Mosque Of A Different Color

Just thought I would let my readers know that this post was inspired by a comment to Quin at Quintessential Havoc (GO!  Blogroll will take you to his site…thoughtful and insightful) about the religious and political theater developing over the mosque in NYC.

In case you were wondering….a VOMITORIUM is where people go to pass on political regurgitation…..and this subject is all about such an occurrence…..

Second, I am by NO means condoning nor condemning the idea of a Islamic Center near Ground Zero…..what I will speak about is the whole affair through the lens of the US Constitution…..

Holy Crap!  Did you hear what the President had to say about the building of the center near ground zero?

“As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country,” Mr. Obama told an intently listening crowd gathered at the White House Friday evening to observe the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

“That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances,” he said. “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.”

And after he said that…the firestorm of the fanatical Right began firing the shots at what the Prez had to say….it was going to be inevitable…..

Gingrich, a Republican and former House speaker, also condemned the president’s comments.

“There is nothing surprising in the president’s continued pandering to radical Islam,” Gingrich said. “What he said last night is untrue and inaccurate. The fact is this is not about religious liberty.”

Gingrich said that the proposed mosque and community center would be a symbol of Muslim “triumphalism” and that building it near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks “would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust museum.”

This is just pure political bullsh*t….you Know it…they know it!
This is NOT an issue that needs to be spent time on….people are starving, losing homes, unemployed and totally screwed and these dipshits want to fight on and on for something emotional…….
It is simple…..the 1st amendment of the Constitution….may I say to the creeps on the Right….if you cannot live with the laws that are given in the Constitution then scrap it and start over!  You cannot pick and choose what parts of the document you want to live by or defend….it is either ALL OR NOTHING.  And if you are not capable of doing either one….then shut the Hell up!

It seems to be a trend in American culture….that it is NOT my fault….always someone else’s,,,,the economy is a good example…..fingers were pointed in every direction….same with the Gulf Oil spill….NO one wants to take the responsibility for their actions…normal people are just as bad as the “Fat Cats”……

The part that got to me was that the driver had to flee the scene because people were attacking him…..think about that for a minute…..it was his fault that Drunken MORONS were standing about 10 feet from where he had to come out of the turn…..and it is somehow his fault that people got hurt when he lost control…..that about it?

This is why I dislike most people….few “man up” to their f*ck ups….

The point I am trying to make is that since 1917 there have been closet socialists trying to take over the government…at least, that is what the paranoid lame brain morons would have you believe……..it all boils down to YOUR definition of a socialist…..in the beginning almost all socialists were social democrats…that changed in 1917 with the rise of the Communists and the ideological battles fought between socialist and communist and somewhere along the way the social democrats became as liberal political movement not the radical movement of the communists/socialists…..

I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to educate idiots that the use of the word socialist or Communist or Marxist is just plain lame and is nothing more than a boring tactic to incite fear…..

Would a socialist accept the concept that political change could be brought about peaceably and constitutionally?

Would a socialist accept capitalism as the ONLY reliable means  of generating wealth?

Would a socialist see the defects in capitalism and rectify them economics and social engineering?

Would a socialist view the nation state as a meaningful unit of political rule with a significant capacity to regulate economic and social life?

From what you know about socialism…answer the questions……

If you know anything then your answers would have to be NO!

There is a way of looking at social democracy, which above is…if you take a few of the “sociaslists ideals like redistribution of wealth, economic management and equality then we can make a case of Social Democracy being a sort of “socialist lite”……..but NOWHERE is this a radical form of socialism if anything it is a bit liberal in thought, modern definition not classical.

Personally, I do NOT consider social democracy as a form of socialism, but then I am not a pundit that wants to create hate and fear….to me this is what use to be called “neorevisionism”, a way to find a bridge between capitalism and socialism which to me looks a lot like what now is called neo-liberalism (a post for the future…watch for it).  Yes, there are too many “isms” in this post but I wanted to show just how complicated we can make political philosophy….

To me socialism is NOT about the ballot box and because social democracy depends on the ballot box I do NOT consider it as an indication of what is truly socialism….but then again I am not a traditional political philosopher by any stretch of the imagination….
