We all know that the loud mouth so-called christian got popped and the whole MAGA country went bat crap crazy…..and now they, MAGA-ites, want to make a monument to this person….
Classes are off, security is up, and tensions are high at Utah Valley University as a remembrance for Charlie Kirk lands on the anniversary of his killing. Turning Point USA is staging what it calls a “deliberate act of remembrance” for its founder on Thursday night at the Orem campus, drawing high-profile conservative speakers including Glenn Beck and Michael Knowles, per the New York Times. The memorial has split the 48,000-student campus. Some students praise Kirk as a free-speech martyr and plan to attend; others resent the university’s one-day shutdown and describe the event as turning a trauma into a quasi-holiday. A left-leaning student group is organizing a protest, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. Kirk’s accused killer, Tyler Robinson, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. - How is Turning Point USA doing a year after the shooting? NPR says its future is “uncertain.”
- Six people talk to the Washington Post about how Kirk’s murder reshaped them. “Charlie’s death is what caused me to ask questions and eventually find Jesus,” one Virginia attorney reveals.
- The Tribune also talks to Hunter Kozak, the student and new dad who was at the mic asking Kirk a question when the latter was gunned down. Kozak says in the year since, he’s been the subject of death threats and conspiracy theories. He and his family have had to move, and he’s now in weekly therapy, but he says he doesn’t want to live being constantly paranoid. “I want to trust the people around me,” he says. “I think that’s the only way through.”
- Axios notes that Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, recently penned an essay for the New York Times, reflecting on how she has handled her grief since his murder. “A year ago, when I felt it coming over me, I wondered whether it would swallow me completely,” she wrote. “Now, I recognize it; sometimes I even welcome it, because for a moment the grief makes Charlie feel impossibly close.” She also reveals the one piece of advice that second lady Usha Vance gave her right after Charlie’s killing.

Somehow it seems “necessary” for the right-leaners to make a big deal of anyone who supports their propaganda … dead or alive.

this whole thing is a cynical attempt to turn him into a martyr “for the cause”. Most of the people who are now crying crocodile tears over his death couldn’t stand him when he was still alive. When alive he was tolerated only because he was a useful propaganda tool to try to draw younger people into the rapidly aging ranks of the Grand Old Pissants. He had a young, reasonably fit and reasonably telegenic appearance in contrast to the usual crop of far right ranters, many of whom look like they’ve crawled right out of the pages of “People of Walmart*” so the media latched onto him. But morally, ethically and philosophically, he was doing nothing but rephrasing the same tired tropes the far right has been spouting for decades, with the usual racism, misanthropy and sadism covered over with a thin veneer of a nice haircut, an expensive suit and a phony smile.

Oh, definitely. Book deals, paid interviews with “news” media, speaking engagements. Supposedly Kirk’s death left her pretty well off. She’s his sole heir and she gets all of the revenue from his books, rights to his podcasts, etc. Various “memorial funds” were established that raked in tens of millions of dollars and no one seems to know exactly where that money went to. Despite rumors that she was forced out as the head of Turning Point she remains its de facto CEO, although there are claims she’s “stepped back” from her duties. She is still claimed to hold that position, though. which means she makes close to half a million a year off that alone.
Trying to track down the financials of all of this is difficult because there is so much… Well, basically what it amounts to is money laundering where funds are shuffled around between various organizations and PACs, many of them shielded from public view in one way or another. It’s legal, barely, but deliberately designed to make it as difficult as possible to track where the money is going. Supposedly according to several reports i saw she got something like 1.2 million for a single speaking engagement at a turning point event last year.
She is a shifting looking woman so anything is possible. chuq

A small example
A pastor lead off a recent campaign stop for Michael Whatley, the North Carolina Republican nominee for Senate, with a prayer that asked God to bestow “integrity and honesty” upon the event and to right wrongs “hammered down on the conservative movement.” The prayer was hardly unusual by North Carolina political standards. What was surprising was the man who delivered it: Pastor Daimon L. King is a registered sex offender, twice sentenced to prison for convictions involving children, according to state and court records, the AP reports.
That should illustrate just what sort of people are in this MAGA movement….deviates and morons.
