A Call To Arms?

We do not need Paul and his horse anymore for we have the internet and social media.

Of course I am referring to the re4sponse from MAGA loyalists after the conviction of their hero recently…..

Is it truly a call to arms?

After a jury found Donald Trump guilty of 34 felony charges yesterday, Bronze Age Pervert, the alter ego of the edgelord influencer Costin Alamariu, retweeted one of his own posts from March. It is a movie clip depicting a scene of armed men storming buildings and gunning people down. In the text accompanying the post, Bronze Age Pervert jokes that the clip is real footage of a “well-planned neutralization operation” that will take place after Trump wins his reelection campaign.

The MAGA faithful are once again on the internet threatening violence. Lots of Republicans, of course, responded to Trump’s felony verdict with simple outrage rather than calls for a “neutralization operation.” But more extreme language has appeared all across the right-wing posting ecosystem. Some Proud Boys chapters responded with the word “war” on their Telegram channels, as reported by Wired, and Reuters found instances of Trump supporters calling for violence against jurors and the judge in the case, as well as calls for civil war and insurrection.

The rhetoric is getting very disturbing…..

As supporters of Donald Trump flood right-wing platforms with threats against the jurors and judge following guilty verdicts Thursday in his criminal case regarding hush money payments, fears are growing that the influence the Republican presumptive presidential nominee has over his supporters will soon lead to violence.

“Until and unless he accepts the process, the extremist reaction to his legal troubles will be militant,” Jacob Ware, a research fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, toldReuters.

The former president gave no sign of accepting the legal process Friday as he held a press conference at Trump Tower, repeating claims that the case had been “rigged.”

Shortly after a New York jury announced its verdict in the case regarding documents that were falsified to cover up payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniel just before the 2016 election to keep her from publicizing an alleged sexual encounter she had with Trump, right-wing websites like Gateway Pundit, Truth Social, and Patriots.Win saw an uptick in violent posts from users.

One commenter called for “someone in NY with nothing to lose” to “take care of” New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, while another on Gateway Pundit directed a threat at any and all opponents of Trump.

Social media could possibly make the reality of violence very likely….for we know how some creeps take all this tough talk to heart.

Even more calls for violence….

“Pick a side, or YOU are next,” wrote conservative talkshow host Dan Bongino on the Truth Social media platform in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s 34 felony convictions.

The replies were even more so.

“Dan, seriously now,” one user wrote in response to Bongino. “I see no way out of all this mess without bloodshed. When you can rig an election, then weaponize the government and the courts against a former President, what other alternative is there? I’m almost 70 and would rather die than live in tyranny.”

That’s a common version of how many people on the US right reacted to the ex-president’s verdict, drawing on a “mirror world” where Trump is seen as the selfless martyr to powerful state forces and Joe Biden is the dangerous autocrat wielding the justice system as his own personal plaything and a threat to US democracy.

Trump still pretends that he is rightfully the president and with the 2024 election is quickly approaching….the one question is if Trump is the nominee and he loses what will happen (again)….

Would Americans tolerate the chance of violence?

Since the insurrection of 06 January you would think that violence after an election is off the table…..

More than two years after the deadly January 6 insurrection, 12 million people in the United States, or 4.4% of the adult population, believe the use of violence is justified to restore former President Donald Trump to power, The Guardianreported Friday.

This percentage has declined from nearly 10% in 2021, when the Chicago Project on Security & Threats (CPOST) first began conducting its Dangers to Democracy surveys of U.S. adults. But April data the University of Chicago research center shared exclusively with The Guardian reveals that a treacherous amount of support for political violence and conspiracy theories persists nationwide.

In the two and a half years since Trump’s bid to overturn his 2020 loss fell short, Republican state lawmakers have launched a full-fledged assault on the franchise, enacting dozens of voter suppression and election subversion laws meant to increase their control over electoral outcomes. Due to obstruction from Republicans and corporate Democrats, Congress has failed to pass federal voting rights protections and other safeguards designed to prevent another coup attempt ahead of November 2024.

“We’re heading into an extremely tumultuous election season,” Robert Pape, a University of Chicago professor and CPOST director, told The Guardian. “What’s happening in the United States is political violence is going from the fringe to the mainstream.”

Several right-wing candidates who echoed Trump’s relentless lies about President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory lost in last year’s midterms. But more than 210 others—including at least two who participated in the January 6 rally that escalated into an attack on the U.S. Capitol—won congressional seats and races for governor, secretary of state, and attorney general, underscoring the extent to which election denialism is now entrenched in the GOP and jeopardizes U.S. democracy for the foreseeable future.

The CPOST survey conducted in April found that 20% of U.S. adults still believe “the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump and Joe Biden is an illegitimate president,” down only slightly from the 26% who said so in 2021.

We all know the saga of the documents confiscated at the ex-president’s Florida residence….and of course all the other investigations swirling around our Orange Man from Florida…..

Trump has issued a warning…..

Donald Trump is predicting big, if unspecified, trouble in the US if he is indicted over his handling of classified documents. “I think if it happened, I think you’d have problems in this country the likes of which perhaps we’ve never seen before,” he said on conservative Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Thursday, per the Washington Post. “I don’t think the people of the United States would stand for it.’ Hewitt pressed him on what he meant by “problems,” but Trump didn’t specify. “I think they’d have big problems, big problems,” he said, per the transcript. “I just don’t think they’d stand for it. They will not, they will not sit still and stand for this ultimate of hoaxes.”

When Hewitt told Trump the “legacy media” would accuse him of inciting violence, Trump responded: “That’s not inciting. I’m just saying what my opinion is. I don’t think the people of this country would stand for it.” Trump reiterated that he did nothing wrong, adding that an indictment would not bar him from running in the 2024 race, per the Hill. His comments on potential trouble echo those of ally Lindsey Graham, who recently warned of “riots in the streets” should the former president be indicted. The Trump interview came on the same day senators were briefed on the increase in threats to federal law enforcement officials since the Mar-a-Lago search, notes Politico.

Democratic judiciary panel chair Dick Durbin called the number of threats “stunning” afterward and criticized Trump for contributing to the problem. “Inviting a mob to return to the streets is exactly what happened here on Jan. 6, 2021,” said Durbin. “His careless, inflammatory rhetoric has its consequences.” But GOP Sen. Rick Scott said after the briefing that it demonstrated the need for more transparency about the reasons for the Mar-a-Lago search. “You have to give people good information so these rumors don’t continue,” he said. “I don’t know why they raided the former president’s house. … They know the conspiracy theories that are out there. So convince people that they’re not true.”

The big question these days is will he be indicted and will he be confined?

America’s democracy crisis will not end anytime soon. Donald Trump and his acolytes in the Republican-fascist party continue to incite acts of right-wing violence, including terrorism, on a nationwide scale as part of their plan to end American democracy and replace it with authoritarianism and one-party rule.

The Big Lie continues to spread across the United States. A majority of Republicans now subscribe to the repeatedly disproven theory that the 2020 Election was somehow illegitimate, that Trump is the “real” president and Joe Biden is a pretender and usurper. “MAGA” is American neofascism; it has fully conquered the Republican Party.

Will Donald Trump eventually be prosecuted, convicted and then imprisoned for his apparent high crimes, which may include violating the Espionage Act? Attorney and author Kenneth Foard McCallion believes that the answer is probably no.

The news is filled with some overpaid accountant and condo collapse and some silliness from Congress….and yet this story was not important enough for the MSM to bother reporting….

This is a disturbing report of an active duty serviceman that was intent on committing violence against his fellow Americans….

An active-duty U.S. Marine came under federal investigation for allegedly plotting with at least two others to assassinate minorities, drug users, and employees of the Democratic National Committee with explosives, rocket launchers, and automatic rifles.

That’s according to a newly unsealed FBI search warrant affidavit obtained by The Daily Beast, which indicates USMC Private First Class Travis Owens and his partners in the unrealized murder plot were influenced by Timothy McVeigh, the former U.S. Army soldier behind the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that left 168 people dead and injured nearly 700. The document also states that one of the suspects had links to the Atomwaffen Division, a violent neo-Nazi group linked to at least five murders. A handful of active service members and veterans have been identified as being members of Atomwaffen, which calls for the armed overthrow of the U.S. government.

This is a scary report….but it should not come as a surprise…..

Law enforcement, the military, and politics in the United States have been infiltrated by white supremacists, who use it to recruit others and gain paramilitary training.

The claim, by a former neo-Nazi skinhead who now works as an anti-racist activist, is supported by internal reports on local policing by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the top domestic law enforcement agency in the US.

Membership in a white supremacist or neo-Nazi group won’t necessarily get a U.S. service member tossed out of the military, defense officials told a House subcommittee Tuesday.

The officials, including representatives of Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Army‘s Criminal Investigation Division, appeared to make a distinction between membership in an extremist organization and “active participation” in deciding on recruitment and retention.

The officials also told a hearing of the House Armed Services subcommittee on personnel that they had no reliable data on how many service members had been administratively discharged for espousing white supremacist ideology or how many potential recruits had been barred from enlisting.

America’s Extreme Domestic Terrorism

I seems that the incidents of domestic terrorism is getting worse by the week……apparently it is according to a newly released FBI report…..

Killings by American domestic extremists in 2019 were the worst in the nation in 24 years, according to a chilling new report released by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.

Of the 32 killings by extremists in five separate attacks in 2019 — the most lethal year for domestic extremist assaults since 1995 — 24 were committed by white supremacists, according to the report.

Gamification” — in which attackers seek to “score” a high “kill count” — “inspired” some of the assaults in 2019, and will likely continue to be a factor in future attacks, the report noted.

There were 57 deaths linked to domestic extremists from 2017 through 2019, with 47 of them racially motivated, according to the report.

“The greatest terrorism threat to the Homeland we face today is posed by lone offenders, often radicalized online, who look to attack soft targets with easily accessible weapons,” the report noted. “Many of these violent extremists are motivated and inspired by a mix of socio-political goals and personal grievances against their targets.”

This is a trend that I do not think will subside anytime soon…..if that is truly the case then why is there NOTHING we can do about them?

The term “militia” is inexact. It can conjure up a host of incongruous images, including units in the American Revolutionary War, the siege at Ruby Ridge, and mysterious groups converging since last spring to “protect” private property during Black Lives Matter protests. So when the intelligence community warns about “militia violent extremists,” what exactly does it mean?

When the media or government officials talk about militias, they’re talking about private armed paramilitary organizations that operate without government authority (so, not the U.S. National Guard). Hampton Stall, a researcher and militia expert at ACLED, uses three general descriptors to differentiate between militia and non-militia groups: strategy, structure and schedule. “Strategy” refers to a group’s political views around which members organize, while “structure” refers to a clearly defined hierarchy within the group, often including military ranks and a chain of command. “Schedule” refers to groups having regular, in-person events, including field-training exercises and recruitment. Plenty of groups have one or two of these elements, but the presence of all three is a sure sign of a militia, according to Stall.

Militias Pose A Serious Threat. So Why Is It So Hard To Stop Them?

As long as lies and misinformation feeds the idea of domestic terrorism this situation will not go away….or be solved.

All this threat of violence from the Far Right has a lot of us Americans worried about the possibility that these idiots will actually start a wave of violence. I mean they have threatened many government officials and even had there plans to kidnap and possibly kill the governor of Michigan thwarted by law enforcement.

The more the calls get louder the closer we get to this type of violence……

The former Governor of Mexico’s “violence-wracked” state of Jalisco died early Friday morning after being shot in the back while in a restaurant bathroom, the Guardian reports. Authorities say that Aristóteles Sandoval, 46, was vacationing in Puerto Vallarta when he was gunned down, per the New York Times. No suspects had been identified as of Friday, but some security experts tell the Times that the killing could be the work of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Security analyst Eduardo Guerrero says the cartel has “complete dominion” over the resort city located on Mexico’s Pacific coast: “No other group has the reach of these guys to assassinate a former governor,” he adds. “They are a cartel of great audacity, that isn’t intimidated, that aims at the highest levels.”

Sandoval, who was at the restaurant with four others, went to use the bathroom about 1:40am and was shot, according to reports. His two bodyguards attempted to evacuate him, but were met by more gunmen outside, and a bodyguard was seriously injured when shooting began. Sandoval died soon after at a hospital. The attack was “not a fortuitous or circumstantial act,” Jalisco Attorney General Gerardo Solís said, per the BBC. “There was a synchronization of events to find the former governor in his most vulnerable moment.” Sandoval’s killing may indicate that cartels are becoming more involved in local politics, the Times notes. “There are still questions to be asked about how separate politics and organized crime really are,” says analyst Falko Ernst. “This unleashes the beast.” Guerrero tells the paper that Mexico is going to see “unprecedented levels of electoral political violence” in the coming months.

Is this what these idiots have in store if they finally get the way and grow some spine to act?

The Killings Of 2019

As the year come to an end we should look back at 2019 and the record setting year for mass shootings.

It all began just 19 days into the New Year….

The first one occurred 19 days into the new year when a man used an ax to kill four family members including his infant daughter. Five months later, 12 people were killed in a workplace shooting in Virginia. Twenty-two more died at a Walmart in El Paso in August.

A database compiled by The Associated Press, USA Today and Northeastern University shows that there were more mass killings in 2019 than any year dating back to at least the 1970s, punctuated by a chilling succession of deadly rampages during the summer.

In all, there were 41 mass killings, defined as when four or more people are killed excluding the perpetrator. Of those, 33 were mass shootings. More than 210 people were killed.

Sadly it is NO longer shocking…..even sadder is that these killings have become common place and in doing so has become a so-so event……even the MSM does not dwell on the shootings as it once did.

The new year and the new decade may prove to be yet another record setting time for our gun violence and mass killings.

Yes Irene the nation is having that discussion a gain…..that gun discussion.

There is always a wealth of answers to the problem of gun violence…..from all out gun control to background checks…..and everything in between with proponents for each type of solution.

Now I have seen one that show some thought and imagination…..and it comes out of San Jose…..

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo is today proposing a city ordinance that would require firearm owners to either carry liability insurance or pay a fee to cover public costs of gun violence to the city.

Why it matters: San Jose is reeling from the Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting last month that killed 2 children and 1 adult and injured a dozen more. The city, the 10th-largest in the U.S., is the first to propose this kind of “harm reduction” measure to curb gun violence.

How it works: If approved by the city council, the measure would require San Jose gun owners to have private liability insurance.

  • If such insurance is not available, or if an individual is not able to purchase coverage, firearm owners could pay a fee intended to help cover the costs to city police and emergency services related to gun violence.
  • That payment would need to be protected with strict privacy standards, possibly using blockchain technology, to comply with California’s state law that precludes local governments from establishing gun registries.

This will not prevent anyone from getting a gun or guns…..it will not hurt the NRA as a matter of fact they might make a comeback financially by selling this insurance….

I have no problem with this….I must have insurance to drive my car…..so why not my guns?

AS the year slowly comes to an end I would like to write about something that we seem to be suffering from but few want to admit it….domestic terrorism…..a subject that few are thinking about…..which does not make it go away.

Back in 2009 a report was released predicting the rise in right wing violence…..and since Obama was president the toads in Congress squashed the report…..and since it was the tools in the House then this responsibility for these attacks falls on the GOP in Congress…if they had listened then some of this crap could have been avoided……

Last year, a white-nationalist army veteran was charged with second-degree murder after he drove a car into a group of nonviolent protesters in Charlottesville, Va., killing one and injuring 19. Earlier this month, a far-right-wing army veteran shot and killed two people at a Tallahassee, Fla. yoga studio.

According to a new report posted Sunday by the Washington Post, the yoga studio victims were among at least 20 people who have been killed this year in the United States in suspected right-wing attacks (compared to “just one fatal attack in 2018 that may have been motivated by left-wing ideologies.”) This comes amid an “uptick in right-wing terrorism,” as the report puts it. The FBI has documented this phenomenon as an increase in hate crimes.

A Mass Shooting–Again!

Yes Irene we have had yet another mass shooting in less than a week…..I did not write about it as it was happening because I wanted to see the news reports…..BTW a mass shooting has 4 or more victims (so far there have been over 300 mass shootings in the US in 2018)…….

This time the shooting was in California…….

At least 13 people are dead after a gunman opened fire inside a crowded dance bar in Thousand Oaks, California, Wednesday night, says Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean, per the AP. The fatalities include one deputy; the gunman also is among the dead. A witness tells the Los Angeles Times that at least 30 shots were fired after a gunman entered the Borderline Bar & Grill, a country-themed bar that was holding a college night, around 11:20pm. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Garo Kuredjian told reporters that the gunman was still firing when police arrived at the bar.

Witnesses say the gunman fired shots from a handgun after entering the crowded bar, threw some smoke grenades, then started firing again. Witness John Hedge says he saw a security guard get shot. “The gunman was throwing smoke grenades all over the place,” he tells KABC. “I saw him point to the back of the cash register … and he just kept firing. I ran out the front door,” he says. The Los Angeles Times reports that friends of those who were inside the venue say the crowd included survivors of last year’s Las Vegas mass shooting. Okay we have had the traditional “thoughts and prayers”….all of which is a fart in the wind.

Of course I heard another mental midget say that if there were good guys with guns this would not have happened……to that traditional line I can call bullshit in the first order.

Why?  Like so many other shootings a policeman was shot and killed…..if a pro got killed I do not think a bunch of goddamn amateurs with guns were gonna make a difference other than killing more innocent people.

Yet another sad chapter in the book of violent deaths in the US….the ever expanding book.

This situation use to bring horror to the souls of Americans….now we shrug it off as just another event in the news….No Big Deal!

This is sad on so many levels….sad that we keep experiencing these types of attacks…..sad that the society just shrugs and moves on to the next “tragedy”…….and sad that our law makers are impotent to keep the population safe…..and sad that this nation cares not.

Like I said…..SAD!
