Thus Spake Herman Cain

I have been watching the GOP field begin to take some sort of shape and from what I have seen in their front runners…..you guys are in trouble……A reader of Info Ink, Terrance of Right Libertarian (go to blogroll and visit his interesting site) recently posted on his blog that he was a fan of Herman Cain, at least for now….I found it interesting and decided to do a little research into this candidate, because, to be truthful, I did not know this man very well….and what I found was very surprising to me……

First of all…if you are interested on his stands on the major issues….then check it out…….hermancain.com/the-issues

Let me say that I do not agree with much that he has to say on the issues, but he has some good stands and describes them in a simplistic way so that the average voter can understand the issue and his solution…..I will say that I like this guy….and NO I will most likely NOT vote for him…..rather I appreciate that he is a seemingly forthright candidate…….what attracted me at first to Cain was some of his interviews and his words……like……

First of all, he has said as president that he would not sign a bill that was longer than 3 pages…….then he said in Iowa that he would appoint qualified people and would have NO problem with an openly gay person…..next he stated the “stupid people are ruining America”….something I agree with completely, though we may not be talking about the same people….but the words are good…..

Cain’s advocacy of, among other things, the so-called Fair Tax, which would eliminate the federal tax code in favor of a national consumption tax on retail sales. He also supports returning to the gold standard.  Some of that I find appealing in a weird sort of way…….I think the GOP could do a lot worse than nominating Cain…..and they probably will!

But the thing that I like the best about this man is when asked about his foreign policy knowledge he said……”I’m working real hard on understanding heads of state, on other countries around the world, being able to pronounce their names properly. Being able to have their proper title when I talk about them in that context. Yes, that is an area that I have not focused on because when I was doing my radio show, foreign affairs didn’t come up that often in terms of what my listeners wanted… So when it comes to other nations, friend or foe, I have a lot of homework to do, but I’m in the process of doing that homework to get up to speed.”

At least he is not so arrogant to pretend he has a knowledge that he obviously does not…..and he is genuine enough to say that he is studying and cramming for the possibility of a nomination….I can appreciate that also…….

He seems to be a character that is needed in the boring GOP……he needs to be taken seriously by everyone, especially the media which has not done a very good job of getting the public acquainted with the candidate…..it is a injustice to ignore this man and focus on some quasi-king maker that will not admit whether they are running or not……the media needs to be taken to task for their oversight.

Unlike some almost candidates. I really liked what he said. Straightforward and honest.

    1. Yes. agree with both of you. You may not like his policies (actually, although it doesn’t matter THAT much to me as a non-American, I DO like a lot of what he says), but you have to respect someone who has actually THOUGHT about subjects that need to be addressed and is apparently honest and open, particularly about their shortcomings and doing their damndest to put that right.

      Good post, Lobo!

      1. Quin, like I said…I appreciate a person that would say that he/she does not know everything and that they will do their best to learn what is needed….thanx and yes, he seems to be genuine and straightforward….something the GOP is NOT that good at in recent years….

    2. I also was impressed with the man…..a shame that he will be drowned out by the fake humans running in the lead…..

    1. That’s just one reason why he shouldn’t be POTUS. Hearing someone admit that they need to learn more was refreshing. You know, instead of hemming, hawing, and “refudiating.”

      1. Spinny, unless something changes he will not be the nominee…….the old farts want Romney or Pawlenty and to me it seems Pawlenty is the more attractive of the two……

      2. T-Paw is definitely the more attractive one of the two – for Conservatives, anyway. Romneycare and the Mormon thing might be Romney’s nails in the coffin. But he has the most money. Maybe he’ll buy the nomination.

    2. I did not see that and thanx for the update, Larry….that would make him less attractive if I were a conserv…..

    3. He is short on knowledge on such subjects, obviously, but there is a small degree of truth in that – not ALL Muslims by a long way of course (or even a majority, or even close I imagine), but then we are all directly or indirectly driven or seriously affected by the lunatics who make up the various extremist (frequently religious based) movements around the world, aren’t we?

Nevertheless, as Lobo said, at least the guy tells it like it is for him – you can vote for him or not on that basis and I’ve never been a fan of all the PC crap that insists we employ people we don’t like and don’t feel we can trust, just on because of that most subjective and illusive of ideals – “equality”

Personally, given the choice and opportunity, I wouldn’t allow ANYONE who was, or even professed to be, a devout follower of ANY organised religion anywhere near government (it shows a lack of judgement in my opinion, apart from questions of loyalty etc. when the chips are down), but then that’s just down to MY beliefs… Atheists rule – yeah! At least I’m honest about it…

      1. See we agree on somethings…LOL To be honest, there are certain types of people that I would not put in my government if I was elected king……sorry, my bad….president…..

    4. I do appreciate his willingness to admit that he lacks knowledge on the foreign diplomacy front, unlike other media hogs (looking squarely at Sarah Palin), but his stands on gays and Muslims is deplorable. Add in his denial of his statements on not hiring employing Muslims when there is documented proof readily available…………….no thank you.

    5. It’s not up to Herman Cain or any other infidel to explain or justify Islam. It is, however, absolutely the responsibility of Muslims to clean their own house when it needs it, or to live with the results of not doing so. Birds of a feather, and all that… Those who distrust and disparage Islam are, unfortunately, reacting to the public record that has been constructed throughout history and throughout the world. The exception, to a degree, was that Jews and Muslims co-existed, traded, and inter married throughout the Holy Land region, prior to the Bretton Woods agreement that created Israel. For my part, they can do as they like, so long as they leave me and mine alone and in peace. America already has laws and a culture that have served us well. Works for me… Whether I can continue on in my blissful ignorance remains to be seen though…

  2. Honest.. Plain spoken. Smart. Record of real world success. Classy. All absolute requirements of anyone who wishes to represent and lead our American Republic. Herman Cain stands head and shoulders above the rest on all of these. The rest is just details, folks.
    Run, Herman, Run!

    1. I like what I have seen so far….and welcome aboard Ed….thanx for stopping by please visit as often as you can….
