Prepare For War

I recently read an article that says the Brits have been warned to prepare for all out war in four years….

I post this for I want any of my UK readers to confirm that they have seen this prediction….

The British public should be prepared for “widespread war in Europe” within the next three to four years, military experts have said.

Russia’s increasingly audacious incursions into Eastern Europe risk spilling over into an all-out “hot” conflict that engages Nato, while Vladimir Putin’s current “grey war” activity of sabotage, cyber attacks and disinformation is expected to be “on steroids” before the end of the decade.

The chairman of the UK’s National Preparedness Commission, Lord Harris, told The i Paper that Britain needed to be better prepared, both militarily and across society, for a widespread conflict of this nature happening in the next few years.

This includes stockpiling emergency supplies to be used in the event of a war or major attack on critical national infrastructure, such as water, electricity or transport networks.

Harris, a Labour peer, said Britons needed to prepare for their lives “being changed or likely to be changed in the foreseeable future”, including having 72 hours worth of provisions if there was a major attack on infrastructure or a power cut caused by a hostile state

He suggested that the Government should make its “Prepare” website – which offers advice on readiness for emergencies such as floods and power cuts – more “in your face” and run regular ad campaigns on radio, TV and social media, as well as lessons for schoolchildren.

Please let me know if you have seen this or have more information than is presented in the article.

Do you believe the prediction?  If so why?

If true then it should have wide ranging implications across the globe.

  1. I read this, and it was also reported on the BBC News. The alternative view is that is is scaremongering to attempt to introduce conscription, and justify a big increase in spending on arms. We have such a small military now, it is accepted that we could do next to nothing on our own. So there is talk of a new ‘EURO alliance’ to compensate for Trump not helping in the event of armed conflict with Russia. NATO is no longer to be relied upon since Trump decided that Putin is his new best friend.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. I’d be far more worried about the increased incidence of extreme weather events and flooding in the UK than some military conflict at this point in time. It seems I’m seeing stories about widespread flooding and storms generating winds in excess of 70 MPH in the UK almost every week it seems.

considering how messed up England’s basic infrastructure (electrical, water, sewage, etc. Thames Water fiasco comes to mind but there are others) seems to be, combined with reports of local councils going bankrupt almost every few months, I’d be far more worried about that.

Of course in the US we aren’t much better. Here in Wisconsin half the water wells in the state. in some areas almost all of them, are contaminated with PFAS or nitrates. the electrical grid is crumbling because maintaining it properly would cut into the utility companies profits, etc. etc. etc.

      1. I have, for a very long time now, been saying that i fear the day will come when Russian soldiers will be marching, side by side, with our own troops as the troop incursions into our cities expand and become solidly entrenched and all this will be as a result of a new and binding agreement between Putin and Washington.

  3. Anything is possible of course, but considering that Russia has used so much of its military might to take over such a small portion of Ukraine doesn’t suggest they have the ability to do more – except with the help of the US, as Trump has shown his allegiance to Putin far more than to the allies we have betrayed.

    1. John that is what I have been saying for a couple of years….Putin just does not have it in him to do anything beyond Ukraine…..chuq
