Walking The Dog!

Nope not that hit from the 1960s by Rufus Thomas…..I am talking about my daily exercise when MoMo and I go for our stroll in the early morning hours.

A Spanish study has shown that dog walks and home deliveries are high in the chances of infection…..

The study, published in the Environmental Research journal, by the University of Granada and the Andalusian School of Public Health looked at the main risk factors of coronavirus transmission during the first national lockdown in Spain.

Dog walking was said to have increased the risk of getting Covid-19 by 78% during the period studied, March to May.

Supermarket home deliveries increased the risk by 94%, according to the research.

And the risk if someone else in a person’s household tested positive for the coronavirus was 60 times higher, the study found.

Screw that!

My buddy needs her walk….and we go really early and seldom see anyone……and that is why we do it so we do not have to deal with others.

I can see why this could be a dangerous time…..and then there is home deliveries…..I do not use…..for I know how to cook and do not like the idea of too many handling my food.

But that is just me.

Any thoughts?

Finally a stroll down memory lane…..

A final thought about pets……this time it is the perfect Christmas Card…..not just any pet but those pets of the Presidents…

A New Food Fad

These days the so-called “Foodies” are ruining the dining experience by all their stupidity.

I mean they, the “foodies, have forced me to deal with eating a garnish called kale…..they turn everything into a “shake” because they are too damn lazy to chew…..and they order their food on-line because the art of cooking is too confusing.

I was wondering just what stupidity these twats could come up with next.

I did not have wait long……

If you’re feeling a bit peckish, why not have a nibble on meat grown from your own body? Scientists and designers from the US have created a ‘grow-your-own’ steak kit, which uses human cells and blood to pose a question to the cultured meat industry. The Ouroboros Steak, named after the ancient Egyptian snake that eats itself, can be grown from cells scraped from the inside of your cheek and fed serum from old donated blood. While the steak is currently just a prototype, and designed as a thought-provoking piece of art, it is a real piece of meat grown from human cells.

Currently on show at the Beazley Designs of the Year exhibition, the human morsels are supposed to highlight the lab-grown meat industry’s reliance on fetal bovine serum (FBS), a protein-rich growth liquid for cell cultures. FBS is derived from the blood of calf fetuses, often when their pregnant mothers are killed in the meat and dairy industries. This serum, which can cost up to £700 per litre, is often criticised on the grounds of supporting environmentally damaging industries.

Sounds like cannibalism to me….but let’s go to a dictionary…..cannibalism is defined as “the practice of eating the flesh of ones own species”

Still sounds like cannibalism to me….
Any thoughts?

Sunday Space Stuff

That time of the weekend again….the time when I focus attention on the space race…..a race to rape the universe.

China is about to re-make history….and bring Moon rocks back to Earth….

China is continuing to flex its space muscles. On Tuesday, it rolled a rocket into place that is scheduled to lift off for an ambitious mission to the moon early next week, reports the AP. The Long March-5 will carry the Chang’e 5, whose mission is to fetch rocks and other material from the moon—the first time humans will have done so in more than 40 years, per Nature. The mission calls for Chang’e 5’s moon lander component to dig about 7 feet down from the surface and bring up what it finds. It’s a complement to a 2019 mission in which China became the first nation to land a rover on the far side of the moon.

“To take it to the next level to return samples from the moon is a significant technological capability,” says planetary geologist Carolyn van der Bogert of the University of Münster, Germany. China also has a mission to Mars currently underway. Analysis of the soon-to-be-retrieved moon rocks could answer questions about the moon’s evolution and perhaps shed light on planets as well, per Nature. As for the earlier moon mission, China’s rover continues to send back photos, and Space.com has the latest ones

WE must be ready for “orbital warfare”…..so claims the leadership wants the world to believe……

Chief of Space Operations Gen. Jay Raymond’s new guidance document strikes a distinctly martial tone, focusing future investment on “orbital warfare” capabilities out to the Moon and beyond.

The guidance — which covers all aspects of Space Force development from command structure to new acquisition practices based on digital engineering, to “force design” and to training — is aimed at rapidly building the new service’s capability to handle the “shift from space as a benign domain to a warfighting domain,” Raymond told reporters today.

The guidance “aligns our priorities, activities and goals,” he said. “It’s a roadmap for the future, to compete and deter and win as outlined in the National Defense Strategy.”

Most people know that we now have another branch of military service…The Space Force…..and within this branch will be Space Marines…..

As if 2020 hasn’t brought us enough surprises, U.S. Space Command announced on Friday that the U.S. military can now count Space Marines among its ranks … or something along those lines.

According to a press release, the Marine Corps Commandant Gen. David Berger ordered the activation of the Marine Corps Forces Space Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., effective Oct. 1, 2020.

The new command “will focus on providing space operational support to the Fleet Marine Force,” the press release said. It will be led by Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Matthew G. Glavy.

I often say the our new Space Force sounds more like an invasion and occupation force than a self-defense force…..
