Now the cop that shot this slag is going public to answer to all the crap spread by Right wing news….

Now that he has been officially cleared by the Capitol Police, the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot wants the public to hear his side of the story. The officer, who has been denounced by Trump supporters and the former president himself, will reveal his identity in an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt at 6pm Eastern on Thursday, reports CNBC. “The officer will share his perspective on the events of that day, including the aftermath of the deadly insurrection and the threats he has received,” NBC said. He will also discuss his exoneration by the Capitol force’s internal review.

The officer—who shot the 35-year-old Babbitt as she tried to climb through a broken part of a door to an area leading to the House chamber—was also cleared of wrongdoing by federal prosecutors. In a Fox interview last month, Trump described Babbitt as an “innocent, wonderful, incredible woman.” He also described the events of Jan. 6, in which around 150 officers were injured, as “a lovefest between the Capitol Police and the people who walked down to the Capitol” and claimed to have heard that the officer was part of a high-ranking Democrat’s security detail, per Vox.

The officer’s lawyer, Mark Schamel, said Monday that exonerating the officer was “the only correct conclusion.” “The bravery shown by the Lieutenant in organizing and coordinating the defense of the House and its members and staff was nothing short of heroic,” Schamel said in a statement, per NBC. “The Lieutenant’s conduct saved lives and helped to end the violent insurrection.” He also said his client had been forced from his home by “many credible death threats.”

Personally I think this person, the cop, has done nothing wrong in the execution of his mandate.

On a side note….would things have been different if the insurrectionists had been black/brown?

New Biden Covid Response

Yet another press conference and speech about Covid from the president…..

The details of an aggressive new push by the White House on COVID are emerging, with new rules affecting federal employees, larger businesses, and health care workers.

  • Federal workers: Biden will sign an executive order requiring all of the estimated 2.1 million federal employees to get their shots, reports CNN. The rule also applies to the millions of contractors who work with the government. The only exceptions will be for those with disabilities or who decline for religious reasons.
  • Health workers: The White House also will require that all staff at health facilities that receive federal funding be vaccinated, reports Politico. That would include hospitals that receive Medicare or Medicaid funding. In all, the White House estimates this rule will affect 50,000 facilities.
  • Larger businesses: All businesses with more than 100 employees will have to require vaccinations or weekly tests of their workers, reports the Washington Post. This policy would affect an estimated 80 million workers, or two-thirds of the nation’s workforce.
  • Big change: No longer will federal employees be able to skip the shot by agreeing to get tested regularly. Over the summer, the White House required vaccinations or testing. That substitute is no longer an option, at least for federal employees, notes the Wall Street Journal.
  • A deadline: Federal workers will have about 75 days to get vaccinated. If they don’t, disciplinary procedures get rolling that could result in the employee being fired.
  • A model: “The expectation is if you want to work in the federal government or want to be a contractor, you need to be vaccinated,” said press secretary Jen Psaki. “We would like to be a model to what we think other businesses and organizations should do around the country.”

Like I said….yet another plan…..but will it start a new rush to be vaccinated?

I do not believe so…if anything it may make the divisions in society even more pronounced….

I give Biden an “A” for effort….but that is the best I can do right now.

I hope the American prove me wrong….but I am not holding my breath.

OMG! It’s An Abortion Ban!

That is the same response that Dems have held for decades.

I have held off writing about the big story on the new abortion law that was signed by that mentally deranged group in Texas to see what the response of the Dems would be…..and now I have my answer.

First let me say…..the media and Dems need to stop using the term ‘pro-life’….that is a lie….instead they need to start using the term ‘anti-choice’.

Now to the grits and gravy.

The Dems are doing what they do best…..react.

So you think the Dems are doing what they can to prevent this law from effecting women?

Since 1980 when Reagan slithered into the White House the Dems have had NO idea how to go on the attack….instead they wait for the Repubs to attack and then they react….and that is why they have little answers to this new assault on reproductive rights.

The Dems counterattacked with the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021….all but the cowards like Casey and Manchin who are the bane of getting anything done in the Congress for they are ‘moderates’….that means they are more worried about votes than the health of women….like I said before ‘spineless’.

Personally I think this effort by the Dems will fall away as it has for many years…..they will defer to the Supreme Court and now that it is stacked with ideologues I fear that these bans may hold.

At what point will the Dems learn to attack first and let the Repubs scramble for an answer?

That point is to elect true progressives and not mealy mouth moderates that hamper any progress on this issue and others.

Until then you just have to live with the gutless attempts put forward by the Dems.

As of writing this post the announcement came out that the AG will proceed with a lawsuit…..

The Justice Department is suing Texas over its new state law prohibiting most abortions, arguing that it was enacted “in open defiance of the Constitution.” The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court in Texas, asks a federal judge to declare that the law is invalid, “to enjoin its enforcement, and to protect the rights that Texas has violated,” the AP reports. The Texas law prohibits abortions once medical professionals can detect cardiac activity—usually around six weeks, often before a woman knows she’s pregnant. Courts have blocked other states from imposing similar restrictions, but Texas’ law differs significantly because it leaves enforcement to private citizens through civil lawsuits instead of criminal prosecutors.

I await the SCOTUS response when it makes it that far.
