Closing Thought–19Aug21

I have never been one that puts much sanity to most conspiracy theories and those that push them…..and I have never seen the national necessity for a group like QAnon……but then I have retained my ability to rationally look at such insanity and find my own answer to complex questions.

And speaking of QAnon I read a story that is just disturbing how much ignorance there is out there….

A believer in the QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories killed his two young children, believing they had “serpent DNA,” according to federal authorities. Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, owner of the Lovewater Surf School in Santa Barbara, Calif., was detained by border agents—who allegedly found blood in his vehicle—while trying to return to the US from Mexico on Monday, hours after he allegedly killed his 2-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter, per NBC News. A farmworker at a ranch near Rosarito in Baja California had found the children’s bodies Monday morning, according to Baja California’s attorney general Hiram Sanchez. He said the boy had been stabbed 17 times, and the girl stabbed 12 times, per the Ventura County Star. Authorities said video footage showed Coleman leaving a Rosarito hotel with the children before dawn, then returning alone.

The three had checked in on Saturday. That same day, Coleman’s wife contacted police, saying her husband had left without a car seat and without telling her where he was going. But she said she didn’t fear for the children, per the AP. A criminal complaint from the Justice Department claims Coleman confessed to killing them by “shooting a spear fishing gun into their chests.” The 2-year-old didn’t die right away so he had to “move the spear around,” Coleman allegedly said, per KABC. A bloody wooden stake was also found. Coleman allegedly claimed “he was enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions” revealing his wife “possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children.” He allegedly said he had to kill the children to save the world from the “monsters.” He was charged with foreign murder of US nationals on Wednesday.

Killed children because he is a moron….

And this guy is NOT alone….there are more out there….probably more than I can imagine.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The big issue these days is that of voting rights and the assault from the Right….and corporations are weighing in……of as an opinionated SOB I had something to say about their ‘two cents worth’……https://lobotero.com/2021/07/20/but-they-signed-the-letter/

As I said then….this is a PR stunt nothing more.

Theses corporations have been funding all those that are assailing voting rights for decades…so why now?

Well one answer could be that they have become socially responsible……to that fanciful description I say…BOLLOCKS!

Across various segments of American life, the private sector has begun to take on tasks big and small that one might think should be tackled by the public sector. Domino’s filled in potholes. Dawn’s dish soap saved ducks. American Express pitched in on historic preservation. Walmart started selling low-priced insulin. A slew of companies help workers pay for school. Much of America’s health care system is still handled through private insurers and your job. As people lose faith in government to act on sweeping issues such as climate change and guns, they’re increasingly looking to corporate America and asking whether there’s something they can do about it. If Congress won’t tackle gun violence, maybe Dick’s Sporting Goods can try.

It’s not a bad thing for brands and companies to try to make the world better. Starting a business often involves identifying a problem to solve, and it’s much better for companies to help than to do harm. Corporate social responsibility is fine. There are, however, limits.

“Of course we want businesses to be responsible,” said Suzanne Kahn, managing director of research and policy at the Roosevelt Institute. But she emphasized that this does not constitute a plan for how to organize society. “Private companies don’t, can’t, or won’t plan with the same values that we demand and expect the government to.”

Companies have a profit motive and are ultimately accountable to shareholders. Doing what’s lucrative often doesn’t align with what’s best for most people, and when they do nice things, it’s often because they know it will play well with consumers and workers. Domino’s helped fill some potholes because it was good advertising for pizza pickup customers, not because it’s overly concerned about the future of America’s bridges and roads. The issue is, the entity that should be driving the bus on America’s bridges is kind of asleep at the wheel.

All this ‘social responsibility’ is nothing more than trying to cash-in on public focus…..it is PR plain and simple……to believe they have found their social consciousness is just plain silly and very goddamn naive.

Motivations are never about the health of the nation but rather the greed that drives all their decisions.

Social responsibility my ass!

The False Narrative

Afghanistan the jewel of the US War in Terrorism has fallen on its face with a horrendous splat.

The media is taking the chaos to heart and reporting every hint of bad behavior by the Taleban.

I will agree that it is a disaster but one of our own making….

The major story should be the money spent in Afghanistan, the billions upon billions and the country could not last 10 days.  That was cash that could have been used to feed our hungry, clothe our poor….give shelter where needed….but instead we spent it on luxury apartments for corrupt officials, soldiers that did not exist, etc

Explain why the Pentagon gets every dime they want and the best it bought was an army that cut and run and a president that scrammed with $169 million in cash in bags.

Explain why the Congress was so willing to throw money at a hopeless cause.

Explain why the generals and planners got it so damn wrong.

Now the Congress wants answers…..

Democratic lawmakers have largely avoided directly criticizing President Biden’s administration over events in Afghanistan—but they still have a lot of questions about how the Taliban were able to seize control with stunning speed, leading to a chaotic evacuation from Kabul’s airport. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner says the committee will hold hearings on why the US wasn’t more prepared for a “worst-case scenario,” CBS reports. Sen. Bob Menendez, chair of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, says the committee will investigate both the Trump administration’s negotiations with the Taliban and the Biden administration’s withdrawal plan. “We are now witnessing the horrifying result of many years of policy and intelligence failures,” the Democrat said Tuesday, per Reuters.

House lawmakers also plan investigations. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Gregory Meek says he has asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to testify as soon as possible about the administration’s Afghan policy. He says Congress needs to know more about plans to evacuate Americans, vulnerable Afghans, “and to understand our broader counterterrorism strategy in South Asia following the collapse of the Ghani government.” In an interview with KPIX Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised Biden for his “decisive” action but acknowledged that the situation is in “disarray.” She told the station that the “highest level” administration officials would be at a hearing early next week. “That is Congress’ role, the role of oversight,” she said

Really?  After decades of inspector general reports that were never glowing and these tools want to waste time and resources to find the ‘answers’….

What good are answers without solutions?

Yes the chaos in Afghanistan is troubling but how different is it from any of our other recent wars…..and yet our leaders have no answers or solution to keep this from happening over and over.

Maybe the first place to look is the unbridled funds that are thrown at the Pentagon with no oversight or adequate solutions.

One last thing….stop thing the word ‘democracy’ around like it is the answer to all problems…..we have proven that it is not the answer for all occasions…..and stop the influence of an industry that sole purpose is profit not democracy.

This chaos would not need the endless reporting if we would stop all the adventurism that creates the problems.

You want answers then look no further than the Pentagon…the agent of the M-IC.

Not to worry there will be a wealth of lame ass excuses with NO viable answers….the Pentagon is going into CYA mode for the chaos that they gave birth to in the past.

The truth is that they, the Pentagon, pissed away cash with NO oversight…..and that is the fault of the White House and the Congress….and that is where the blame should fall squarely on their shoulders….but it will not.

Time for a serious re-think of our foreign policy and a serious cut in their ability to create these scenarios year after year.

What better way to change the dialogue than tying this monumental screw up to the Covid virus….
