Beef Is Too Damn High!

If you are unfortunate enough to go to the market and buy beef for the Sunday BBQ then you have been shaking your head at the prices for your choice.

Something needs to be done.

Enter our clueless leader with another of his vague promises to do something to help the peasants he represents….

President Donald Trump said Sunday that the United States could purchase Argentinian beef in an attempt to bring down prices for American consumers.

“We would buy some beef from Argentina,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One during a flight from Florida to Washington. “If we do that, that will bring our beef prices down.”

Trump promised earlier this week to address the issue as part of his efforts to keep inflation in check.

Not much more to report right now….it is just an idea floated by the person that floats more crap than action.

This is an idea that needs further research….is it a good idea?

That will depend on how this deal is played out.

How will this deal work?

Will the government sell the beef to the industry at a lower rate?

How will it get into the food chain?

How will that bring down prices if it is turned over to the beef industry?

How will the government make sure that prices are brought down?

There are so many questions and few answers….

I will try to keep on top of this ‘deal’ to see if more information is forthcoming.

Stay tuned.

Is This Our Fate Now?

+++Note:  If you want to comment at least read the whole thing links and all….there are a few that make comments that really have nothing to do with what was written….I realize that we live in an age of closed minds…..but please let a little light in.+++

For seven months we have been traveling a path that looks like ‘political dictatorship’….and it just keeps getting worse.

Just in words alone…..take a look at Donny’s….

Donald Trump has always admired tyrants a lot more than democratically elected leaders who are restrained by pesky obstacles like parliaments and laws, and it is quite clear that he would rather be a Führer, Duce, or Generalissimo (especially because he thinks of himself as a “war hero”) than a mere president. Therefore, it must be maddening for him that most Americans refuse to recognize him as a dictator, no matter how hard he tries. For the past few days, Trump worked overtime to convince them that he is, indeed, a president-in-name-only (PINO™).

Let’s take a look at just some of the things he said and did.

On Sunday alone, he said that the licenses of NBC and ABC should be revoked because they are being mean to him, threatened to withhold critical infrastructure funding for a state whose governor criticized him, and suggested he may sic his Department of “Justice” (DO“J”) on a former governor who, you guessed it, panned him on TV.

That comes on top of armed troops patrolling the street of the nation’s capital (with military takeovers of other “blue” cities planned), the raid of the home of his former national security adviser who possibly criticized Trump (you may detect a theme here), and his vow to take “harsh measures” if Colorado did not free an election-denying Trump supporter convicted for her role in trying to breach voting equipment.

What More Does Trump Have to Do to Prove He Wants to Be a Dictator?

Is there a new movement afoot?

“Presidential Dictatorship”……

“A lot of people are saying that maybe we’d like to have a dictator.”

So spoke Donald Trump on Monday, during another one of his rambling Oval Office press conferences.

It may be time to invent a new terminology that describes the amazingly rapid political transformation now underway in the United States.

Seven months ago, America was a functioning democracy. Today, it is governed by a much-despised bully who has no respect for the rule of law and feels emboldened to do anything he wants.

Donald Trump, on an almost daily basis, launches policies and executive orders that violate the law, the Constitution, and turn upside down the norms and practices of American democracy.

Until a few months ago, my principal fear was that Trump would transform America into an illiberal democracy, in the style of Hungary’s Viktor Orbán. He would weaken the Justice Department, the FBI, and the courts, and then use the Supreme Court to do his bidding. This he has done. But Trump has exceeded every limit, crossed every red line, and is now pushing America away from democracy altogether. He has arrested judges who disagreed with him, intimidated and humiliated America’s leading corporate leaders, from Mark Zuckerberg to Tim Cook, and may well have had a hand in pressuring Paramount to cancel The Late Show simply because he disliked the biting satire of Stephen Colbert. He sent the FBI to raid the home of John Bolton, his own former national security adviser, soon after Bolton dared to say on CNN that the victor in the Alaska summit had been Vladimir Putin, and that Trump was incompetent.

Why America Risks Becoming a ‘Presidential Dictatorship’

For those interested (sorry had to pause….like anyone gives a shit about what all this means)….there was a bit of a mash-up in 1`788 in the Federalist Papers #70-77….

https://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed70.asp

Federalist 70 Alexander Hamilton and the Executive Branch:

  • Most referenced federalist paper concerning the presidency
  • Hamilton argued for “energy in the executive”
  • This energy is the justification for expansion of president’s powers
  • Power of president meant to provide energy, secrecy and dispatch seen in monarchs
  • Government is meant to provide for the common or public good
  • President must be able to protect against foreign attack, administer the laws, and protect property, and secure liberty (thus why he must be energetic)
  • President must protect liberty against factions, anarchy, and greed
  • Example of Roman consuls with power to be dictator in emergency
  • One executive is preferable; more than one will encourage conflict and dissention, the president needs to be able to act quickly and factions are bad here (but they are okay in Congress as seen in Federalist 10)
  • Once Congress passes laws, arguments are over and execution of laws need to be swift
  • Single executive makes fault easier to establish and hold responsible
  • Multiple executives would require a huge expense
  • New York had a single executive and it worked well

Do not know why I bother but I guess I hope someone will actually care.

“Hate America” Tour

That is what the MAGA morons billed the recent No Kings protests were all about…..if you think that many people across this nation ‘hate America’ then you are as ignorant as the moron you worship.

Enough of my commentary on the faux hate…..a quick rundown….

Demonstrators opposed to President Trump’s actions gathered across the country on Saturday to demand change—in spots including New York City; Birmingham, Alabama; and Bozeman, Montana. They carried protest signs and American flags at the rallies that built off the 2,000 or so “No Kings” demonstrations in June. About 600 more rallies were scheduled this time, the New York Times reports, with most of the added sites in rural areas. An organizer said demonstrators are especially driven by Trump’s recent moves, including sending federal troops to US cities, ordering immigration raids, and prosecuting political opponents. “We are seeing a difference in the understanding of the general public, that this is a marathon,” said Hunter Dunn of the group 50501. Rallies were held in:

  • Washington, DC: “I’m pro-American. I’m pro-Constitution. I’m pro-law and order. I’m pro-immigration, legal immigration. I’m pro-First Amendment rights. I’m pro-free expression. All of that is under assault,” Robin Brown, 66, told NBC News. A former federal worker dressed like a crying Statue of Liberty said several of her friends were too scared to attend. “They’re afraid of persecution. They’re seeing these images on television of what ICE are doing around our country, that there’s this militarization that’s happening in our states,” Tara Reel said, adding, “They’re afraid for their freedom.”
  • Birmingham: “It just feels like we’re living in an America that I don’t recognize,” said Jessica Yother. The rally evoked the city’s history of civil rights protests, and demonstrators said they were heartened by uniting in a state that Trump overwhelmingly won last November, per the AP. “I walked in and thought, ‘Here are my people,'” Yother said.
  • Los Angeles: “We’re here to fight fascism, and we’re not afraid. This is our city and our country,” said 25-year-old Jess Sanchez, 25, whose family members have been targeted in immigration raids, per the Los Angeles Times. In Grant Park, a band played a parody of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” with lyrics about the Epstein files.
  • Austin: “I was motivated by my mom and my grandmother,” said Makayla Beadle, who attended the rally with both of them. “They have been fighting for these values since before I was born and I hope to be able to make the difference that they made in their lifetimes.”
  • Chicago: “I’m angry—what’s happening to my neighbors, my husband is second-generation Latinx,” said Andy Thayer, who was distributing signs reading “ICE Out!” Thayer added: “If you don’t think it’ll affect you, but at some point or another, they will get around you. They are arresting citizens.” Melissa Haub responded to GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson’s accusation that the rallies are anti-American, per the Washington Post. “I think this is literally the most American thing you can do,” she said.
  • Oklahoma City: “I was willing to die and lost a leg in a foreign country fighting for their rights,” said Army veteran Brian Wofford, who was wounded while serving in Iraq. He wore his green service coat emblazoned with the honors he earned, per USA Today. “There’s no way I’m bending the only knee I have left for a king here in America. I can’t sit idly by while rights are trampled on and ignored, and people are pushed and treated like second-class citizens,” he said.

My city was the only city to have a protest so I went to see the outcome…let me say not one of them hated this country and most would not know Hamas from a gyro……200-250 participants which is pretty good considering this is the heart of the retired Boomers that make up the support for Donny.

Some of the more risque posters from the demonstrations…..https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-shadiest-displays-from-anti-donald-trump-no-kings-protests/

Then there was the classless video that was shared by an infantile d/bag of a leader….

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, the president shared a video featuring an AI-generated Trump donning a crown and getting into a fighter jet with “King Trump” written on the side.

AI Trump is then seen flying around and dropping what appears to be either mud or excrement onto massive crowds of No Kings protesters below.

Trump also shared another AI-generated video of himself donning a crown and sword as Hail to the King plays, with Democrats, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, seen bowing to him.

Basically he is proudly shitting on protester….but why not….it has been shitting on the whole country for 9 months.
