From the VOMITORIUM
First it was Arizona and its SB 1070…..it became all the rage on the airwaves….then other states jumped on the bandwagon trying to gain some political advantage for the GOP in the upcoming mid-terms……and of course, the usual suspects on the Right, especially those on the tube began the massive attacks on the admin for their lack of immigration stands…..then came the GOP and other conservs that started attacking the 14th amendment of the Constitution wanting to repeal it as a way to control illegal immigration…..it seems that according to the GOP illegals cross the border with the sole idea of having their children in the US so they will be citizens……as usual the admin just had to do something to try and quiet the opposition……the Congress passed the bill to show that they were determined to stop the flow of illegals entering the US….the bill is amazing (that is sarcasm) as reported in the AP……
The border security measure would fund the hiring of 1,000 new Border Patrol agents to be deployed at critical areas along the border, 250 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and 250 more Customs and Border Protection officers.
It provides for new communications equipment and greater use of unmanned surveillance drones. There are currently seven such drones along the border. Almost one-third of the money goes to the Justice Department to help agencies such as the FBI, the DEA and the ATF deal with drug dealers and human traffickers.
The bill is paid for by raising fees on foreign-based personnel companies that use U.S. visa programs, including the popular H-1B program, to bring skilled workers to the United States. India says higher fees would discriminate against its companies and workers.
This will do little to stop undocumented aliens from flooding the border….i9t will, however, give the Dems some ammo they can use to counter anything that the Repubs try to use during the mid-terms…..This will do little to stop people from trying to enter the US to go to work….but it looks good on paper and on the campaign trail.
