Was An Apology Necessary?

Opinion from the desk of the Editor

Today I started off with international relations and now I will do a 180………….

By now even the densest yahoo has heard of the idiot Sterling and his problems with black people……of course he is not a racist because some of his close friends are black, always a good statement to make when you are finally outed.

And once again the country is having that conversation that we are told we need to have every time some screws up and makes a lame brain statement……..and the beat goes on…..unfortunately the MSM will not lets this go…..they cannot…it is worth its weight in gold in ratings.

Is there any more that can be said?  Of course there is.

When speaking about the sterling situation the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban, made a statement……

“I know I’m prejudiced and I know I’m bigoted in a lot of different ways. If I see a black kid in a hoodie on my side of the street, I’ll move to the other side of the street. If I see a white guy with a shaved head and tattoos, I’ll move back to the other side of the street. None of us have pure thoughts; we all live in glass houses.”

After he made his statement the MSM was all over it and made it into a statement of the Trayvon Martin situation……..and Cuban had to back track on what he had said……..

“In hindsight, I should have used different examples. I didn’t consider the Trayvon Martin family, and I apologize to them for that. Beyond apologizing to the Martin family, I stand by the words and substance of the interview,” Cuban said in a series of tweets.

“I think that helping people improve their lives, helping people engage with people they may fear or may not understand, and helping people realize that while we all may have our prejudices and bigotries. We have to learn that it’s an issue that we have to control, that it’s part of my responsibility as an entrepreneur to try to solve it.”

My question is why did Cuban have to apologize?  he was speaking to truth……but the MSM had to have something to keep the Sterling issue going…..if not they would have to wait until the NBA ruling and that could take awhile and they did not want to lose the news.

My opinion is that Cuban did not owe anyone anything.  He spoke his mind and someone took offense and he did what he had to do……..this situation illustrates why we can NEVER have the conversation that all pundits say we need to have on race.

NO one wants that conversation to take place…..especially the MSM…….people are afraid of this conversation…..why?  You cannot be honest without hurting someone’s feelings or your words are turned back on you……..

The much needed conversation is doomed……it will never take place…..thanx to FEAR!

Advancing The Dream

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  Civil Rights

Note:  I in NO way intend on this post being insulting….if taken that way I sincerely want to apologize….that was not my intention.

Today we celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr………my posts today will be about MLK, Jr in honor of the day………..America would be so much worse than it is today without his leadership and dedication……..

About 2 months ago we celebrated the “March on Washington”, a whole half a century, to this old farts it does not seem like it has been that long, but that is what we get for being old.  We revisited MLK, Jr’s speech, an eloquent speech and all the trappings of a major celebration of a historic event.  But then after the fact we had all media outlets wanting to have a larger conversation on race and its effects….one channel called their attempt as “Advancing The Dream”.

I personally believe that it is beyond time for this conversation, but not the way most media is approaching the subject.  They are doing what they do with all major issues like education, the evironment, etc……throw lots of talk and so-called experts at the camera with the hopes that something will break out….and as usual it does not.  As usual the only thing accomplished is talking heads get high dollar fees for camera time and NO solutions.

Let me elaborate a bit…..the original Civil Rights Movement had 10 demands….let me save you a headache…I will list them…..

Comprehensive and effective civil rights legislation from the present Congress — without compromise or filibuster — to guarantee all Americans:

  • Access to all public accommodations
  • Decent housing
  • Adequate and integrated education
  • The right to vote

2. Withholding of Federal funds from all programs in which discrimination exists.

3. Desegregation of all school districts in 1963.

4. Enforcement of the Fourteenth Amendment — reducing Congressional representation of states where citizens are disfranchised.

5. A new Executive Order banning discrimination in all housing supported by federal funds.

. Authority for the Attorney General to institute injunctive suits when any Constitutional right is violated.

7. A massive federal program to train and place all unemployed workers — Negro and white — on meaningful and dignified jobs at decent wages.

8. A national minimum wage act that will give all Americans a decent standard of living. (And this is still being debated)

9. A broadened Fair Labor Standards Act to include all areas of employment which are presently excluded.

10. A federal Fair Employment Practices Act barring discrimination by federal, state, and municipal governments, and by employers, contractors, employment agencies, and trade unions.

Take a long look at the state of African-American affairs today……was the movement a complete success?

At this point I need to step back in time—-in 1989 I was asked to a political conference held at the University of Louisville….I had recently written a paper entitled “The Shortcomings In The Theory Of Non-Violence” and the scholars thought it would make a good debate during the conference.  I successfully pissed off a whole array of PhDs……at one point one guy wanted to hit me with his cane…I smiled at him and said….”made my point, huh?”

There are a couple of times in history that activists like to point to as successes in the use of non-violence to win a political situation….India and the American Civil Rights movement are the most cited.

First, let’s look at India and Gandhi–his whole tactic was to push the Empire into making massive mistakes by meeting peaceful protests with massive violence….it worked….almost every turn that Gandhi made his supporters were met with horrendous violence and it gained India popular support worldwide.  His major aims were an end to the caste system that kept many Indians down and in poverty, the peaceful co-existence of the religions for the Hindus and Muslims had been at each others throats for decades and usually egged on by the Brits to keep everyone off balanced and of course, Gandhi wanted independence of India from the UK.

In 1947 India was granted independence for the UK and was divided into two sectors India and Pakistan, that eliminated the desire for co-existence.  The truth be known, even without Gandhi and his followers India would have been independent by 1950 or so….the colony was a monetary drain on the royal treasury….the Brits thought that the division into two separate countries would prevent the religious extremism…they were wrong.  And then there was that old caste system…..still in place no attempts to end were ever found.  So basically, Gandhi for all his efforts got a bunch of people killed and maimed and all that changed was an independent India that would have been so without all the violence.

Now fast forward to 1960’s and the Civil Rights Movement and now go back and look at the demands that the movement put forward…..the first demands on housing, education, public accommodations and voting were about the only ones actually met and to this day are still being used against people only under some bureaucratic cloak.  But the vision of MLK has not been met…..living wage is still not that good for blacks, etc.  MLK wanted a more civilized nation between whites and blacks…it has gotten bettor but a huge divide is still exists.

Okay, things did not pan out totally the way that MLK want them too…..what happened to cause that?

I think with the death of MLK the remaining leadership settled on “Something Is Better Than Nothing” attitude…in other words I am saying the leadership caved to political pressure and made the case that they had won the day on civil rights…..If MLK had not been killed or if the leadership had been stronger then the dream of MLk could have been better fulfilled.

We also hear the courage it took for LBJ to jump onto the civil rights bandwagon….the Civil Rights Act was a compromise…..the nation gave up just enough to appease the people and the leaders were used to do so.

I feel that if the leaders had been as strong and committed as MLK then more would have been demanded and received and this whole fake conversation we must have yearly would not be needed today…..yes, there are still some that have not let the “Dream” die……but sadly they are a small voice in a yelling crowd…..

Now back to non-violence…..a great tactic in the bag of tricks…..a great way to draw attention to the movements aims and desires…..sadly it does not give the movement the desired results…..at best it is a compromise and a little reform that can be changed at any given time.  Today’s voter suppression and women losing their rights are just an illustration of what I am saying……..we can thank the laziness of leaders and the legalese used in all the laws…….it is not change….it is reform and reform can be altered at any time…….

Please do not misunderstand…..I am not saying that MLK’s efforts were a failure….they were not….he and his movement accomplished a lot….however with his death it seemed as if the movement was fine for settling what was given……and we see just what that inactivity did for their victory….

I apologize if I hurt one’s feelings but a good dose of reality can cure a lot of ills………Chuq

Please I very much would like to hear all points of view on this……feel free to say anything you like….I will not take offense.

No Argument? Spew Hate!

Some degree of hate has always been there in the political realm…..but in the last few years it has ticked up to the point that it is NO longer amusing.  Surely you have seen it also….you know libs are brain dead……conservs are retards…….so on and so forth….yada….yada…..

I remember back during the days of George 1….then Clinton and on to GW……everyone one of them was setting the country on a course of ruin……but I did not hate them….I did question their sanity at times over the policies they pursued……but from me there was NO hate.

Back in those days I was writing endlessly to the Letters to the Editor….so many in fact that they tried to limit my letters to 2 a month…..so being a devious little turd…..I started written under several pen names to get my views out there…..even in those days right wingers hated…..they would insult, as usual, but seldom had any ideas what they were writing about…….then I found blogging……and dammit I found a whole new dimension of hate……and as usual insults with NO actual debate just flinging insults……as far as I am concerned insults and hatred are NOT an argument……just illustrates the little intelligence the person actually is grasping……

I seems that hatred is becoming the norm instead of the exception……..

(Newser) – Had it up to here with the president and both parties on the Hill? You’re a “hater,” according to a new poll, and odds are, if there were an election today, you’d vote for a Republican in your House district. Some 72% of haters would choose a GOP rep today, the Washington Post-ABC News poll finds. The proportion who’d go Democrat? Only 14%, the Post reports. Some 34% of haters are Republicans, while 38% are independents with Republican leanings. Some 71% are against ObamaCare. And they’re a powerful group, covering a third of voters, up from 28% in 2010. In short, per Sean Sullivan and Scott Clement: Even if Republicans haven’t had the best year, “these voters will come home in the end.”

Okay let’s talk bout the hatred for the prez, shall we?

Surely one has heard all the moronic ramblings of hatred……Obama is a socialist (this shows a serious lack of intelligence)…..the prez is gay or a Muslim or born in Kenya….even regurgitation that is is a dictator……these are all bullshit reasons….you know it and I know it….people use these because they are afraid to spout the real reason it could cost them in votes or cash or celeb status…..but there was one person that spoke the truth…….

There are probably all kinds of great responses a teacher can make to a student who says he wants to grow up to be president. “We don’t need another black president” would not be among them. A white teacher in Fairfield, Ohio, has been suspended without pay and faces dismissal after doing just that, reports the Journal-News. The local board of education took action after four students who overheard the conversation backed up the allegations against veteran freshman teacher Gil Voigt. The board took their word over Voigt’s, who said he got misquoted, reports the Cincinnati Inquirer. He can still appeal the ruling. “He was talking to some students and said some things that were racially insensitive,” says the school superintendent. “We just felt this teacher had crossed the line.” It probably didn’t help Voigt’s case that he had been disciplined in 2008 for making an “inappropriate racial comment.”

This guy is a twat….but at least he is honest on the reason for his hatred of Obama……very few are that honest…….maybe if they were we would take them a little seriously………

My Thoughts On The Bigger Race Issue

This will be my only post today……this subject needs to be talked about and seriously……..

We have just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the March On Washington and the legacy of MLK, Jr…….

I have waited a while before posting this……basically I was hoping that I was wrong and something would have been said …..I realize that after I post this there will be some that will label me a racist…..to that I say BITE ME!  No one knows me well enough to make that assertion……

After the verdict in the Martin case we had weeks of everyone yelling about the need to have an honest conversation on race and race relations….on that point there is a need for such a conversation but we will never have it until there is honesty on all sides…..so far we have railing and ranting but the honesty needed is sadly lacking……

My biggest bitch is MSNBC’s Al Sharpton…..for one thing, I do not think that the person who is the head of an activist group should have his/her own show….that gives an unfair advantage that other organizations doing the same work could not have…..I have never been a fan of Sharpton’s and it has nothing to do with the color of his skin….I just think that he will fixate on one side of a question to the exclusion of the other…….

The Martin case…….personally I thought it was a bullshit verdict and the stand your ground law is a piece of crap …..but that aside after the verdict was in there was a mountain of people throwing accusations and innuendos around and all were calling for the nation to have an honest conversation on race in this country.  WE had to revisit every aspect of the crime and the trial and that effort went Nowhere…..after everyone got their say we moved on to the next big deal for the media.

Now we come to the part that is pissing me off.

Oklahoma, USA….three teens gun down a single jogger because they were  bored and want to see what it felt like to kill someone….yes it was 3 blacks gunning down a white……..and I am waiting for Sharpton to come out swinging on this type of violence…..and I am waiting…..

If the Martin case was a case of profiling and a possible hate crime….what is Oklahoma?  To me I do not give a crap about the color of anyone……this type of violence is as prevalent as the Martin type….but yet Sharpton and his cronies  has moved on to something else……..

If we want to have this truly honest conversation then we need to look and talk about all aspects of the violence……and until we talk about all these aspects then there will be NO honest talk on race…….to ignore one aspect of violence and emphasize another is not honest and is not ever going to be helpful.  We need to stop talking about the race of people involved in whatever disgusting piece of violence they have committed…….most people today are disingenuous for they all talk about the race to the perpetrator…..the act is the disgusting part…..the race is nothing !  There are many issues that can be broken down by race but violence knows NO color and to have an honest conversation, the one that so many are calling for will never arrive as long as we blame the race for the action of the person.

Until all sides have an honest and thorough discussion then they all need to shut the fuck up…..and I will personally ignore anything these twats have to say.  Personally, I think that King would be ashamed of the people that claim to speak for him in today’s world…….he did inspire a generation….a generation that is now more worried on how much cash they can collect than making his dream come true and endure…..ask yourself…..who has the guts that King showed through his life….today it is an ego trip and not an effort to make his dream a reality……..you may try and justify it all you like but there are way too many people making money off Dr. king’s dream.

More From The “New South”

I keep hearing a lot of pundits say that the South has come a long way from the days of segregation…..that the “New South” has become a more equal society and that most of the hate from the past is just….not there any longer.  I live in the South.  The “New South”.  I can tell you that not much has changed in the last fifty years with the exception that the hate that was voiced so loudly is now uttered in backrooms…..I am sure if you follow the news that you have seen the stories of high school graduations that were changed as to not allow blacks to have a prominent place or that the kids square by race and fight or…just go to the internet or Google and you can find all the symptoms of a racist society…..but after all that said….this story is just sickening…….http://bit.ly/o7zWWk

I ask my readers does that sound like there is a “New South”?

Will We Ever Enter The 21st Century?

From the VOMITORIUM

I live in the cultural wasteland known as Mississippi and I have been critical of just about everything in the state, especially the government and its leader Haley Barbour…..but there are other things in the state that just does not hint that it will ever enter the 21st century……..I like to say when you cross into Mississippi there is a sign that states, “Now entering Mississippi…..Set your watch back 150 years”……

The Dems lost Mississippi with the approval of the Civil Rights Act and it has NEVER come back and it most likely NEVER will….for you see racism is still a driving force in the state….

In the past, it was illegal to have more than one illegitimate child and until recently it was illegal to be in a mixed marriage…just to name a few of the laws we have had to deal with in the past….in a recent poll, Mississippi was named the Most Conservative state in the Union……and most of the polling indicates that racism is NOT dead in the state……of course, they all try to hide it with things like, “I have many friends who are black”….this one is used lots and is a key word and phrase when you hear anyone talking about race……

And since Mississippi has the title of Most Conservative I found a poll along those lines on the blog of Jonathan Turley, a constitutional professor….

A poll released this week shows that 46% percent of Mississippi Republicans believe that interracial marriage should be illegal. That staggering number is accompanied by only 40% who believe that adults should be free to marry who they want. This poll just happens to come out on the anniversary of the argument in Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967), where the Supreme Court in a 9-0 vote struck down Virginia’s anti-miscegenation statute.

The poll means that one out of two Mississippi Republicans want to return to the pre-Loving status where (under Pace v. Alabama (1883)) couples could be thrown into jail for marrying outside of their race. In the case of Mildred Loving and Richard Perry Loving, Virginia police raid their home in an effort to find them in a sexual act to bring a criminal charge but quickly changed the charge when shown a marriage license of Washington, D.C. They were charged under Section 20-58 of the Virginia Code, which prohibited interracial couples from being married out of state and then returning to Virginia as well as the miscegenation provision under Section 20-59. After they pleaded guilty, Judge Leon M. Bazile handed down a one-year sentence (suspended for 25 years on condition that the couple leave the state of Virginia) with these infamous words:

“Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.”

So, if you think you have it bad where you live….then think back to this post and realize you may not have it so bad after all……..

Barbour Does It Again

As my regulars know, I live in the cultural wasteland known as Mississippi and from time to time I do a post about my state usually it is something stupid or arrogant or just plain crazy…..and our out going governor, Haley Barbour, is a constant source of posts….and once again…he does NOT disappoint!

Our dear governor has his eyes on the prize in 2012….he would like to run for the nomination of the GOP to run against Obama….he is a brilliant political strategist and a lobbyist and a governor…all the props he needs to qualify for the nomination….the problem is he has to walk back a couple of non-intended (his term) racist remarks…like…..

The governor apologized last month for saying in a magazine interview that the civil rights era was not “that bad,”

And this was Not his first digression….but since he really wants the nomination he has pushed for the Civil Rights museum in the state’s capital of Jackson……

Barbour urged the state’s legislature during an annual address to build the $50 million museum in a state that became notorious during the 1950s and 1960s for violent enforcement of racial segregation and opposition to civil and voting rights.”I urge you to move this museum forward as an appropriate way to do justice to the Civil Rights Movement and to stand as a monument of remembrance and reconciliation,” Barbour said in the speech late on Tuesday.

“The civil rights struggle is an important part of our history, and millions of people are interested in learning more about it. People from around the world would flock to see the museum and learn about the movement,” he said.

What a lovely sentiment!  The problem is this proposal has failed in the state legislature for the last 5+ years…..every year this comes up and every year the governor has been silent on the establishment of the museum….but now that he needs to sure up his position…it is a great idea…..

In a state that is cutting services like a drunken sailor……he thinks it is a great idea to spend $50 million that the state does not have…….but he has said that he wants private donations to build it……..we will see…..it probably will NOT be built….but at least he now has that on his resume that he was in favor of its construction……actually, he probably cares little more than his own political ambitions……

Haley Barbour–Southern Revisionist

As most of my readers know I live in the South and most specifically, Mississippi and our governor is Haley Barbour……I hear the national pundits talk about his political savvy and all that he has done for the GOP and for that matter all that he has done for the state…..thinking…….thinking…..just what has he done for Mississippi residents that is that amazing?  Infant mortality is high, education is low, obesity is high, poverty is running amok…..so what has he done?  Oh yeah he brought a Tonka Toy (Toyota)  plant to the state that hired about a 100 people…that oughta put a dent in the unemployment rate……

Sorry, I digress…..I just do not see where this man is all that and a bag of chips…but then I am not a national pundit…..

The meat of this post is about the racism that still exists in the South, especially Mississippi…..talk to someone in the state and they will deny it and follow up with some of my best friends are black….a sure sign of lying……or the will say that the rebel flag is a sign of heritage…well that part is true…it is a symbol of the heritage of  HATE….

With that said, the hero of the GOP was interviewed and talked about the days of the civil rights movement in Mississippi…..

In an interview that set off a new round of debate on Monday about racial attitudes and politics, Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi, a potential Republican presidential candidate, recalled the 1960s civil rights struggle in his hometown, Yazoo City, saying, “I just don’t remember it as being that bad.”In a profile published Monday in The Weekly Standard, Mr. Barbour also talked about the White Citizens’ Councils of the late 1960s, which opposed racial integration. Mr. Barbour, a teenager and young adult during the 1960s, said that in his town, they were a positive force, praising them as “an organization of town leaders” who refused to tolerate the racist attitudes of the Ku Klux Klan.

“In Yazoo City they passed a resolution that said anybody who started a chapter of the Klan” would be “run out of town,” Mr. Barbour said. “If you had a job, you’d lose it. If you had a store, they’d see nobody shopped there. We didn’t have a problem with the Klan in Yazoo City.”

Revisionism…..those councils were there to fight against blacks becoming part of society…..they were attacked at the their jobs if they tried to integrate, the we attack if they tried to shop in white shops (by attack I am talking about social pressure, though physical pressure was NOT unheard of in Mississippi)…..it is just a continuation of the hate that had built up in the state…..Barbour has very selective memory….and he is a BS arrtist…after all he is a lobbyist in Washington….

His attitude is the same as most Mississippians from age 50 to 90….they are racists and try to cover it with total BS……

He Barbour wants to be a national candidate anytime soon he had better back off this and spin it another way……or he will not be a candidate for president….something he dreams about……

Haley Barbour, Southern revisionist personified!

2010 Anal-Ocity #7

Beauty is skin deep, but stupid goes all the way to the bone…..and is forever…

In case you are new to the site…my anal-ocities are anal statements made by people in the “Know”……dumbass knows no bounds……it hits all parties, all races, all….you get the idea…

This one is from one of my favs….a man that cannot go a week without saying something stupid….Mr. Glenn beck…..

Beck’s newest rant is all about the 2010 Census……thanx to thinkprogress.org…..

He took particular issue with a question asking for the respondent’s race.

BECK: Why were they asking the race question, you said when, in 1790? … Right, they want to know, do you count as three-fifths? Do you count at all? So, you have to know how many slaves did you have? People find that offensive today because the idea was, if we’re going to count, we want to know how many are here for services etc. etc. and slaves would get less. Well that’s not right. One. One. ‘I’m not three-fifths, I’m one. Whites are not worth than me.’ Now reverse it, why are they asking this question today?

So you will get more dollars if you are a minority. So you are worth more as a monitory. Well there is no difference. The reason you don’t answer the race question is because one, everyone counts as one. All men are created equal. If you were offended back in 1790 about slavery and that everyone should count the same, do not answer the race question. How dare you. How dare you. At least in 1790, they were doing it to slow the South down on slavery. To try to stop it as much as they can. Today they are asking the race question to try to increase slavery. Your dependence on the master in Washington. No way, don’t answer that question.

This guy always makes the most outlandish statements and yet he is still on the air and on a network that claims to be “fair and balance”……but to say that the census will return the detestable practice of slavery is far beyond an anal statement and approaches mental illness…..but yet his moronic rants seem to play well with low information people…….btw, that means STUPID!
