Panama Papers

Note:  Sorry to say I am under the weather today……so I will be posting some of the drafts that I have saved….hopefully I will return to normal tomorrow.  chuq

The big story this week….that is if you are not one of those that sucks at the election tit……is the release of the so-called “Panama Papers”.

The MSM media makes sure that the world knows that someone close to Russia’s Putin is on the list and somehow don’t mention that so is the King of Saudi Arabia or a leader in the UAE or for that matter the PM of Ukraine…is that because these thieves are considered “allies” of the US?  How much of this cash is US taxpayers cash given as foreign aid?

The “Papers” have already cost the PM of Iceland his job….who will be next?

The “Panama Papers” are the largest leak in world history, revealing millions of documents related to the offshore accounts of politicians, former politicians, and billionaires around the world.

Despite much of the media’s focus on tax evasion as the primary theme of the Panama Papers story, which embarrassed governments are happy to adopt as the primary theme as well, the question is one of official corruption.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) itself, which first published the data, says it reveals the holdings of “drug dealers, Mafia members, corrupt politicians and tax evaders–and wrongdoing galore.”

  1. I think if “The Panama Papers” are legitimate, it is about time! Some of the weazles need to squeal and to have their gonads pinched a little more by increased transparency … forced transparency if necessary. Yes, I am glad about “The Panama Papers.”

    1. But it could jeopardize national security…other’s words not mine…..I agree and I do not hold any ill will toward any whistle blower…..that is transparency at its finest….

      1. We must wait and see. As the New York Times was not a part of the consortium’s Panama project maybe this could be a reason to explain… or USA medias cannot be trusted so much? And Hillary Clinton’s links ? I would like to find more but this is such a huge scandal i don’t know from where to start analysing the information

      2. It is very confusing…..I am working on it and as soon as I can I will forward you what I find….chuq

  2. SIGH…. The saddest part of the publication of such a large amount of data is that everyone acts surprised…. Where is the surprising part of this? All of it has been happening, right before people’s eyes, for over fifty years; I know. I’ve watched it. I’m not surprised at all. Both the corruption detailed, and the attempts to downplay the data are nothing new at all; in fact, it’s all par for the course we’ve been playing for decades…

      1. 🙂

Nice shot, though I’m pretty sure I haven’t been ignoring it so much as decrying its lack of publication. Yes, now, hopefully it will slap them in the face, but, as you noted, they’re already spinning it as much as possible, playing up one part at the expense of the worst parts… and the idiots are falling for it… Who cares who didn’t pay taxes? Our culture rewards them anyway, & looks up to the ones who can cheat the best…. Instead, look at the data on the corruption, and the other stuff for which power uses its prerogatives to hide, such as the pedophiles hiding in religious/corporate/governmental halls, and the corruption in Congress and the Courts. But, they’ll just spin that too…

  3. First, he conservatively calculates that…at least $7.6 trillion of the world’s financial wealth — or about 8 percent of the world’s total financial wealth…was “missing.” – The Intercept link

Wow, that’s one serious magic trick!

The tax evasion angle is more than repulsive enough. The US is missing out on at least $180 billion a year, all of which is The Riches leaving the bill for The Poors to pay. Because that’s the proper way of thinking about it. “Dine & dash” leaving the sucker with the bill.

Then there’s the mafia & the drug cartels. They get to operate freely and tax-freely, unhindered by fear of getting caught by their bank accounts.

Then there’s the corruption, the bribery…and probably dozens of undetected Iran-Contra style schemes.

I hope this Panama Papers thing gets some traction. It’s one of those ultra-rare chances to peek behind the curtain.
