world or the eventual start of World War 4,since WW III would be over. I believe in conflict but wish it would be more isolated and sequential instead of all consuming. dru
Want will always feed war….eliminate want and you can slowdown war or even eliminate it….chuq
