Michael Steele Gets My Vote

Most of my life I have been a hardcore radical and according to some these days then that makes me a detested Liberal….but even in my most radical times I always had time for and would debate a conservative for there were some stands that I could understand and in a different day would have embraced their beliefs.

I find the conservs these days to actually have a good strong leg to stand on when addressing the public but they cannot fight the Twitter machine…..I find their stands conserv stands and do not confuse them with the policies of Trump they are not the same…..no matter how much Trump would like to claim the conserv mantle he falls short.

This recent CPAC, the big meeting of Trumpians made a big mistake in my opinion when one of the panel members attacked former RNC chairman, Michael Steele……

Yes, that’s the spokesman for the premier conservative confab of the year lamenting that his party once hired a black man as RNC chair. Walters apologized to Steele afterward, and Steele told MSNBC on Saturday he declined to accept it. Steele later called the comments “painfully stupid.”  Can you blame him?

CPAC Communications Director Ian Walters raised eyebrows at this year’s conference after telling an audience Friday evening that former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele only got the job because he was “black.”

“We elected Mike Steele to be the RNC chair because he’s a black guy; that was the wrong thing to do,” Walters said at the event’s exclusive Ronald Reagan dinner. Many dinner attendees greeted the comments with gasps.

Steele did more to expand the GOP during his tenure than any former chairman before him…..his legislative successes were unprecedented…so to dismiss his accomplishments by saying it was because he was a black guy is just wrong and just a bit racist.

Trump is overseeing the death of a vibrant and successful GOP….the party’s roots are drying up and rotting off….

GOP Abandons All Pretense

Many years now I have been saying that the GOP is full of hypocrites….and recently they have proved it in a big way.

For ages the GOP has pretended that the military and our veterans were something special and heroes for their service…..

Every election they salute our veterans and use them as political props….but since the election of Donald J. Trump there has been a bit of a push back against these false narratives.

Recently head of the NSC has been attacked by the GOP and some within the party because he threw some of the alt-Right people out of the Council…..Even military veterans inside Trump’s own White House are not immune. Retired Gen. H. R. McMaster, Trump’s National Security Adviser and a Silver Star recipient, has been attacked by the far right after he fired some extreme nationalists from the NSC.

Then there is John McCain after his cancer diagnosis….RNC member Diana Orrock retweeted a call for McCain, who is being treated for brain cancer, to “please just fucking die already.” Alt-right communities online openly celebrated his diagnosis, calling it “godly justice.”

And these are just a few examples of the crap they are spreading……

The GOP is killing itself…..a party ideas in the past they have become a party of opposition only…..NO real agenda on anything….just words in a campaign ad.

All this division within the White House is not getting anything done to “Make America Great Again”!

Is the Presidential Race Really Just an Expensive Reality Show?

The GOP gathering of candidates has been called many things…..sideshow, circus, clown act, etc……..

The media has done what they wanted….the popularity of reality TV is a great revenue generator….the MSM has turned the whole GOP election cycle into one large reality show……(Politics be damned)…..

And sadly Americans approve……

What should be a discussion about policy is instead pitched as a prizefight.

Rancid Prius Speaks!

Allow me to catch you up…..Ukraine is still a head scratcher…..the plane is still missing with NO actual facts to report but the media will not let it go………

First, let me say I apologize for the title…..when I hear the chairman of the RNC’s name….that is all I can think….,funny how the mind works, huh?

Let’s move on….shall we?

It seems that for the first time in many years I find myself in agreement with the chairman of the RNC and the BS he tries to pass off as facts…….

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus Tuesday didn’t merely predict that 2014 would be a wave election for Republican candidates. He predicted a political tsunami.

Speaking to reporters at a breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor, Priebus said ‘I think we’re in for a tsunami-type election in 20014’ powered largely by Republicans winning six Senate seats to regain control of that chamber.

‘My belief is, it’s going to be a very big win, especially at the U.S. Senate level, and we may add some seats in congressional races,’ he told reporters. ‘But I need to and we need to at the RNC level make sure that we can capture the positives and the benefits we’ve been able to provide in 2014 and build on that to have success in 2016, which is a very different type of election.’

It is not looking good, at this point in the cycle, for the Dems in Congress…..they will have to deal with high debt, the failed rollout of Obamacare and the general wimpiness of the candidates that grows more and more with each session.

But how can this be explained?  All too many are asking this question…..and I believe there is a simple answer……..

Forgot who said this but it rings true…..”Never underestimate the power of human stupidity”…..if you do not like that answer then let me leave you with the words of Martin Luther King, Jr……”Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity”

And that my friends is….Enough Said!

GOP Course Change?

I recall after the last election….you know the one where Mitt got his pants beaten off…..the GOP and its chairman, Rancid Prius (sorry cannot remember his real name and too lazy to use Google) stated that the GOP was gonna take stock and try to reach out to those disenfranchised voters…you know like women, Latinos, working folk, etc……

An excellent idea and I for one was looking forward to some substance to their issues and not just “we hate Obama” rhetoric…..this was the perfect opportunity for them to be successful…….many Americans were getting weary of the Obama admin and their sluggish policy machine….the voters were there for them to reach out to and hopefully convert……but…….

So far NOTHING has changed…they are NOT reaching out to new voters……they remain with an aging white base….they allow the idiots of the party free and unhampered access to spout all sorts of insulting rhetoric and falsehoods…….and policies….where are the NEW ideas on policy prep?

At the winter meeting of the RNC the chairman made some amazing statements……

We’ve come a long way since we gathered in Charlotte and vowed to renew our party, to grow, and to win.

As you’ve seen these last few days, we’re making great progress. We’re meeting our goals. We’re ‘making it happen.’

On all these things, I could go into greater detail. But you’ve heard and seen most of the numbers by now. So I just want to underscore the big picture. What we’re doing together is unprecedented for the RNC, for any party committee. We already have more people in the field than we do in headquarters. That’s unheard of in an off year. In some cases, that’s unheard of in an election year.

And we’re accomplishing these things because we’re united.

There are also people who want to turn the healthy conversations we’re having into headlines. They want to make a family discussion look like division. But we’re not going to let that happen, either.

I think it’s a good thing that we can have honest discussions on policy. A robust party should take time to debate the right solutions, and the right tactics. But there shouldn’t be any question: We’re united on our principles…

…yes, our party has come up with multiple ways to protect Americans from the consequences of Obamacare. But does anyone doubt that we’re united in saying that America deserves better than the Unaffordable Care Act?

Enough!  I could go one with his comments but why?  His comments are those of a delusional prick.  I have seen NOTHING new or anything that could be clled a success….with the exception of ACA (Obamacare for those haters) and that had NOTHING to do with GOP policy but rather a failed roll-out of the program…..very fortuitous for the GOP.

The RNC is already investing in a strong ground game for the 2014 elections, having already recruited more than 8,000 precinct captains. The committee has one of the largest, most diverse staffs it has ever had, officials said last week, and it has restructured its operations so they are data-driven. The committee is investing in all 50 states while eyeing some states where they could invest more substantially ahead of the 2016 election cycle.

But what good is a ground game if you have nothing to offer perspective voters?

The one area that has the GOP most concerned is the so-called “war on women”….but they have a plan…well sort of…….

The RNC is also considering a tactical defense against the Democrats’ “war on women” attack that in 2012 brought down candidates like Missouri’s GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin. The committee will consider a new resolution that states the RNC will not support the “strategy of silence” when it comes to Republican candidates and the issue of “life,” urging candidates to defend their positions and fight back.

Let me help them with this one issue….if you do not want it to appear as though there is a war on women then put a muzzle on the morons…..every time they open their mouths they feed that perception…..they can defend their position without using stupid statements to make their point….you know like “legitimate rape” or “biblical authority” or (pick one…they are not hard to find)…….as long as your candidates go off script the harder it is to reel they comments back…..just a suggestion……

I am a political philosopher and believe me when I say that I would love to see a new and improved GOP……… would make for a much better political stage….but so far all they have is….well NOTHING!  They have the same mindless twaddle from mental midgets……the people with an intellect are move to the fringe and told that they are NO longer political pure….there can NEVER be a strong GOP as long as these types of thoughts are allowed to blossom and bear fruit…….it is just that simple.

The Humor That Is Debates

We have had the presidential debates for well over 100 years, but in the last 50 years it has become a joke….they are NOT debates….they are allowing candidates to give talking points and when you have more then 3 people on a stage then it is a circus, NOT a debate…all that aside….we have had a scenario playing out where a couple of networks will be airing a biopic of Clinton, Hillary not Bill, and the RNC sees it as a way to promote her as an anointed winner……(in case anyone is interested, I believe that the biopic will be produced by FOX, but that is somehow okay)……

Any way the head man of the RNC is turning this into a clown act……he wanted the RNC summer meeting to vote to not allow these two networks to ask questions in the upcoming endless season of debates……he has an answer to the gaping hole of creditable questioners……

The Republican National Committee, already threatening to block CNN and NBC from hosting 2016 primary debates if they air planned features on Hillary Clinton, is also looking to scrap the old model of having reporters and news personalities ask the questions at candidate forums.

Miffed that their candidates were singled out for personal questions or CNN John King’s “This or That,” when he asked candidates quirky questions like “Elvis or Johnny Cash,” GOP insiders tell Secrets that they are considering other choices, even a heavyweight panel of radio bigs Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.

They told Secrets that they are eager to bring in questioners who understand Republican policies and beliefs and who have the ability to get candidates to differentiate their positions on core conservative values.

The move comes as several conservatives are pressuring the party to have Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin ask the debate questions. “It makes a lot of sense. We’d get a huge viewership, they’d make a lot of news and maybe have some fun too,” said one of the advocates of the radio trio hosting debates.

Now there is an idea….allow the media spokespersons for the Right to ask sofball questions…that ought to be informative, that is assuming that Repubs want to be informed….

Meanwhile back at the summer meeting……..

The Republican National Committee formally decided Friday not to partner with CNN and NBC News for any presidential primary debates during the 2016 election cycle, a rebuke of the networks’ plans to air programs about Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Top RNC leaders voted unanimously on a resolution stating that the national party will not partner with the networks nor sanction any primary debates they plan to sponsor and broadcast.

Cable and broadcast television networks have sponsored and produced dozens of presidential primary debates during the recent presidential election cycles, often partnering with state parties or other political organizations in order to draw candidates to the televised events. During the 2012 cycle, top networks sponsored at least 20 debates that stretched from May 2011 to February 2012; CNN hosted seven debates, while NBC News, CNBC or MSNBC hosted four.

The networks do not need the permission of the RNC to host such debates, but the resolution approved Friday likely will prompt state party officials and other conservative organizations to not sponsor, sanction or attend any debates hosted by NBC or CNN and thus keep candidates from attending.

In an early sign of the resistance the two networks might face in early primary states, officials with the New Hampshire Republican Party said the RNC “was right to raise concerns” and that it agreed with plans not to partner with CNN or NBC.
Party officials approved the resolution Friday morning in Boston at the RNC’s annual summer meeting.

You see this is cover for the front runners……they can refuse to debate saying the party has forbid it….a cowards way out but it will be effective…..just another attempt to keep dumb asses from putting their foot in their mouths on national TV….

This is all so much theater…..just another way of avoiding dealing with problems and offering solutions….all this just helps them lose yet another election….

Self-Inflicted Wounds

We hear from the chairperson of the RNC just how the GOP will win elections…..and that tactic is to be positive.  After making that statement he fires off a whole diatribe of negativity on Obama.  And then there was the “autopsy” the RNC put out after their dreadful showing in the last election…..and so far all they have is the same extreme issues that gave them a horrendous lose……their biggest situation they want to rectify is the loss of Hispanic votes……..and how is that going for the GOP?

Here’s how that outreach effort has worked out over the past few months:

1. Voted to deport DREAMers: With DREAMers standing in the room and booing, 221 House Republicans voted to defund the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which would effectively resume deportations. Meanwhile, comprehensive immigration reform has come to a grinding halt in the House, which has split on whether to include a path to citizenship.

2. Suppressed minority votes: Immediately after the Supreme Court struck down part of the Voting Rights Act, Texas moved to enact a voter ID law and North Carolina rolled out a series of voter suppression bills. Texas has now joined a case to permanently undo Voting Rights Act protections. It doesn’t help matters that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia called the Voting Rights Act a perpetuation of “racial entitlement.”

3. Dismissive and racist language: Republicans haven’t figured out a way to keep Rep. Steve King (R-IA) quiet, since the congressman refuses to apologize for calling immigrants drug mules. But it’s not just Steve King. In private King insists his colleagues agree with him, while Rep. Don Young (R-AK) used the word “wetbacks” to describe Hispanics. Meanwhile, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) has made a case against multiculturalism, saying, “there’s only one race here, it’s the American race.”

4. Boycotting Spanish-language TV: Due to its invented controversy involving networks broadcasting Hillary Clinton documentaries, the RNC said it will boycott Spanish-language networks Telemundo and CNN Espanol for 2016 debates, too.

5. Insensitivity on Trayvon Martin: Texas Governor Rick Perry reacted to George Zimmerman’s not guilty verdict for the death of a black teen by insisting the justice system is “color blind.” Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) told African-Americans to “get over it.” King blamed Obama for Zimmerman even having to stand trial for Martin’s death. And Florida Governor Rick Scott has refused to even open debate on the state’s controversial Stand Your Ground law.

6. Tea Party condescendingly talks race: Even as he attempted to broaden the Republican party’s appeal to black voters, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) condescendingly discussed the history of civil rights and discrimination during his April speech at Howard University. Paul, who once admitted he opposes the Civil Rights Act of 1964, recently explained he doesn’t “think there is any particular evidence” of black voters being prevented from voting.

7. Relied on racist author’s Heritage study to fight immigration reform That former Heritage author Jason Richwine earned his Ph.D for a racist dissertation linking race and IQ has not stopped Republicans from heralding Heritage’s discredited findings on immigration.

8. Pursued rabidly anti-LGBT agenda: Gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli has stood by his position of viewing LGBT people as “soulless” and “self-destructive.” The RNC also unanimously passed anti-LGBT resolutions without any debate in April. Neither shows Republicans are serious about showing LGBT Americans “we care about them too,” like the RNC stated.

9. Ignored uninsured voters: Latinos have among the lowest rates of health coverage in the U.S., and also back Obamacare 2 to 1. The GOP has ignored this issue, and haven’t offered any alternatives for the uninsured, even as many of them threaten to shut down the government to block Obamacare.

10. Still arguing for self-deportation: Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, invited by Republicans to testify on immigration, is still arguing for self-deportation. Even RNC chairman Reince Priebus slammed this approach as “horrific.”

To me it looks like they believe if they offer Hispanics a Rubio or a Cruz then they will rush to support the surnames.  The problem is that Hispanic voters are not as stupid as the GOP would like them to be………

A Rancid Duel

By now all the Righties have gotten wind of this through their grapevine and all have an opinion….none of them are especially accurate….but in case you have been busy watching re-runs of Hillbillies For Hire let me assist….

CNN and NBC had better pull the plug on their plans to bring Hillary Clinton to the small screen, or Reince Priebus is threatening to take his 2016 presidential debates and find them another network home. In a sternly worded letter today to network honchos, the RNC chair calls NBC’s forthcoming miniseries and CNN’s documentary “disturbing and disappointing,” and a “thinly veiled attempt at putting a thumb on the scales of the 2016 presidential election.” In case his point is proving elusive, Priebus admonishes the networks for producing an “extended commercial” and a “this political ad masquerading as an unbiased production.” But Priebus isn’t just speaking softly: If CNN and NBC won’t listen to reason and yank the programming before August 14, he says he’ll “seek a binding vote of the RNC stating that the committee will neither partner with you in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates which you sponsor.” Neither NBC nor CNN had immediate comment, notes the AP.

And now both organizations have issued statements….

NBC News has already separated itself from its planned miniseries, with the network’s Communications Director Erika Masonhall tweeting, “NBC News is completely independent of NBC Entertainment and has no involvement in this project.”

How about the other culprit in this conspiracy, CNN?

“CNN Films, a division of CNN Worldwide, commissioned a documentary about Hillary Clinton earlier this year. It is expected to premiere in 2014 with a theatrical run prior to airing on CNN. This documentary will be a non-fiction look at the life of a former First Lady and Secretary of State. Instead of making premature decisions about a project that is in the very early stages of development and months from completion, we would encourage the members of the Republican National Committee to reserve judgment until they know more. Should they decide not to participate in debates on CNN, we would find it curious, as limiting their debate participation seems to be the ultimate disservice to voters.”

I bet you thought there could not be another scandal for awhile……you were wrong!

My take on this is…..I can understand the paranoia of the RNC…….but Hilary Clinton is a compelling story and that from a person that is not one of her best defenders.  A successful lawyer, first lady of Arkansas, first lady of the nation, US Senator and the Secretary of State….tell me why she is not a compelling story?  I can see why a documentary would be made about this women and her successes.

So here is a compromise for the RNC…..give the networks the names of conservative women with equal successes and they will do a vid of her….oh wait!  There are NONE!  Why?  Women are not especially important to the RNC.  The party spend a lot of time making women less than the men that roam the halls of conservatism.

But by all means, give them some women that you feel represent the successes of women in the party.

This is just another piece of crap to feed to the ignorant to keep them from asking hard questions that the GOP has NO answers……….another imaginary “scandal”….maybe it will give dumbass Issa something to do since his other scandals were flops.

To my friend, Rancid Prius, stop trying to appear to be relevant……..you are NOT!

Far Right Makes GOP Shiver

I was reading in Politico about what is going on in the ranks of the GOP, in an article written by Jeff Vandehei and Mike Allen:

Many top Republicans are growing worried that the party’s chances for reversing its electoral routs of 2006 and 2008 are being wounded by the flamboyant rhetoric and angry tone of conservative activists and media personalities, according to interviews with GOP officials and operatives.

Congressional leaders talk in private of being boxed in by commentators such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh — figures who are wildly popular with the conservative base but wildly controversial among other parts of the electorate, and who have proven records of making life miserable for senators and House members critical of their views or influence.

Some of the leading 2012 candidates are described by operatives as grappling with the same tension. The challenge is to tap into the richest source of energy in the party — the disgust of grass-roots conservative activists with President Barack Obama and their hunger for a full-throated attack on his agenda — without coming off to the broader public as cranky and extreme.

I would like to say that this is a good occurrence that the “real” conservatives are worried about their future in politics…I said I would like to…but that is not the way I see it…..people like the Mitt-ster has done a good job of lying low during the craziness…but that may hurt him in the long run in 2012…it will depend on if the party implodes…..and then there is the chairman of the RNC, Michael Steele….he is suppose to be the front man for the GOP and yet he is echoing the accusations, lies and misinformation that is flying around the conservative talk radio ….that does not bid well for “real” conservatives…..

Then we have Rep, Bachmann from Minnesota who are calling Repubs like Dole and Frist agents of Obama and are non-pro-freedom (her term not mine)…is this what will continue to happen?  The GOP eating their own?  I guess if you think that the people of the US need health care then you are anti-freedom (my term not hers).

I think that the off year elections could be the most telling indicator…..if the GOP cannot capitalize on the rift that the Right wing activists created, then they, the GOP, will be doomed in the 2012 election….unless they can find someone that appears to be more centered in reality than any of the mouths they have now.

Steele Trap Of A Mind!

Many well respected GOP members are jumping on the bandwagon with a lie…the lie about “death Councils”…..it all stared with some conservative wingnut named McCoy and it has snowballed into a whole set of lies and a bunch of misinformation…..and the GOP isd climbing onto that vehicle.

Even the head of the RNC is playing this lousy game.  When asked about the comment that Palin recently made about “death councils” he said and I quote from his interview:

Well, I think it’s, I think it’s proper because its within the context of what people are seeing in some of the legislation that’s floating around out there. When you’re talking about panels that are going to be imposed, that will be making life and death decisions, that will be making decisions about whether or not you get health care or don’t receive health care. I think that’s perfectly appropriate.

This was Steele’s defense of Palin’s comment on “death councils” on FOX News with Cavuto. Take that for what it is worth.
