Missing Plane Editorial

I have resisted conventional wisdom and stayed away from the whole affair of the missing plane…….there have been a wealth of opinions, analysis and speculation on what happened to make this plane veer off course.

It is official as of yesterday……the plane went down in a remote section of the South Indian Ocean with all hands…….it is time to move on and let the families deal with this situation in their own way.  Rehashing what everyone thinks happened is of no use to anyone.

At this point in the ‘investigation” and the story the media is doing NO one any good….they are allowing “experts” that profit from this situation drive the story.  These people are fear mongering and that equals profits……they are using any and all scenarios to keep the other plane carriers worried that something like this could happen to them….and that is good for business.

The media has talked to everybody that has ever seen a 777….the only ones left are the vultures that want to turn this tragedy into profits…..they are acting as enablers………

An official statement has been issued…the story is dead with the single exception if they find the black box……which will do nothing to explain the trip…all it will do is tell what the last 2 hours were…..that is it.  The media needs to let it go.

It is time for the families to deal with their loss and they need their privacy……..

This is NO longer a major story……..MSM needs to back off and do what they pretend they are about….reporting the news.

All Those Medical Conspiracies

There have been a wealth of medical stories over the years and they seem to get to conspiracy level thanx to Obama and the Dems attempt to bring health care to all citizens…..from death panels to throwing grandma off a cliff……some are just plain paranoia nd others are just out right LIES.

Let’s look at some of the more ‘popular’ ones from the net…….

Think a US spy agency has infected black Americans with HIV? Or cell phones cause cancer and the government secretly knows? You’re not alone: Roughly half of Americans believe in one or more medical conspiracies, according to a new survey. Two researchers asked 1,351 adults whether they knew or believed in the two theories above, and four others:

  • Powerful forces are using genetically modified organisms to lower the Earth’s population
  • Regular vaccines cause autism
  • US regulators prevent Americans from obtaining natural cures
  • Companies dump unhealthy chemicals into the environment via water fluoridation

 About 49% of participants said they believe at least one of those theories, Reuters reports. Lead author J. Eric Oliver says that’s because conspiracy theories are easier to grasp than medical information. But he didn’t dismiss the theorists, and noted their interest in alternative medicines—a fact doctors should acknowledge because the conspiracy-theorists may be less likely to follow a prescription. “One of the things that struck us is that people who embrace these beliefs are not less health conscious,” Oliver told NPR. “They’re just less likely to embrace traditional medicine.”

Almost all of us appreciate a good conspiracy….it makes life so much more tolerable……but there needs to be a point where we need to look for answers to some of the more far fetched of them……but will we?

As promised in my previous post….this is the prediction that Nate Silver is making for the 2014 midterms…..read it and weep for the nation.

Solution?  You can either get off your butt and vote or wait for the results and do what you do so well….WHINE!

Bend Over And Grab Your Ankles

The title is self explanatory for Democrats…….I have been saying that the Dems have not done a very good job of framing their positions for the upcoming midterms……I have also stated that with the increase pressure from the GOP on Obamacare failures and the run up to making it more difficult for normally Dem voters…… the likelihood that the Senate could be lost to the GOP come November.

Imagine the screwing that the American people will take with the legislative branch and the judicial in the hands of conservs…….NOTHING will be accomplished for the next two year…..all of which is what the GOP would like….it will make it a little easier for them to take the White House if they can show how badly the Dems govern……..the sad part is that Dems are giving this scenario to the GOP because they are just too good to bother to vote in the midterms…..

But do not take my word for it…….Nate Silver, a political calculus dude, has been very successful in his predictions of political races…..he was spot on in 2012 and now he speaks on his calculations for the mid-terms……

When FiveThirtyEight last issued a U.S. Senate forecast — way back in July — we concluded the race for Senate control was a toss-up. That was a little ahead of the conventional wisdom at the time, which characterized the Democrats as vulnerable but more likely than not to retain the chamber.

Our new forecast goes a half-step further: We think the Republicans are now slight favorites to win at least six seats and capture the chamber. The Democrats’ position has deteriorated somewhat since last summer, with President Obama’s approval ratings down to 42 or 43 percent from an average of about 45 percent before. Furthermore, as compared with 2010 or 2012, the GOP has done a better job of recruiting credible candidates, with some exceptions.

Only person to blame when this occurs is oneself….if you did not vote because it was not interesting enough for you to waste your time……
