If you are unfortunate enough to go to the market and buy beef for the Sunday BBQ then you have been shaking your head at the prices for your choice.
Something needs to be done.
Enter our clueless leader with another of his vague promises to do something to help the peasants he represents….
President Donald Trump said Sunday that the United States could purchase Argentinian beef in an attempt to bring down prices for American consumers.
“We would buy some beef from Argentina,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One during a flight from Florida to Washington. “If we do that, that will bring our beef prices down.”
Trump promised earlier this week to address the issue as part of his efforts to keep inflation in check.

Not much more to report right now….it is just an idea floated by the person that floats more crap than action.
This is an idea that needs further research….is it a good idea?
That will depend on how this deal is played out.
How will this deal work?
Will the government sell the beef to the industry at a lower rate?
How will it get into the food chain?
How will that bring down prices if it is turned over to the beef industry?
How will the government make sure that prices are brought down?
There are so many questions and few answers….
I will try to keep on top of this ‘deal’ to see if more information is forthcoming.

Isn’t that something? I just bought a whole boneless pork tenderloin for $1.92/lb. Beef tenderloin is going for about $18/lb.
It is but it is rising in price as well….how long before that comes to a head. chuq
For someone who claims to be a successful businessman, he doesn’t have an eff-wording clue as to how markets actually work, does he? Buy beef from Argentina? Seriously? China is buying up every bit of beef it can get its hands on from Argentina and Australia to make up for all of the meat that they won’t buy from us anymore because of Trumps epic increase in taxes on the American public. Basically Argentina doesn’t have any beef to sell us. At least not at competitive prices. Same thing is happening with soybeans and other commodities.
The US beef herd is currently at its lowest levels since about 1951. Think about that for a moment. There are less cattle out there being raised now than there was 74 years ago. And while some of the reason why is out of anyone’s control like widespread drought, the primary reason is decades of mismanagement by the government permitting the meat industry in the country to be taken over entirely by a handful of companies that effectively hold a complete monopoly on the production, processing and distribution of meat in the US.
No, I’m going to stop now before I go off on a rant. The way the government has interfered with and mismanaged the entire food industry is something that always gets my blood pressure up. I’m going to go find a cat and pet her until I feel better.
That is the main problem….worthless mismanagement of the sector by the government….I asked a lot of questions and would like to see some MAGA dullards answer them….if they can chuq
Sounds more like he is getting an incentive to import beef from the far-right president who runs Argentina. Mutual back-scratching by the leaders of both countries. The American farmers who voted for Trump should be protesting.
