After the last attack the world has once again gone off the deep end…..everybody, those with a soul, want an end to this reign of terror……the problem is that too many are seeking revenge and not actually looking at a way to curb this situation……we all can understand the anger and the desire to get even…..

We can defeat this cancer on humanity…..but it will take rational thought and not emotional reactions……but we must remember that a terrorist is only as strong as the fear he/she creates…..if so the media and some bloggers are making them stronger by the day.

No, actually, we cannot, but as long as we believe in that impossible outcome, we will continue to play into the hands of terrorists. There always has been and always will be terrorists. The appropriate response is to live our lives, enforce and reinforce our principles not just at home but around the world, and to offer the opportunity to see our way is better to those who are most susceptible to the ideas spewed by terrorists. We may be able to contain the cancer that way, but we will never, ever defeat it.
An absolute defeat then I agree it cannot be…..I am thinking more of a symptom defeat than an all out one. chuq

They want a few things including the following (some of which sounds pretty damn familiar, especially in the age of the Mass Shooter):
1) Attention. This is the era of the Attention Whore. Like every other Attention-Whore, their #1 priority in life is to get the love & attention they didn’t get from their mommy & daddy (or did & are trying to replace in adulthood) To them, Westerners shitting their pants every chance they get is like giving a teenage boy a sex-robot.
2) The chance to make their life remotely meaningful Life ain’t worth shit in general. But if you’re some young Arab dude living in a country ruled by an obscenely rich douche-bag prince, or a repressive military dictator, who refuses to share their power & wealth, or a country under the thumb of the American Empire…even a “middle class” life is worth less than the lint taken from my butt-crack.
Committing “revolutionary suicide” (See: Black Panthers, Sandernistas) is a great way to earn some “street cred” and/or go out like a man. Even if you have to believe in some completely delusional “Caliphate” fantasy. Sure, the Ottoman Empire had a great run. Arab culture was king-shit. But it was declining for centuries and died for good when Turkey replaced it after WW1. That’s something you just have to gobble down on, guys.
3) A chance to get laid. Seriously. Hardly ANY of these jihadists could get laid before. Even if it were allowed. Promises of “pussy” is a strong undercurrent to most terror group’s appeal. Even celibate, devote, Muslim girls get weak in the knees for
outlaw bikersjihadists….”42 virgins”…The ISIS whore brigade made up stupid Western girls trying to shock their parents. You join the cause (even a cause that condemns sex) and you’ll “get some”! You may also get some booze & drugs.Best yet, it’s unofficially sanctioned because you’re fighting for a “good cause”. Exceptions can always be made for that. Just like with murdering people who just happened to be there. (See: drones) Hypocrisy don’t mean shit when you’re on “God’s side”. Which, oddly enough, everyone thinks they are.
#3 is the most important….relives the stress of having to blow oneself up
The terrorists want compassion, understanding, better jobs, a better life style, government-subsidized housing and education, union jobs, free food stamps, a large-screen TV, smart phones, designer jeans and toilets that flush and use paper instead of bare left hands. Besides which if terrorism is their belief system then who are we or anybody to deny them the freedom to worship as they please?
Terrorism is not a “worship”…regardless of what the tools in the media want you to believe.
Hell, most of them would pass on Jihad if they just had a $15/hr minimum wage!
