Life is good for the media…..the raging debate for the last month has been one of immigration.
The blogosphere has exploded with posts and photos of the world’s newest humanitarian crisis…..the Middle East refugee.
First Trump with uncontrollable mouth and then the Middle East crisis…..the civil wars and the resulting refugees that are fleeing the violence and destruction.
Of course damn neat everybody has an opinion on this subject…….and every politician has to dash to the cameras and get his two cents in as worthless as most of it is…..but with all the hatred and anger and debate and compassion……few people are asking hard questions instead prefer simple accusations and lies…..

Reminds me of my downtown.
Perfectly good buildings getting blown up and homeless people living in tents. But here, we call it “progress” and want more of it.
My town we tear down historical buildings and put up casinos….ain’t greed grand?

My new mayor is a particularly smarmy, hypocritical, fuckwad in the historical destruction department. This smirking asshole is SO adept at being utterly corrupt while sporting a shit-eating grin he….oh I feel a stroke coming on.
The list of his misdeeds is a long one that requires a long story. Even by my standards. Here’s the shortest possible version of just the FIRST example of Mayor McFilth’s campaign of historical-building-genocide. And he wasn’t even MAYOR yet!
During the election to replace the previous mayor (now a convicted felon), McFilth was running as “Mr Clean” and “Mr Anti-Development”. (This despite every developer in town donating the legal maximum to his campaign.) In order to “save downtown”, there was this idiotic, ultra-controversial, proposal to turn a 150 year old, family-owned, department store (the most successful retail store left downtown) into…a “satellite campus” for 100-200 broke-ass community college kids! It was rightly voted down. However, Councillor McFilth created a bogus way to break council bylaws & hold a “re-vote” during the last Council Meeting before the election. He had orchestrated a secret deal (aka bribe) to flip a councillor’s vote. This illegal “re-vote” gave the college an EXTRA $10 million to “renovate” (aka flatten) the beloved gem. In all, Council gave the community college $67 million to “renovate” a 3 story building with NO internal walls or obstacles….other than the still-working Pneumatic Tube Transport system and manually operated elevators! This place was like stepping into PBS’ show, Mr Selfridge!
Coincidentally, McFilth’s campaign manager is on the community college’s Board. Coincidentally, his campaign manager is also a major developer. Coincidentally, the store, the store owner, and every member of his family contributed the maximum amount to McFilth’s campaign. Not only that, the closed store opened back up to hold Councillor McFilth’s glitzy fundraising party attended by every developer and major downtown landholder. When asked about the conflict of interest, he said with a grin “What conflict?”
In the less than a year since McFilth taking office, every major retailer left has left downtown, including 8 stores that have been there for 50+ years. Meanwhile 1/2 of all properties downtown have proposals to knock down the perfectly good buildings on them and replace them with hideous glass towers…even though the ones already there are half empty.
Anyway…..Thankfully, my town’s casino has not been announced…YET. But that’s only because my province needs to pass some legislation first… to make casinos legal! However, most of the groundwork (aka levelling to the ground of perfectly good buildings) has already been accomplished. That’s how presumptuous this scheming, bribe taking, ladder-climbing, cocksucker is. (No offence to people who suck cock. I wholeheartedly apologize for the comparison to my mayor.)
