The media and most of the Right wing keeps painting Bernie as some sort of radical……mainly because he is a ….wait for it…..socialist, a Democratic Socialist….the truth is he is NO radical.
Yes, I know what a radical is….I was doing the radical thing when most on social media was just a twinkle in the parent’s eye…..and Bernie is NO radical.

All Sanders has done is challenge the gospel of neoliberalism, which has systematically gutted our country’s public institutions. America’s economy has been steadily deregulated since the 1980s, when President Reagan first surrendered to the privatization scheme of neoliberalism. What we’re left with now, as Sanders pointed out in that speech, is a system “which during the 1990s allowed Wall Street to spend $5 billion in lobbying and campaign contributions to get deregulated. Then, ten years later, after the greed, recklessness, and illegal behavior of Wall Street led to their collapse, it is a system which provided trillions in government aid to bail them out.” In other words, we now have socialism for the rich and free market capitalism for everyone else. This is a perverse inversion of the historical norm, and Sanders is right to attack it.
Do I support Bernie? Over anything the slimy Right has to offer then yes…..over Clinton then the answer is again yes…..will I be voting for Bernie in November….not a chance.
I have written many times where I differ from Bernie and most of it in the foreign policy that he is embracing……his policies will do little to make this a more peaceful world….or a safer one……our international entanglement will only get deeper under a Sanders presidency.

Lady P is correct. What I just read above is further proof of what I’ve said from the beginning of this charade. It’s gone, ffolkes. There is no such thing as democracy, or a democratic republic, left in the world, for the American Dream died in the 60’s. The resulting mess we have now offers me, as an American voter, NO choices at all, for none of them are what I would consider true Americans, at all. Not even Bernie, for, lest anyone forget, before he was a politician, he was a billionaire, and NOBODY gets to be one of those, by being a ‘nice’ person. In fact, you can’t make that kind of money, at all, without losing one’s humanity to a great degree.
I say we all stop voting for idiots, or anyone else, and stop paying taxes. What, they’re going to arrest all 250 million of us? Fuck ’em, let’s start over. Continuing to engage in this farce only encourages them

Well, half the country already votes for nobody…and that’s done sweet fuck all, if not made matters much worse. Likewise, an increasing number of people don’t earn enough money to tax and an ever increasing number of The Riches & highly profitable corporations pay no/minuscule taxes.
Yet everything carries on as if nothing is happening. I think things are headed towards the “starting over” point all by themselves. (aka crawling out of the rubble to find nothing left)

I agree he is no radical AND I’m leery of some of his ideas and as you say foreign policy BUT I’m still voting for him as the best of the lot and I will VOTE. However I’m not paying my taxes and I’m getting into some real hot water over that. Not that I owe income tax, I don’t make enough and haven’t for years but I do owe self-employment tax and I haven’t filed for several years. It is catching up with me because I need a reverse mortgage but I’m already collecting my social security based on what I earned when I was employed and also making money when I was self-employed so “What me Worry?” dru

Well the Reverse M is exactly what I need. I have no heirs so who cares. The executor of my “estate” can let the mortgage co take over the home and they can deal with any liens against the house. The biggest trouble with these is it leaves your heirs to repay the mortgage or sell the home to repay, plus debts. When you don’t care what is left behind (Apres moi le deluge) then there are no worries mate. dru

Bernie is “radical” only in the nightmarish dystopia that is modern America. America is so detached from the civilized world, so detached from its own history, it thinks of it as “radical”. The reality is that America is the radical outlier; destroying itself and the world around it.
