2024–The RNC Promises

Things you need to know before you vote.

For god’s sake know what you are voting for in November!

Not much has been written yet about the new platform for the 2024 election by the RNC…..promises with no solutions offered.

The first promise (read….Lie) is a return to commonsense.

Seriously?

Then it goes on to list 20 planks of the party….

To make clear our commitment, we offer to the American people the 2024 GOP Platform to Make America Great Again!

It is a forward-looking Agenda that begins with the following twenty promises that we will accomplish very quickly when we win the White House and Republican Majorities in the House and Senate.  (There you have it……only if they control both Houses and the White House….if not then all bets are off.)


1. SEAL THE BORDER, AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION

How will you do this?


2. CARRY OUT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY


3. END INFLATION, AND MAKE AMERICA AFFORDABLE AGAIN

Explain the plan to make this happen


4. MAKE AMERICA THE DOMINANT ENERGY PRODUCER IN THE WORLD, BY FAR!


5. STOP OUTSOURCING, AND TURN THE UNITED STATES INTO A MANUFACTURING SUPERPOWER


6. LARGE TAX CUTS FOR WORKERS, AND NO TAX ON TIPS!

From the GOP?  I will believe it when I see!

13. KEEP THE U.S. DOLLAR AS THE WORLD’S RESERVE CURRENCY


14. FIGHT FOR AND PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE WITH NO CUTS, INCLUDING NO
CHANGES TO THE RETIREMENT AGE

This does not sound like something the GOP would even consider…..this one is the most suspicious of the lot.


15. CANCEL THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE MANDATE AND CUT COSTLY AND BURDENSOME REGULATIONS


16. CUT FEDERAL FUNDING FOR ANY SCHOOL PUSHING CRITICAL RACE THEORY, RADICAL GENDER
IDEOLOGY, AND OTHER INAPPROPRIATE RACIAL, SEXUAL, OR POLITICAL CONTENT ON OUR
CHILDREN

This is so much lies upon lies…..and the perfect way to control the future by indoctrinating the young…..does this sound familiar I asked of those that have a little historical knowledge.


17. KEEP MEN OUT OF WOMEN’S SPORTS


18. DEPORT PRO-HAMAS RADICALS AND MAKE OUR COLLEGE CAMPUSES SAFE AND PATRIOTIC AGAIN

Deport American citizens that oppose genocide….How?

Sounds more like a state problem than a federal one…..and a typical GOP outright lie.

This is my favorite….how will they accomplish this when hatred is a primary motivator?  The only thing broken in this country is our political discourse….where ignorance is being cultivated and the crop is stupidity.

Which one of these planks will improve your life and standing?

This is typical BS from the GOP…. tell them everything and deliver nothing.

Do not tell me what you will do but rather tell me how you will accomplish to end result…..is how I evaluate this stuff.

At what point do we stop buying into these fanciful statements and start looking for answers to the country’s problems…..none of the 20 planks are those answers.

Stop being a cult member and following some loud mouth bozo blindly and look to your neighbor and vote to improve his life and in doing so you will improve yours.

The testing ground for right wing stupidity seems to be Florida and Texas….and that brings me to the Texas GOP platform that has been approved.

Republican Party of Texas delegates voted Saturday on a platform that called for new laws to require the Bible to be taught in public schools and a constitutional amendment that would require statewide elected leaders to win the popular vote in a majority of Texas counties.

Other proposed planks of the 50-page platform included proclamations that “abortion is not healthcare it is homicide”; that gender-transition treatment for children is “child abuse”; calls to reverse recent name changes to military bases and “publicly honor the southern heroes”; support for declaring gold and silver as legal tender; and demands that the U.S. government disclose “all pertinent information and knowledge” of UFOs.

The party hopes to finalize its platform on Wednesday, after Saturday’s votes on each proposal are tabulated.

Passed by delegates at the party’s biennial convention, the platform has traditionally been seen not as a definitive list of Republican stances, but a compromise document that represents the interests of the party’s various business, activist and social conservative factions. But in recent years — and amid a party civil war that’s pushed it further right — the platform has been increasingly used as a basis for censuring Republican officeholders who the party’s far right has attacked as insufficiently conservative, including Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, and U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzalez, R-San Antonio.

As the party has drifted further right, its platform has done the same. In 2022, it called for a referendum on Texas secession; resistance to the “Great Reset,” a conspiracy theory that claims global elites are using environmental and social policies to enslave the world’s population; proclamations that homosexuality is an “abnormal lifestyle choice”; and a declaration that President Joe Biden was not legitimately elected.

The platform also takes a step further some of the party’s previous calls for more Christianity in public life. The 2022 platform proclaimed that the United States was “founded on Judeo-Christian principles,” for instance, and demanded the repeal of federal prohibitions on political activity by churches.

The 2024 platform goes significantly further: It urges lawmakers and the State Board of Education to “require instruction on the Bible, servant leadership and Christian self-governance,” and supports the use of religious chaplains in schools — which was made legal under a law passed by the state Legislature last year.

Will You Vote Democrat In November?

Just a mere 3 months before the vote of the century (at least that is what some are calling it)…..do you know what your candidate is promising?

So far we have two choices for our vote for president of the United States…..Repub Donald Trump or Democrat Joe Biden…this post is for those that think they will vote Dem in November.

Here is the platform that Joe Biden will be running on when he meets Trump in the head to head……

New draft text of the Democratic Party’s 2020 platform calls for bringing “forever wars to a responsible end” and pledges to end the U.S. role in the conflict in Yemen — a sharp reversal from the Obama administration’s policy of arming and assisting the Saudi-led intervention.

The 80-page text, first reported by the Washington Post, is a sign of how far the party’s center of gravity has shifted in four years. The draft was released Tuesday evening to the more than 150-member platform committee for an amendment process. It will likely be ratified at the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee next month.

With lengthy sections on racial justice, immigration, climate change, and health care, the document hews closely to many of the policy recommendations produced by a Biden-Sanders unity effort earlier this month. But that unity report largely left out foreign policy, which is where some of the Democratic platform draft’s most significant departures from the 2016 platform lie.

Let me inject my thoughts on Biden……can Joe breath new air into out international standing?

My answer is yes…..he is a centrists and that makes him a devotee of Neocon thought……

Centrist Democrats do not only see American interests and values threatened by Beijing’s growing assertiveness, on the contrary, they will also expect that American foreign policy remains committed to keeping in check Russia’s military assertiveness in Eastern Europe. Democratic Party centrists will particularly hope that Joe Biden will seek to leverage U.S financial and diplomatic support to the Ukrainian government while also keeping tough on Russia through economic and financial sanctions for its interference in Donbass and Crimea.

These pressing strategic priorities could spell out the gradual decline of U.S foreign policy presence in the Middle East. This is plausible given that centrist Democrats are now openly questioning whether the region is worth the high levels of military engagement that the U.S has maintained for decades. While Democratic Party centrists want Joe Biden to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, they would also want him to cease American defence support to Saudi Arabia. Centrists democrats aligned with South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttieg, are also calling for U.S troops to return without delay from America’s post-9/11 wars. As for Israel, while there is consensus among centrist Democrats that it remains in America’s national interest to support the security of the Jewish state, its survival is no longer in question, given Israel’s military power to defend itself.

What Happened To Country First?

Country and its people use to come first with politicians….that has slipped from the collective memory of the voter….now we vote along lines….partisan crap and the country takes backseat to party politics…..

Our strength use to be political debate without the insulting and division…an op-ed says it better than I could……

For many decades the US had a substantive debate on policy…now it is just plain silly….both parties were part of the discussion……now it is just sniping at each other from the TV cameras.

Back in 1944 FDR, a Dem, offered up an Economic Bill of Rights……

Among these are:

  • The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
  • The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
  • The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
  • The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
  • The right of every family to a decent home;
  • The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
  • The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
  • The right to a good education.

Keep in mind that was in 1944……then 12 years later the GOP platform had a familiar ring to it……and the candidate won the presidency…..IKE.


That was in 1956…the national platform of the GOP…….
Politicians have always been for sale just not so readily back in the days I reference.
Now compare the two and you will see they are similar with similar goals……those days are gone….but what a great country this would be if we all worked for a similar cause and effect.
Could we return to those days when our politicians had similar goals but their approach was slightly different?……those days are gone….now it is about division and insults and total stupidity.
The hate spewed these days makes a great country out of reach…….and the “new” era is only 6 months old…..a long long row to hoe.

GOP–When It Was A “Big Tent” Party……..

My grandfather, a man that I found to be an astute individual, was a Republican in his voting prime.  He always said that he could get behind their platform for it would strengthen the country and make it a much better place for ALL Americans.

The last time he voted was 1956…..

The years before Reagan and his assault on any one not privileged…aka “Welfare Queens”…..

If the GOP were still a party of ideas then I would be a Republican…but sadly they have long since vanished….replaced with a party of division, wealth and privilege……nothing they propose anymore will “make America great again”…..

Sadly there are no moderate or liberal Repubs left…..they have been replaced by the twats on the far Right….and that will be a worthless situation….very little if anything will be done in DC…..

Together, Donald Trump and his GOP cohorts who won on November 8 represent some of the worst tendencies in the country. Trump personifies our economic and social contradictions front and center, loud and clear. The mainstream media recognizes that Donald Trump certainly won, but few seem willing to discuss how the far right wrangled a significant victory on Election Day.

This should not be surprising. While members of the intelligentsia are now scrambling to vindicate our democratic system and call for unity, they spent years ignoring the cracks in its economic foundation. No doubt they would ignore the growing fissures now manifest, oblivious to the system poised to crash upon us. Their belief in the American status quo ushered Trump into the presidency.

Democratic Party Platform Disappoints

This election draws near to a conclusion….and I still post stuff that will hopefully educate the voter…..

To say that I was disappointed in the platform that the Dems settle on would be disingenuous on my part….personally I think that it is platform that would better suit the GOP than good loyal Dems……

Progressives vow to ”take the fight to Philadelphia” and battle for stronger platform at Democratic Party convention.

When contentious Democratic Party platform negotiations finally came to a close late on Saturday, progressives again left disappointed.

At the committee’s final meeting in Orlando, Florida, supporters of Hillary Clinton successfully voted down amendments supporting a single payer healthcare system, a nationwide ban on fracking, as well as an amendment objecting to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and characterizing the settlements as illegal.

The losses stung progressives already dismayed by the committee’s refusal to oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal in the platform earlier that day, among other defeats.

The Dems platform sucks the worse in history…..any true progressive, not those cowards in the Clinton camp, should look elsewhere for a candidate that best represents their issues……the Dems will NOT be that party!

“Most Progressive Dem Platform in History”

I do hope everyone had a good weekend….I know I did….but it is Monday….let’s get to work!

That is the spin that the Dem hawks want the voter to believe…..there is nothing “progressive” about the Dem platform…..if anything it fits well with the neoliberal bullsh*t that Clinton is selling with her campaign….

The Democratic Party platform may indeed be, as some have proclaimed, the “most progressive” in the history of the party—at least on various important domestic issues. But some of its foreign policy planks reflect a disturbingly hawkish worldview consistent with those of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Declaring that “we must defeat ISIS, al-Qaeda and their affiliates,” the platform calls for the United States and its allies to “destroy ISIS” strongholds in Iraq and Syria. There is no acknowledgement that these strongholds are in heavily populated urban areas, thereby risking large-scale civilian casualties, and no mention that the rise of these extremist organizations are a direct consequence of previous U.S. military interventions in the region.

Please take some time and learn what the Hell you are voting for….that really is not that much to ask….but only if you want to make an accurate vote…..after seeing the crop of candidates this time around….I am skeptical.

The Democratic convention leaves one with an uneasy sense of déjà vu about the potential foreign policy direction of a second Clinton presidency. We’ve seen this movie before and we know how it turns out: badly.

The mood among some of the Democratic Party’s foreign policy cognoscenti here is one of an unadulterated smugness bred of certainty mixed with a sense of global entitlement. One Democratic U.S. senator lamented to a roomful of well-heeled donors and foreign policy experts on Monday that the U.S. had “lost” Ukraine. Lost? Was it ever America’s to begin with?

DNC Platform Retains Traditional Militarism

Part of the deal in the long time between the end of the election cycle and Bernie’s endorsement has been told that he wanted his people on the platform committee….this would insure that the progressive ideas that he championed would be made part of the election rhetoric.

The problem is the DNC platform is a traditional cop-out of the Democrats and shows NO progress whatsoever…..

Phyllis Bennis tells Paul Jay that the platform debates ignored the wars in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, and instead included a call to audit the Pentagon rather than cut the military budget

The two-day meeting at the Democratic National Platform Committee in Orlando ended this weekend. In article for the Nation titled What the Democratic Party Platform Tells Us About Where We Are on War, Phyllis Bennis writes, the 35-page draft reminds us of two crucial realities, the limits of party politics while corporate and military interests dominate both parties and crucially the necessity of social movements to challenge those limits and sometimes to win.

I think Bernie failed in his attempt to make the platform more progressive……it smacks of neoliberalism.

But how will this play with those voters that supported his candidacy?  Could his loss be a blessing in disguise?  Something needs to be done to revive the anti-war movement….could this be that moment?

Dissing Progressives

The big news for the Dems has been the candidacy of Bernie Sanders…..his all out war with Clinton has given the progressives a voice….and especially with the upcoming convention……progressives will set the agenda….at least that was the propaganda put out to try and keep the Bernie supporters from jumping ship and supporting another candidate….other than Clinton……

The truth is the hardcore progressives were lied to….go figure….a Clinton lying…..I know how can this be?

Despite its claims to want to unify voters ahead of November’s election, the Democratic party appears to be pushing for an agenda that critics say ignores basic progressive policies, “staying true” to their Corporate donors above all else.

During a 9-hour meeting in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, members of the DNC’s platform drafting committee voted down a number of measures proposed by Bernie Sanders surrogates that would have come out against the contentious Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), fracking, and the Israeli occupation of Palestine. At the same time, proposals to support a carbon tax, Single Payer healthcare, and a $15 minimum wage tied to inflation were also disregarded.

Progressives looking for a fair and honest treatment by the Dem Party were just spit in the eye……
