  1. Homosexuality was illegal in the days of the colonies before the Revolutionary War. But it was mainly prosecuted by the Church, and Elders. So as your question concerns ‘America’, I will go for some time before the Constitution, and guess 1780.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. This was not popular in 2007 and looks like the streak is still holding…….the laws ware…..
1830 Laws for the District of Columbia

U.S. House. Committee on the District of Columbia. Laws for the District of Columbia. Serial Set 200, H.rpt.269. 21st Congress, 1st session.

    Sodomy and buggery laws

During the 1600s, the American colonies adopted sodomy (or “buggery”) laws that prohibited bestiality as well as anal sex between either a man and a woman or between two men. (New Haven Colony was rare in including sexual acts between women as part of its sodomy prohibition.) Punishment–which included death–was draconian, but the laws were very rarely enforced. Historians know of less than ten executions for sodomy throughout the seventeenth century. Of those few, almost all involved assault or sex with animals.

I would like to thank Pete for his playing the game……I appreciate his continuing involvement. chuq
