Are They Naive Or Just Plain Stupid?

From time to time we hear about a politician quoting the Constitution or the Bible and quoting it badly….either they have no idea what either document says or they just make shit up with the hopes that people will not notice…..I have written about numerous violations in the past but the one that I will focus today is the hearings being held by Issa and the IRS…..when the woman from the IRS, Lerner, took the 5th it made a stink….especially from a Congressman from the Tea Party….one Trey Gowdy from South Carolina…it seems Mr. Gowdy took exception to the use of the 5th and said……

“She just testified! She just waived her Fifth amendment right to privilege. You don’t get to tell your side of the story and not be subjected to cross examination!”

May I remind Gowdy what the 5th amendment says……

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

in case that is a bit confusing for Gowdy let me dumb it down for him………

The Fifth Amendment’s right against self-incrimination permits an individual to refuse to disclose information that could be used against him or her in a criminal prosecution. The purpose of this right is to inhibit the government from compelling a confession through force, coercion, or deception. The Self-Incrimination Clause applies to any state or federal legal proceeding, whether it is civil, criminal, administrative, or judicial in nature. This privilege is frequently invoked during the trial phase of legal proceedings, where individuals are placed under oath and asked questions on the witness stand.

He, Gowdy, was showboating for the Peanut Gallery……..I would expect a more professional response especially from a group that carries a copy of the US Constitution in their pocket…..oh wait……I see it is a political prop does not mean they or he have ever read it………

These sanctimonious twats are grading on my last nerve…..the same twats that throw the Constitution in everyone’s at every opportunity…..but until the voters come to their senses and realize what a bunch of self-serving SOBs they elect we will have NO good governance…..and it is politicians like Gowdy that are leading the parade of stupid!

Say It Ain’t So!

Please overlook the use of the word “ain’t”….all I can say is that I had a momentary brain fat!

I came across some news that should make a liberal smile and the radical right quote the title of this post…(it is nice to be quoted)……I found the good news while reading Alternet website……(it brought a smile to my face and before coffee)…..

Since October, Rush Limbaugh’s ratings have fallen by 33 percent and Sean Hannity’s by 28 percent, while Glenn Beck’s been dropped in several markets. Could this be indicative of a larger trend? This week Salon wonderedif their decline foretells a death whimper for the age of the extreme right talk show host.If true, this would also coincide with the public’s increasing disdain for the GOP’s economic policies, wrought by Paul Ryan’s unsustainable budget plan and last night’s unanimous vote to kill Medicare despite the wishes of their constituents. And while the extreme right pundits still enjoy a healthy amount of media coverage thanks to their willingness to drop outrageously racist, sexist, classist quoteables, it’s all countered by a recent surge of citizens getting behind boycotts, which helped result in Beck’s ouster from markets in New York, Connecticut, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. So, is there hope for an end to the windbag era? We can only hope. Read the full Salon piece here.

Is the sheep that listen to talk radio becoming more savvy of the political situation in this country?  Or is it just their listen, all of them over 60 years of age, like their Medicare, even though I do not like the idea of a single payer system?

Finally! A Repub With Cajones!

For two years we have bombarded with the “birther” crap….is Obama really an American citizen?  The Right has been fanning this divisive pile of bovine fecal matter for a long time and it just keeps getting more and more outrageous…..some politicians will not say that it is crap…they beat around the bush and refuse to call these whack jobs out for wasting time and energy on total crap….

I have said there is one way to make this whole “birther” thing disappear……(pause for effect)…..the only way this will go away is if Obama wakes up tomorrow morning white!  It is that simple…this is only a cover for racist bullsh*t…..

But now, a Repub candidate has come out of the wood pile and started acting like an adult….Mitt Romney….NO!  I am not supporting him in any way…just giving a man his props for doing the right thing….

Mitt Romney tackled the “birther” issue in his first interview since announcing that he is exploring a White House run. “I think the citizenship test has been passed. I believe the president was born in the United States,” Romney told CNBC, suggesting that his fellow Republicans should focus on more substantive issues. “The man needs to be taken out of office, but his citizenship isn’t the reason why.”

While this is a noble gesture….there is a history in his family along these lines…..

……in the ’60s when his father, George Romney, was seeking the Republican nomination. The Michigan governor was born to American parents in a Mormon colony in Chihuahua, Mexico. Romney’s opponents labeled him “Chihuahua George” but his eligibility for the presidency was never seriously challenged.

Like I said…..the only reason this is an issue is because we have an African-American as the president…..and some just cannot deal with that……

And They Say There Is NO God!

For centuries people have been debating the existence of God or whatever your name is for some unseen omnipotent being that has some sort of control over the happenings on this tiny little f*cked up planet…..everyone has an opinion (I guess they are kinda like a/holes)….but finally there is PROOF!  So now we can put the whole thing to bed…..(that was humor in case anyone missed it)

Fox News host Glenn Beck may be in denial about his ratings decline, but the Nielsen numbers don’t lie: He’s lost one-third of his audience from this time last year, and has lost nearly four out of ten of his viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, the demographic advertisers most covet.

See!  There is a GOD!

The ratings sag seems to be spreading to Beck’s radio empire as well, where he suddenly finds himself off in key markets such as New York and Philadelphia. Beck’s daytime show was also recently yanked from four radio stations in Connecticut because the program’s increasingly inconsistent content had hurt ratings, according to the executive who pulled Beck off his stations.

It is good to see that I may have been a bit mistaken about the American people and their propensity to believe bullsh*t……maybe now we can get back to real issues and problems and solutions….I can only hope….but then I remember something Ben Franklin once said…..”He that lives upon hope will die fasting.”

UpDate:  While I held this post in my drafts more breaking news has come out about Beck and FOX…..

Fox News and Glenn Beck announced Wednesday that Beck will “transition off of his daily program” later this year.

Beck’s production company, Mercury Radio Arts, will instead work with Fox News to produce programs for the channel.

Crap! Thought We Were Socialists!

Keeping with the socialist theme…….

For a couple of years now…we liberals have been maligned by the Right for all too many reasons….because we do not agree with some of the more outrageous issues then were must be socialists in liberal clothing…..and of course since Obama is a black dude he has to be a socialist…..and since he wanted adequate health care for all Americans he must be a communist  and he even knew Saul Alinsky that would make him a Marxist….and just when I was getting use to the idea that conservatives thought me/us as socialists……my fav kook on the Right has to crap on my parade…..I mean Glenn Beck and his show…..

Far-right blogger Pam Geller was on Beck’s show and was talking about the possibility of Samantha Power could be the next Sec of State….Geller was most upset about something Power said when she was asked about the Israeli-Palestinian solution of a 2 state solution……

the mask comes off, and out comes Obama’s army of little nazis.  Power was asked what would be necessary to stop a move toward genocide by “one party or another” in the Israel-Palestinian conflict; she said it may require investment in a new Palestinian state and a “meaningful military presence.”

And then she resorted to her normal diatribe……example of Geller invoking Nazis to attack those with whom she disagrees. Geller previously accused President Obama of “go[ing] full on Nazi,” claimed Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan is “an admirer of an architect of German national socialism, Nazism,” and called Democrats “National Socialists.”

So now I am a Nazi/ fascist….Since I do not agree with her on anything….that would make me a National Socialists…..at least the title has ‘socialist’ in it……we went from the far left to now the far right……damn!  We need to get our titles straight or we could confuse our opposition…..

I am so confused….will someone please make my mind up for me!

Say It Ain’t So!

First of all, the title is sarcasm!  We can only hope that somewhere a microbe of intelligence is sneaking back into the American political psyche….

For years I have been one of those who does NOT see any use for Glenn Beck….his delusional conspiracies and a search for a boogey man behind anything that is not radically right….has lowered the IQ of the American voter by 100 points…..he has NO political use other then dumbing down the electorate….

But there is a minor glimmer of hope for a return to political sanity on the horizon…..as reported by the UK’s Guardian:

what sounds like a dream come true: Fox News is considering parting company with Glenn Beck, the rococo conspiracy theorist who inspires those on the swivel-eyed right and infuriates anyone to their left.According to the New York Times’s media correspondent David Carr, unnamed Fox News executives are said to be “contemplating life without Mr Beck” when the conservative shock jock’s contract ends in December.

There may be a simpler reason, or two in fact, behind Fox News’s apparent case of cold feet. One is that Beck’s dense conspiracy theorising makes for terrible television. While it had a novelty value at first – Beck’s act has only been on Fox News for two years – it is far more intellectually demanding than anything similar on cable news. He rarely has guests and often appears before a blackboard covered in charts and arrows. In many respects Beck’s hectoring resembles not much more than a tedious Open University lecture from the 1970s, but without the kipper ties. Another word for the format: dull. Hence the inevitable loss of viewers.

The other simple explanation is that Fox News can afford to play hardball because it has a ready-made replacement on hand: former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, a host with a similar appeal to Beck but with none of the downsides. Dobbs is conveniently parked on the Fox Business channel, and can easily switch places.

Will FOX and Beck really split the sheets?  But Dobbs as a possible replacement….well we would go from terrorist causing all the problems to Hispanics being the boogey man in the closet…..so either way dullards would still have their boogey men……

Did you know that if you believe in the “American Dream”, then you are a COMMIE!….I will give you a minute to absorb that…..why in God’s name would I make such an accusation?

It is NOT me that says such a moronic thing…but rather the darling of the radical right….one Glenn Beck, conspiracist extraordinaire…….he  made this assertion recently……on his cable show on FOX…..

So, think about what the American dream is. Got it? Unless you have read this book [Epic of America], you most likely don’t know what it is. This is a progressive book. This was written by a Woodrow Wilson progressive who was, oh, he was great. He was an advisor. Big progressive. The American dream, you think everybody gets a fair shake. Right? Yeah, no, no.

This is the actual definition of the American dream because it was a progressive that coined the term in this book. It’s that everybody gets a house and a car and a chicken in every pot. It’s that, well, you know, c’mon, a fair shake isn’t enough. It’s state capitalism.

On February 24, Glenn Beck said “most likely you don’t know what the American dream is,” that it is actually a progressive invention of the 1930s, and that it is currently being used by communists, unions, and other assorted bogeymen to cloak their radical intentions behind a term that is “warm and cuddly like bunny rabbits.”

See?  According to Beck if you believe in the American Dream then you are either a socialist or communist or some radical Leftist……you listen to his made up crap about Obama and his policies and nopw YOU are a commie because you believe that there is an “American Dream”….and you continue to listen…..

Now, will some one on the Right or a conservative please explain to me why NO one wants to call this moron out for is deliberate fear mongering and the out right lies?  Why is he allowed to continue to spread hate and discontent?  He has a right to speak his mind….but he does not have the right to make up facts to influence the mentally challenged…..

A 2nd Amendment Solution?

Recall back in the day, back in the young days of 2010?  All the hate and Obama scare tactics?  Recall the mental midgets totting guns and a implying some form of violence?  First there was a member of the House of Representatives that said some of her Democratic colleagues should be investigated as un-American.  There were some that called for the Right to “reload” or the mindless quote from Jefferson about the “Tree of Liberty” and then there was another that said that the people needed to use their  “2nd amendment solution”…..well has all their vile and hatred of the democratic process given us our answer to whether these cretins were serious or not?  Don’t look now…but you asked for and now you have it!

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remained heavily sedated and in critical condition Sunday as investigators sought to understand what motivated a gunman to carry out an assassination attempt on the Democratic lawmaker in a rampage that killed six people.  Authorities said Gifford, 40, was targeted at a public gathering by a man with a semiautomatic weapon around 10 a.m. Saturday outside a busy Tucson supermarket. Arizona’s chief federal judge and five others were killed and 13 people were wounded, including the Democrat lawmaker.

Giffords is a moderate Democrat who narrowly won re-election in November against a tea party candidate who sought to throw her from office over her support of the health care law. Anger over her position became violent at times, with her Tucson office vandalized after the House passed the overhaul last March and someone showing up at a recent gathering with a weapon.

Of course people like Palin, McCain, and others have posted just how outraged they are at the violence….but what did these mental midgets think was going to happen with all the looneys out there with guns and NO making them leave them at home?  What did you f*cking morons think was going to happen?

It is time to crack down on the possibility of more of this type of  “political action”  from occurring again……there is a time and a place from you dick brains with guns and a political gathering is NOT the best place for you…

If you extreme Righties want to really improve the political system….then the next time you feel like using your gun…why not turn it onto yourself and do all of us a FAVOR!
