President Trump says that he has paused the US effort to guide stranded vessels out of the Strait of Hormuz to finalize an Iran deal. Trump announced the decision in a Truth Social post on Tuesday evening, saying he was pausing the effort for a short period to give space for US efforts to finalize a settlement with Iran to end the war, the AP reports.
- “Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the tremendous Military Success that we have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran and, additionally, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran, we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed,” Trump wrote.
- The announcement came after military leaders and Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted on Tuesday that a ceasefire in the Middle East was still holding and that—while the conflict is not resolved—the initial major US military operation against Iran has concluded. Rubio told reporters at the White House that “Operation Epic Fury,” the attack the US and Israel mounted on Iran on Feb. 28, “is concluded” because its objectives were met, the AP reports. Rubio said recent clashes with Iran related to US efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz were “defensive in nature.”
Which is good news but then less than a day later Donny makes this announcement….
President Trump on Wednesday suggested that a deal to end the Iran war is indeed in the works—but he also warned Iran of new strikes should it balk. If Iran “agrees to give what has been agreed to,” the war will wrap up, wrote Trump on Truth Social, without providing specifics. But if they renege, bombing will resume “at a much higher level,” he added. His comments followed reports in Axios and Reuters that a peace deal between US and Iranian negotiators was imminent.

Earlier Wednesday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard suggested it would soon allow commercial traffic to resume in the Strait of Hormuz if the US “threats” were over, notes Reuters. But nothing is certain: The New York Times reports that a spokesman for Iran’s parliamentary national security downplayed the Axios report about a one-page peace memorandum, describing it as “more a list of American wishes than a reality.”

It shouldn’t be too difficult to conduct an investigation and discover precisely which individuals or entities have engaged in insider trading on energy markets – and made immense profits… The difficulty lies in creating the level of righteous indignation in the American people, relative to the greed whores cashing in on inside information/trading, necessary to manifest or compel such criminal corruption investigation(s).
I tend to doubt that the average American citizen even thinks about all the money-grubbing taking place. Their focus is on their own pocketbooks –and rightly so.

The actual real costs are in the hundreds of billions of dollars, not a few tens of billions. You need to take into account the huge increase in gasoline prices across the whole country; Fertilizer prices have gone up by as much as 70% just as farmers need it the most for spring planting. If they can get fertilizer at all, that is. That’s not only going to drive even more farmers into bankruptcy and push up the costs of food in the future as those costs filter through the system. Natural gas prices have gone up, although not as much. That means that heating costs and electric costs are going to go up and that’s going to filter down to the consumers eventually. All of that needs to be added to the cost of trump’s little war. Hell, just think of the cost of Hogsbreath’s and Ka$h Patel’s booze bills!

I watched DT a while back saying that ‘The war is over, and we won big’. Then threats of more bombings, and little or no reaction to Iranian fast boats attacking US warships. I suppose he couldn’t mention those because he had already claimed to have destroyed them all. The bottom line is that Iran is immune to his threats. They don’t care what he says or what he threatens. As one of their leaders said recently on the BBC, ‘The war is over only when Iran says it is over’.
That country really has some big balls.

You’re exactly right, Pete. This whole episode has been based on lies by the administration and a demonstration of its breathtaking stupidity. To give just one example of just how mind bogglingly stupid this administration has been, it actually fired almost all of the intelligence officers and agents who were actively gathering intel on Iran and engaging in analyzing the data shortly before the war started. Dear lord, how can you fire your intelligence personnel that specialized in the country you’re planning on attacking right before you attack it???
The US military has also proven that it is entirely unprepared to deal with modern day warfare. The age of big ticket, high tech, incredibly complicated weapons systems seems to be coming to an end. We now live in an age where cheap, easy to make drones that can literally be built in someone’s basement or garage out of off the shelf parts, have become the weapon of choice. You don’t need huge industrial complexes that are easy to find and easy to bomb in order to build weapons so that makes our bombers, cruise missiles, massive artillery, just about useless to stop the manufacture of weapons.
Then there is the cost. A single Patriot Missile costs $4 million and can take anywhere from 12 – 24 months to make. If Google’s AI is right, Lockheed, our current supplier, can only make about 500 a year. Meanwhile Iran can knock out an attack drone in a couple of weeks or less and the cost is about $10,000 – $20,000.
Grouchy, I am still amazed that any country (including the UK and Israel) is still using battle tanks like Abrams or Centurions that cost up to $30 million each. The war in Ukraine has shown that those $10,000 drones can knock them out miles away from the battlefield. Same in Palestine. Tanks have had their day, and are now unnecessary. Best wishes, Pete.
