Does Body Count Really Need To Be Reported?

Recall the mass killings in Vegas recently?  How about those killed while at Sunday prayer?  Think back years ago to the killings of school children?

I bring all this up because I have bitched about the body count figures that the media is fixated on for I believe it will drive the next whako with a gun.

Body counts are high and the next guy may want to beat the current record…..I just do not see the need to emphasize the amount of deaths….

The day after the gun massacre at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, filmmaker Michael Moore—whose 2002 documentary “Bowling for Columbine” tackled that watershed mass shooting—took note of a particular fact. “As of yesterday,” he told his millions of Twitter followers, “Columbine is no longer one of the 10 worst mass shootings in US history.”

CNN had already published the full scorecard: “2 of the 5 deadliest mass shootings in modern US history happened in the last 35 days,” announced the headline. The CNN list of “the 10 deadliest single-day mass shootings in modern US history” was subdivided by tallies of the dead.

Another Horrific Shooting

Just last month we had a horrific shooting with multiple deaths and injuries in Las Vegas and while I was in the hospital I believe their were a couple other shootings with deaths and injuries.

There seem to be an epidemic of gun violence….an epidemic no one wants to confront……

Yesterday a man walked into a church in Texas and started shooting……

At least 20 people are dead after a gunman entered the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, Sunday morning and started firing, Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt tells CNN. Other reported estimates have gone as high as 27. Tackitt says the shooter has been killed and that there is no active threat. Authorities say many others were injured; KSAT‘s report puts the number of wounded at 30. Children are reportedly among the victims.

The San Antonio branch of the FBI says it currently has no indication of the gunman’s motive. The gunman entered the church around 11:30am local time; a witness reports hearing at least 20 shots fired while a church service was underway. The shooter fled in a vehicle; after a brief chase into a neighboring county, he was killed, CNN reports. It’s unclear if he shot himself or if he was killed by a police officer. Sutherland Springs, with a population of just under 400, is located about 30 miles east of San Antonio.

Of course the Tweeter-In-Chiet sent out a Tweet with condolences and prayers for the families and that he was monitoring the situation from Japan….how very sweet of him….but people prayers are comforting but in reality Go cannot fix this problem…..it is up to society.

This man shot and killed over twenty people but did you know that according to our president it is not a GUN problem?

President Trump says the mass shooting at a Texas church “isn’t a guns situation,” but is a “mental health problem at the highest level.” Devin Kelley, the man authorities have identified as the gunman, was discharged from the Air Force in 2014 for allegedly assaulting his spouse and a child, according to an Air Force spokeswoman. While no officials have publicly questioned Kelley’s mental health, Trump said that “is your problem here.” He offered no details. This was, “based on preliminary reports, a very deranged individual. A lot of problems over a long period of time,” Trump said when asked about the shooting as he and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a joint news conference in Tokyo Monday.

Authorities say after Kelley left the scene, he was confronted by an armed resident who engaged the suspect. Kelley was later found dead in his vehicle. Trump said “fortunately somebody else had a gun that was shooting in the opposite direction otherwise it (wouldn’t) have been as bad as it was. It would have been much worse.” He added: “But this is a mental health problem at the highest level. It’s a very, very sad event.” At the press conference, he ignored shouted questions about whether the US needs to consider tightening gun laws. At least 26 people died in the shooting, including several children.

Not GUN problem…the perp was confronted shot and killed….was it a GUN solution?  If so then it is a GUN problem in my book.

What Plot?

The news has been horrendous for awhile now with the bad storms the mass killings in Vegas…the only thing that has been missing from the news these days is those pricks in ISIS.

Well most readers know that I keep an eye on terrorism, international relations and conflicts…..just so my readers can to educated for the day…..

It is not news that they are fighting for their very lives in Iraq and Syria and Egypt and Yemen…in other parts of the world.

Have they given up on extending their horrendous attacks beyond the Middle East?

Hell NO!  A recent plot here in the US was stomped on……

An alleged plot to attack New York City—detonating bombs in Times Square and the subway system while shooting civilians at concert venues—in the summer of 2016 “in the name of ISIS” was stopped by the FBI, according to newly unsealed records. “Three men allegedly plotted to conduct bombings and shootings in heavily populated areas of New York City during the Islamic holy month of Ramadhan,” ABC News quotes the Justice Department as saying in a statement. A 19-year-old Canadian citizen named Abdulrahman el Bahnasawy allegedly bought materials to make bombs only to send them to what turned out to be an undercover FBI agent, WABC reports. El Bahnasawy was arrested in May 2016 after traveling to the US and renting a cabin in New Jersey.

Also arrested over the past year were two alleged accomplices: 19-year-old Tahla Haroon and 37-year-old Russell Salic. Haroon, an American citizen living in Pakistan, allegedly planned to meet with bomb experts there before joining El Bahnasawy in the US, the New York Daily News reports. Haroon was arrested in Pakistan and is awaiting extradition. Salic was arrested in his native Philippines and is also awaiting extradition. He was allegedly providing financing for the plot. El Bahnasawy has pleaded guilty. He allegedly said he wanted to “create the next 9/11.”

ISIS may be forgotten these days…but they are far from GONE!

The Right’s Insane Blame Game

The latest terror attack in Dallas has been a horrific and a terrible incident.  My problem with the MSM is that they are desperately trying to blame the peaceful protests in Dallas as a condition of the attack.

First, it was an attack by an asshole with no affiliation to anyone with half a brain…..and second NO one is to blame for the attacks but the mental midget that committed the crime.

With that said I wish that would end the affair of a blame game….sadly it will not!

Some of the knuckle draggers on the right have started blaming anyone that is not in their camp for this attack….

Besides the gunman, that is.

Seriously?

Is this what American politics has come to?  Blame your political opponents for any violence just to try and gain the upper political hand?  Or maybe it is that the mentality of the public is in single digits and they will nod approvingly.

There is only one word to describe such accusations……PATHETIC!

Again some are quick to accuse others from the action of this sick son of a bitch.  There is only one person to blame for the deaths……the douche bag behind the gun.

Cleveland In The Cross Hairs

Soon….very soon….the entertainment of a lifetime will commence….the GOP convention in Cleveland…..lots of speculation on what will actually happen during this week long “love” fest……will someone step up and challenge the Donald?  (Not likely…cowards will do as they are told)……will there be demonstrations?  Is there a possibility of violence?

Recently some nut job went to a Trump thing with murder on his mind….he was stopped and carted off to the hoos-cow……he was a little pasty white dude from UK and of course he was mentally ill (if they are white they are always mentally ill)…….but the question still remains…is there a possibility of some sort of violence during the convention?

I am sure that the GOP is taking all precautions to limit the possibility of any violence, right?

As Cleveland gears up to host one of the most controversial GOP conventions in decades, Ohio’s permissive gun policy isn’t the only red flag raised by prospective protesters and civil rights advocates. Many also warn that the regulations put in place by the city place “unacceptable restrictions on free speech” and risk escalating conflict, rather than diffusing it, by forcing rival groups of demonstrators to share tight quarters and schedules while keeping them out of sight and earshot of delegates and the media.

Okay who’s bright idea was it to let guns into the convention?  Maybe they will keep them off the floor of the convention….but would that stop the chances of violence elsewhere during the event?

Right-Wing Extremists Are a Bigger Threat to America Than ISIS

I am sure that this press will get the attention of anyone that is worried about ISIS and those dreadful people that they influence…..but just once read the article and comment on what the ARTICLE has to say…..

These are the people that wrap themselves in the Constitution to justify whatever it is they may be planning……the problem is most of them cannot speel the word much less understand what it says……

Can There Be Sanity In Gun Reform?

Attention Right Wing Trolls:  This post is for you……you are welcome!

Just gotta post my thought…..you see the trolls are waiting for the term “gun reform” to appear so they can start up the bullshit machine and attack.  So here it is….your chance awaits……..

The latest gun violence in Oregon has everyone running for the gun shop to spend money they do not have because they believe that someone has the power to take their guns or control how many they can have……that aside….the conversation is once again about some sort of reform that can help prevent some of the violence….please notice I said “some of the violence”……..

Of course the NRA has rolled out their campaigns that have been on a shelf since the last major killing spree…….we will be bombarded with the drama that is not real…….there is NO one wanting to take all your guns!  If you believe they are…then you are an ignorant TOOL!

Sorry people but there is some logical answers….just NO one will listen because they have the NRA in their ear filling that empty space in their heads with bullshit.

For instance…..the super long shot for the Democratic nomination is Martin O’Malley…..he presented a plan that is sound……

The plan requires all gun buyers to receive a “fingerprint-based license and complete safety training with a waiting period, in addition to passing a background check.” O’Malley’s campaign said he implemented a similar program in Maryland.

O’Malley calls for extending the same requirements to private sales by requiring all sales to be completed through licensed dealers.

He wants to ban anyone younger than 21 from purchasing guns and would set up federal safety standards for gun storage.

He would also oppose any attempt by Congress to impose a federal concealed carry law and would propose greater protections for women by closing the “boyfriend loophole,” ban guns for those subject to an emergency restraining order and “disarm those convicted of committing domestic violence.”

The plan further calls for establishment of a national firearms registry, a mandate that all lost or stolen firearms be reported to law enforcement and a ban on the sale and distribution of “assault weapons.”

A simplified version of the O’Malley plan for those that cannot read without moving their lips…….

My plan starts with expanding safeguards to all gun purchases, whether from a licensed dealer, online posting, or private sale. Under my plan, a background check would be required for each and every gun purchase. And every person seeking to purchase or transfer a gun would have to obtain a fingerprint-based license, including completing safety training and a waiting period. Without such protections, it will remain far too easy for criminals to legally buy guns.

My plan will also cut gun violence by focusing on the largest purchaser of firearms: our government. By adjusting federal procurement policies, the federal government can encourage both gun manufacturers and dealers to prevent trafficking and violence, while spurring innovations that improve gun safety. This means requiring agencies to purchase only cutting-edge guns, such as those that have hidden serial numbers that cannot be defaced.

I can hear most of the argument against this plan buzzing around my head…..and I know that this will be an unacceptable choice for most of the gun enthusiasts…..but to me it makes sense and does not impede my right to buy guns and own guns…..

Is it the answer to the problem of these no brain assholes that have to kill someone….no, not really…..but it is a plan that makes sense and protects people’s 2nd amendment rights……

It always amuses me that there are so many the take the 2nd word for word…….but the 1st is open to interpretation…..

All I can say to the trolls waiting in the wings…….CALM DOWN AND……BITE ME!

More News You Will Not Hear

I do enjoy finding news that is sadly overlooked and then post it and see where it goes…..and that is an exercise in futility.

You see people have made their minds up, something I would not expect from a society that prides itself on its free thought declaration, and NO amount of stats or news or anything will change that little mind…..once they get a thought then it is set in stone…..

But what the Hell….no one ever said that I was worried about anything I post…..so here it goes……

Despite what Donald Trump and many other politicians have told you, the major threat to America isn’t Muslim extremism. In fact, statistics show that the real danger lies with domestic extremists who aren’t of the Muslim faith.

The New York Timesreported back in June that since Sept. 11, 2001, almost twice as many people have died at the hands of white supremacists and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims. Using data compiled by New America, a Washington Research center, a study found that 48 people have been killed by extremists who are not Muslim—including the mass killings in Charleston, S.C.—compared to the 26 by self-proclaimed jihadists.  However, this does not factor in yesterday’s tragic shooting or less publicized incidents like the Las Vegas couple who murdered two police officers and left a Swastika on one of the bodies.

These stats reveal a vast difference between public perception and the number of actual cases in which Muslim extremists have claimed American lives. So why aren’t more people outraged about domestic terrorists? Because then we’d have to admit that white supremacy is still a problem.

While the public hasn’t quite caught on yet, scholars say that the issue needs to be addressed. “There’s an acceptance now of the idea that the threat from jihadi terrorism in the United States has been overblown,” Dr. John G. Horgan, who studies terrorism at the University of Massachusetts said. “And there’s a belief that the threat of right-wing, antigovernment violence has been underestimated.”

I know….none of this can be true for they are after all…..Muslims, right?

You will not hear stories like this one….why?  It does not feed the paradigm that the media wants……and that plays into the hands of lying scum.

The Paranoia Was For Naught

Think back to last month and the attack on the Navy reserve office……4 people died at scene and one died later…….I know a lot has happened since then but does anyone remember this incident?

About a week later a warning was issued that there were threats to other military installations and the military went on alert……the report said there was nothing specific but that chatter had been picked up and it was not good……….recall that?

At the time that the warning was issued I was suspicious of the timing of the warning…….a little too coincidental for my liking.  I recall that there was at least one person that thought I was a bit too cynical…..and I got a tongue lashing……

A news report has come out about the incident……..

MARIETTA, Ga — A National Guard soldier was arrested for filing a false report of a threat that took social media by storm and created fear among local military personnel.

Cobb County police said the threat to the lives of soldiers was a hoax.

Brett Downing, 23, of Cumming, filed the alleged report of a terroristic threat against American soldiers on July 21, 2015. Two weeks later he admitted he made it up.

Downing is an information technology specialist with the National Guard.

He claimed he found a note underneath his windshield wiper after he left work at a private company in Marietta. He told police he believed he was targeted in the parking lot of the business because his car has Army Reservist plates.

The type-written note said this:

dear american soldier,

death to you coward women child killer and all of the american military. mohammed will show no mercy on you

attacks will come full force

death is to come to you

According to an arrest warrant obtained by 11 Alive News, Downing was re-interviewed on August 4th. According to the warrant “during the interview he admitted to manufacturing the letter/note and falsely reporting a crime.”

Yep…….a HOAX!

It is stupidity like this that keeps Americans lathered up and spouting crap they have NO idea about……….so I will utter the three most beautiful words in the English language……..TOLD YOU SO!

Mass Shootings

Just a little something to think about on this Monday morning…….

Since about 1990 NRA has had a full court press to save our “gun rights”…….and the enablers at the GOP have been pushing more and more “gun rights”….you know kinda like open carry, easier acquisition, shoot first laws. etc etc……..

In case you were wondering….how have the mass shootings fair during this full court press by NRA………now with the most recent mass shooting in Louisiana got me asking a question…..is it just me or are these incidents become commonplace?

Does anyone else think that these shootings are occurring way to often?

It’s the worst kind of synchronicity: A website that tracks mass shootings in the US had logged 203 through Wednesday. It hasn’t caught up with last night’s rampage in a Louisiana theater, but when it does, that will be No. 204—and yesterday was the 204th day of the year, notes the Washington Post. The Mass Shooting Tracker is a crowd-sourced tool from an anti-gun forum at Reddit called Guns Are Cool, and it defines “mass shooting” as incident in which at least four people were shot. Not all of the incidents resulted in deaths.

A post at Quartz digs in a little deeper to the numbers and finds that 40 of 50 states have had at least one such mass shooting this year, with New York (16), California (14), Florida (14), Texas (12), and Georgia (12) at the top of the list. In its coverage, the Post quotes a barb from the Economist, written after the Charleston church massacre, that has been in wide circulation of late: “Those who live in America, or visit it, might do best to regard [mass shootings] the way one regards air pollution in China: an endemic local health hazard which, for deep-rooted cultural, social, economic and political reasons, the country is incapable of addressing. This may, however, be a bit unfair. China seems to be making progress on pollution.”

Sad that a great society has come to this!
