Thanks for posting that Chuq. It rubs me wrong as it probably does other military who’ve lived through combat to watch civilians fawn over them expressing how grateful they are that they “protect our liberty” when in fact there really never was a threat to our liberty from a few cave dwellers with a rag tag army. The war-profiteers and the militarists keep creating these diversions for civilians so they can continue to engage us in foreign affairs that we shouldn’t really be in.
One of the worst examples of this today is the Wal-Mart sponsored effort to get everyone to buy a green light and leave it on to show our military how much we appreciate them. What a crock!
Here’s a better idea. Quit sending our young men and women to needless wars, killing and maiming them. Pay for their education when they return or guarantee them a good paying job with health care benefits. Quit the false praise that achieves nothing more than stroking the egos of the mindless civilian population who allow themselves to get lulled into these bullshit wars in the first place
