More 100 Days Antics

On his 100 anniversary our boy in DC went to Michigan to run his mouth…..my granddaddy had a saying about people like Donny…’they talk out of both sides of their mouth’….but enough reminiscing….what did he go on and on about?

President Trump on Tuesday celebrated the 100th day of his second term—yet spent much of his rally marking it in campaign mode, bringing up past grudges and grievances. The AP reports that at the rally at Macomb Community College in suburban Detroit. Trump repeatedly mocked his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, attacking his mental acuity and even how he appears in a bathing suit. He again claimed he won the 2020 presidential election. And he attacked polling and news coverage not favorable to him. “I miss the campaign,” he said at one point, per the New York Times.

  • Trump again and again returned to immigration, his signature issue, at the rally that marked his largest political event since returning to the White House—boasting about his administration’s “mass deportation” efforts that have sent arrests for illegal crossings along the US-Mexico plummeting. “Removing the invaders is not just a campaign pledge,” Trump said. “It’s my solemn duty as commander-in-chief. I have an obligation to save our country.” He paused his remarks to play a video of of alleged gang members arriving at a notorious prison in El Salvador, with the crowd cheering as images of deportees having their heads shaved were played.
  • We’re here tonight in the heartland of our nation to celebrate the most successful first 100 days of any administration in the history of our country,” Trump said, standing before large electronic screens reading “100 Days of Greatness.” He later added: “We’ve just gotten started. You haven’t even seen anything yet.”
  • “After a lifetime of unelected bureaucrats stealing your paychecks, attacking your values and trampling your freedoms, we are stopping their gravy train, ending their power trip, and telling thousands of corrupt, incompetent and unnecessary deep state bureaucrats, ‘you’re fired!'” Trump said during the 90-minute speech to crowd of around 3,000.
  • Trump gave shoutouts to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and CNN commentator Scott Jennings, inviting the Republican consultant up on stage, the AP reports. Trump ended as he always did on the campaign trail, proclaiming he will “fight, fight, fight” and “win, win, win.”
  • The Times reports that the Democratic National Committee issued a statement in response to Trump’s rally: “While Donald Trump lives in his delusions, Michigan families—along with millions of working families across this country—are forced to live with the consequences of his dangerous, chaotic, and economy-destroying agenda.”

He said he missed campaigning….what the Hell was this rally….

Then there was his 100 days interview with ABC News….would we call it contentious?

In addition to his Michigan rally, President Trump gave an interview to ABC News to mark his 100th day in office Tuesday, and it wasn’t exactly a friendly one. Words like “contentious” and “testy” were being used to describe Trump’s sit-down with Terry Moran, an anchor and senior national correspondent for the network—whom Trump said he picked for the interview because he’d “never heard of” him before. The two clashed on topics including tariffs, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and the administration’s mass deportation efforts, per outlets including the Independent and the Hill. Some key quotes:

  • Kilmar Abrego Garcia: While discussing the accidental deportation of Abrego Garcia, Trump sparred with Moran over whether the man had MS-13 tattoos (many have said the photos appearing to show such tattoos have been digitally altered, which Moran pointed out to Trump, to no avail). “They’re giving you the big break of a lifetime, you know, you’re doing the interview,” Trump said during this exchange. “I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you … but you’re not being very nice.”
  • Tariffs: After a back-and-forth on Trump’s trade policies got heated at times, with Trump downplaying Moran’s questions about concerns for the US economy, Moran eventually asked, “So your answer to the concern about the tariffs is, ‘Everything’s gonna be hunky-dory?'” Trump replied, “Everybody’s gonna be just fine. It wouldn’t have been if I didn’t do this. I had a choice. I could leave it, have a nice, easy time. But I think ultimately you wouldn’t had an implosion. Our country had inflation that was worse than they’ve ever had it before. You don’t mention that. Why don’t you mention that?”
  • Hegseth: Trump defended his defense secretary despite reports of chaos at the Defense Department and multiple allegations of security breaches involving Hegseth. Asked by Moran if he had 100% confidence in Hegseth, the president replied, “I don’t have 100% confidence in anything, OK? Anything. Do I have a hundred percent? It’s a stupid question.”
  • Putin: Trump also acknowledged he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin “wanted to get all of Ukraine, once he went in.” He added, “I think if I didn’t win the election, he would have gotten all of Ukraine, he would have taken all of Ukraine.”
  • Authoritarianism: Asked how he would respond to people who are concerned the country is sliding into authoritarianism, Trump replied, “I would hate them to think that. I’m doing one thing, I’m making America great again.”

As usual this interview was never about informing the viewers but rather a chance to take shots at anyone that he considers ‘hostile’.

All in all it was a day that will be remembered for  what your had for breakfast….nothing else.

100 Days–And Counting

The big day is here!

Today is 29May25 and it is the first hundred days of the Little Donny Show….as usual he has plans for this auspicious day….

President Trump will hold a rally in Macomb County, Michigan, next Tuesday to celebrate his first 100 days in office, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Wednesday. This will be Trump’s first big rally since his inauguration and his first visit to Michigan since winning the battleground state in the 2024 presidential election, NBC News reports. Before the rally, Trump will be in Rome for Pope Francis’ funeral on Saturday, the first foreign trip of his second term. “President Trump is excited to return to the great state of Michigan next Tuesday, where he will rally in Macomb County to celebrate the FIRST 100 DAYS!” Leavitt posted on X. She added, per the Detroit News, “Michiganders are benefitting from President Trump’s agenda to revitalize … our economy and secure the southern border, and the best is yet to come!”

I am still working on just what the Hell he means by ‘the best is yet to come’.

But what is Donny’s first 100 days really look like?

While the mainstream media was copiously tracing the physical and mental decline of President Joe Biden during the presidential campaign of 2024, Donald Trump’s decline was largely ignored or downplayed. The media seemed obliged to track Biden’s every move and stumble. Conversely, the media seemed obliged to ignore the worst of Trump’s faltering executive decision-making, but—even worse—believed it was their duty to make Trump’s irrational utterances appear to be rational.

There are already obvious political differences between the first term Trump and the second term Trump, but the cognitive decline of the Donald cannot be explained solely by the fact that there were a few rational advisers in the White House the first time around, and simply no competent advisors or leaders on hand for the second term. Economic advisers, such as Gary Cohn and Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, played a very important moderating role in the first term. The three and four-star generals in the first term were a particular surprise, doing their best to calm the roiled waters of the White House and the roiled behavior of the president himself.

Another look at Donny’s first 100 days from a Moderate point of view…..

There are stories everywhere this weekend around the theme, as a CNN headline has it, that “Trump’s approval at 100 days is lower than any president in at least seven decades.” If you want to dig through some of the numbers, in addition to the CNN poll conducted by SSRS, there is an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll, an Associated Press/NORC Centre for Public Affairs poll, and a New York Times/Siena poll among others.

A president committed to legitimate democratic processes would be concerned.

Though numbers will obviously vary from poll to poll, the story is the same. As per the CNN,
“Trump’s 41% approval rating is the lowest for any newly elected president at 100 days dating back at least to Dwight Eisenhower – including Trump’s own first term.” A mere 22% approve of the job he is doing, and “twice as many, 45%, say they strongly disapprove.

Notably, the partisan divide is as real as ever with “86% of Republicans approving and 93% percent of Democrats disapproving.” Perhaps crucial, though, is that his support among independents has declined considerably, now at about 31%, which, as these results indicate, match “his first-term low point with that group and about the same as his standing with them in January 2021.”

You don’t win national elections without attracting a very healthy swath of independents and, at least at the moment, Trump is failing to do that. Of course, Trump is not supposed to run again, and let’s stick with that assumption for the moment, so does he care about the electoral prospects of the Republican Party either in the 2025 mid-terms or in the 2028 general election? All evidence suggests this man is one of the biggest narcissists in an occupation that breeds them, so not caring what happens once he is gone makes a certain sense. But does he really want to deal with a Democratic House in the final two years of his term with all of the congressional investigations that could lead to? And while taking the Senate is going to be a harder hill to climb for Democrats in 2026, if Trump’s numbers continue to slide, there could be opportunities beyond Maine and North Carolina for Democrats.

Trump’s first hundred days and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad polls

Sorry to say but the ship of state is headed for the rocks and asll the captain can do is smirk and soldier on.

Seriously?

It has only been 100 days….it feels like a lot longer than that….

I cannot wait for the next 100 days….(sarcasm without being vulgar).

But for those readers that are interested here is the possibilities we face for his next 100 days….

The official said there is more to come, with lots of “torpedoes under the water.”
That includes more executive action, a hallmark of Trump’s first 100 days, which the official said would continue like a “snowball rolling downhill.” He said the administration was still working on a travel ban for citizens from multiple countries.
Courts have stymied some of Trump’s actions, drawing scorn from his allies and White House rebukes that those judges are thwarting the will of the head of the executive branch and the people who elected him.
While Trump will continue to wage war with the courts and a government bureaucracy that his team views as too bloated and out of line with his world view, another official said he would put more focus in his next 100 days on trade deals and peace talks.
The president launched an all-out trade war on numerous countries this year before putting reciprocal tariffs largely on hold to allow for negotiations with individual nations. His administration hopes to secure agreements within 90 days.

Man Who Would Be An Assassin

Of course I am talking about the man that broke the media’s back on the Biden age thingy…..the shooter at the Trump rally.

We now have a name to go with the act…..

The FBI early Sunday identified the shooter at former President Trump’s rally as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Secret Service agents fatally shot Crooks, reports the AP, who attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue at a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania, the agency said. Law enforcement recovered an AR-style rifle at the scene. One attendee was killed and two spectators were critically injured, authorities said. All were identified as men. The attack was the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. It could alter the tenor and security posture at the Republican National Convention, which will begin Monday in Milwaukee. Organizers said the convention would proceed as planned.

A 20 year ‘registered’ Republican had his sights on Trump and basically missed….but what do we know about this person?

he Secret Service has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the gunman at Saturday’s Donald Trump rally. Some details emerging about Crooks, who was shot dead by Secret Service agents while on a rooftop adjacent to the rally:

  • State voting records have Crooks as a registered Republican, reports Reuters. The upcoming election would have been the first time he would have been able to vote in a presidential contest.
  • However, at age 17, Crooks gave $15 to the liberal group ActBlue, which works to get out the Democratic vote, per the BBC.  (How will this be spinned by those slugs in the campaign?)
  • Crooks graduated in 2022 from Bethel Park High School, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The newspaper’s coverage of the graduation notes that he received a $500 “star award” from the National Math and Science Initiative. In a commencement video, “Crooks can be seen crossing the stage to modest applause after his name is called out, a slender young man with glasses in a black graduation gown who briefly posed with a school official and accepted his diploma,” per the New York Times.
  • Crooks’ father, Matthew Crooks, told CNN he was attempting to understand “what the hell was going on” and would “wait until I talk to law enforcement” before talking about his son, per the BBC.
  • “We do not currently have an identified motive,” said the FBI’s Kevin Rojek.
  • Law enforcement swarmed the family residence in Bethel Park in suburban Pittsburgh, reports USA Today. It’s about 40 miles from Butler, where the Trump rally took place. Crooks did not appear to have a criminal record.

Now you know as much about the person as anyone (right now)….and in case anyone is interested the man that died has a name….

Proud “girl dad” Corey Comperatore drove half an hour with his family to see Donald Trump, a man he’d admired for years, the Washington Post reports. Apart from saving his wife and daughters, it would be the last thing he’d ever do. As gunfire erupted at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, the 50-year-old engineer and father of two from Sarver threw himself on his family, shielding them, and was fatally shot, according to an account given to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who identified Comperatore as a victim on Sunday. He said Comperatore’s wife, Helen, told him her husband, a former fire chief, “died a hero.”

CNN Digital has put together a sort of time line of this incident as it unfolded….

https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/14/politics/what-happened-trump-assassination-attempt/index.html

The following came to my attention and please save the BS….I am NOT saying I buy this just wanted to pass it on…..

As footage of the incident circulates, skeptics have raised eyebrows over several peculiar aspects of the alleged assassination attempt. The Secret Service’s handling of the situation has come under particular scrutiny. Typically, in an active shooter scenario, agents prioritize covering the protectee’s head, neck, and torso. Yet, Trump was allowed to stand upright and even raise his fist defiantly, potentially exposing himself to further danger without paying to the very high possibility of there being more shooters.

This moment of bravado, reminiscent of Trump’s dramatic mask removal after his COVID-19 hospitalization, has fueled speculation about whether the incident was staged for political gain. The crowd’s surprisingly calm demeanor following the alleged shooting has also raised questions. In most active shooter situations, one would expect more panic and chaos, not the relatively composed reaction witnessed at the rally.

Like most any situation….someone can turn it into a conspiracy….again I am not saying that I am buying onto this situation….just wanted to let people know what is being passed off as news.

Any thoughts on the possibility?

Will history be changed by the actions of this would be assassin?

The “Orange” Return

Saturday that other guy that was president return to the rally circuit….and as usual he rambled and babbled for an hour and a half….and the peasants rejoiced.

Donald Trump on Saturday pushed Republicans to support candidates who are loyal to him in next year’s midterm elections as the former president launched a new more active phase of his post presidency. Trump, 74, teased the prospect of another presidential bid of his own in 2024, but vowed first to be an active presence on the campaign trail for those who share his values in next year’s fight for control of Congress. “The survival of America depends on our ability to elect Republicans at every level starting with the midterms next year,” Trump charged early in what the AP describes as a rambling speech that spanned nearly an hour and a half. Standout details:

  • Trump’s speech to an estimated 1,200 Republican officials, activists, and supporters gathered for the North Carolina GOP convention in Greenville was the opening appearance in what is expected to be a new phase of rallies and public events. His advisers are already eyeing subsequent appearances in Ohio, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia to help bolster midterm candidates and energize voters.
  • Invited to the stage briefly during his remarks, Trump daughter-in-law and North Carolina native Lara Trump announced she would not run for the Senate because of family obligations. “I am saying no for now, not no forever,” Lara Trump said.
  • Minutes later, Trump announced his endorsement of loyalist Rep. Ted Budd in the crowded Republican primary, adding a slap at former Gov. Pat McCrory, who has been critical of Trump’s falsehoods about the 2020 election. “You can’t pick people who have already lost two races and do not stand for our values,” Trump said. McCrory served as the North Carolina governor from 2013 to 2017, but lost elections before and after his term.
  • Trump focused his early remarks on President Biden, referring to “the most radical left-wing administration in history. … As we gather tonight our country is being destroyed before our very eyes.” The former president waited more than an hour to reference the 2020 election, which he described as “the crime of the century.”
  • The Guardian reports he also went after Anthony Fauci, whom he called “not a great doctor but a great promoter. … He’s been wrong on almost every issue and he was wrong on Wuhan and the lab also,” Trump said.
  • The Hill reports Trump zeroed in on China, its pandemic role, and what he believes it owes us. “The time has come for America and the world to demand reparations and accountability,” he said. “China must pay, they must pay.” More specifically, he believes the world should give China a bill for a minimum of $10 trillion. “The damage is far, far greater than that,” Trump said. “As a first step, all countries should collectively cancel any debt they owe to China as a down payment on reparations.”

The lies and bullsh*t has begun again.

All in all it was an hour and a half of hate and lies…..and the peasants rejoiced.

A pathetic display by a master of pathetic displays.

Still Steaming After All These Days

Donald the Orange is still steaming over the anemic response to his rally in Tulsa…..

The limp dick response was a perfect metaphor for the Trump presidency……but days after the fact he is still pissing and moaning……….

President Trump’s weekend rally in Tulsa did not go as planned, with a post-mortem in Politico going so far as to use the word “debacle” to describe it. Much of the negative attention is focused on campaign chief Brad Parscale, who boasted beforehand of more than 1 million requests for tickets, a far cry from the official turnout estimate of 6,200 at the downtown arena on Saturday. A sample of the fallout:

  • ‘Fox & Friends’: The usually supportive Trump show didn’t have much good to say about the rally Monday, notes Mediaite. “I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to put 20,000 people in a room with masks optional,” said co-host Steve Doocy, referring to the arena’s capacity. In fairness, added Brian Kilmeade, “as experienced as anyone is, no one has ever been through a campaign with a pandemic and civil unrest, two things out of control of Democrats and Republicans.”
  • Parscale: CNN reports that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are angry at Parscale for raising expectations too high, though the couple denies it publicly. The story quotes another adviser, anonymously, who says of Parscale and his team: “They gave adversaries and media a gift. It was overconfidence.”
  • TikTok stunt: As has been widely reported, users of TikTok have claimed credit for making bogus ticket reservations, but the true impact of that stunt is “complicated,” per an analysis in the Washington Post. It notes that both the Trump campaign and critics of Trump think the TikTok impact has been exaggerated. From the latter camp: “You’re giving way too much credit to people on social media and not nearly enough blame on Trump’s failure of a campaign for this one,” declared writer Parker Malloy. Parscale, for his part, blamed the low turnout on the media for “apocalyptic” coverage and local police for overreacting to protests and keeping supporters away.
  • Now what? Plans for future “mega-rallies” are now up in the air, according to the Politico analysis. An alternative might be smaller rallies at outdoor venues such as airports or amphitheaters. Lost in all this was that the rally was supposed to be “the kickoff in a sustained effort to sow doubt about (Joe) Biden’s capacity to be president.”
  • Trump: The New York Times has a behind-the-scenes account of rally day. One snippet: “The president, who had been warned aboard Air Force One that the crowds at the arena were smaller than expected, was stunned, and he yelled at aides backstage while looking at the endless rows of empty blue seats in the upper bowl of the stadium, according to four people familiar with what took place.” The Trump team was still dissecting the causes for the turnout, but they acknowledged (anonymously) that coronavirus fears and slipping poll numbers were at play, according to the story.

Another Trumpite will bite the dust…..

“Brad really shit the bed Saturday night. You have to remember, execution is 95% of presidential politics,” the Republican said.

Parscale may not be the only advisor to be ousted.

For me it is a great day when Americans shun an idiot….and in closing how about  Eric Clapton/Sheryl Crow rendition of Don Williams hit…Tulsa Time…..

“lego ergo scribo”

Steaming Over Tulsa!

Kinda reminds me of a country song by Don Williams….Living On Tulsa Time……but this Tulsa Time is about the crowd at a Trump “rally”……

Image

After more than a month of BS around Trump’s re-entry into the world of rallying….the result was far from an overwhelming success.

Word was there were a million requests for tickets making the rally sound like a sure fire win for the Donald…..the arena could hold up to 19.000 and a overflow area was set up……the rally was a bust…..less than 7,000 attendees were there….and Donald the Orange is pissed!

Looks like size really does matter—again. In a story that echoes the debate over President Trump’s inauguration crowd, CNN is reporting on competing head counts at Trump’s Saturday rally in Oklahoma. While the Tulsa fire marshal says 6,200 showed up at the Bank of Oklahoma Center, Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh sees it differently: “12,000 people went through the metal detectors so that number is way off,” he says. Team Trump is also blaming “radical” protesters for blocking the entrances, though a Secret Service spokesman says just one arena entrance was temporarily blocked by “several individuals.”

“The local police temporarily closed the gates at that entrance point,” the rep says. “As soon as local law enforcement was able to provide a clear path, the entrance point was reopened and attendees were permitted to enter.” Not surprisingly, Trump was said to be “furious” over the undersized crowd. Multiple people connected to the White House tell NBC News Trump was also angry before the event started, when news broke that six rally workers had tested positive for COVID-19. Public health experts warned the event could become a “super spreader,” and USA Today reports that most attendees didn’t wear masks or observe social-distancing guidelines.

https://therecount.com/watch/trumps-tulsa-calamity/2645860447

The fireworks over a reignited Trump was a total fizzling dud…..

The mounting threat to his reelection clearly preoccupied Trump in the course of his 107-minute address in Tulsa, which meandered even more than usual. He was clearly far more concerned with his own political survival than with the survival of hundreds of thousands of Americans whose lives are threatened by the worst epidemic in a century. He made no mention of the human toll of the pandemic, which should have led local authorities to ban the rally on public health grounds, while remarking that he had told his aides to slow down the rate of coronavirus testing, which White House officials later claimed was a joke.

Trump began the speech with a declaration that “the silent majority is stronger than ever,” reviving a Nixonian turn of phrase without apparently considering Nixon’s eventual fate as the only president to be forced to resign. Then followed the usual praise of the performance of Wall Street (“the strongest 50 days in the history of the stock market”), always the central focus of the White House.

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2020/06/22/tuls-j22.html

The president blames others for his stupidity….and I hope the people of Tulsa fair well from this possible exposure.
