Even Jews Have Had Enough

I hear justification of the destruction of Gaza everyday and I see news stories that push that line of thinking…..but the rest of the world wants the insanity to stop….yes even Jewish people are tired of the death and destruction….

This is a story that was not covered in the corporate media (I wonder why)…..

Thousands of Jewish-led protesters descended on the New York offices of the American Israel Public Affairs Council on Thursday, taking aim at both AIPAC and Democratic lawmakers who take millions of combined dollars from the lobby group while opposing a Gaza cease-fire.

Led by Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), the demonstrators marched from Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza outside the United Nations—where earlier this week the U.S. for the third time vetoed a Security Council cease-fire resolution—to AIPAC’s nearby New York headquarters on Third Street.

During the march, protesters carried large letters spelling “DUMP AIPAC” and a banner reading “AIPAC Funds Genocide,” as well as signs listing the names of New York Democrats who take campaign cash from the group while opposing a Gaza cease-fire. Members of Congress named and shamed at the rally include House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries ($829,835 in lifetime AIPAC contributions), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand ($348,818), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer ($101,570).

Other activists occupied the offices of Schumer and Gillibrand. JVP said 18 people were arrested for refusing to obey police orders to leave.

“If you want to know one reason why more electeds aren’t calling for a cease-fire—even though a cease-fire is the overwhelming demand from the people—look no further than AIPAC,” said JVP. “AIPAC uses money and racist bullying to ensure congressional complicity in the genocide of Gaza.”

“Last cycle, AIPAC endorsed over 100 lawmakers who voted to decertify the results of the 2020 election, allying themselves with the far-right,” the group added. “AIPAC is threatening our safety here in the U.S. in order to ensure unconditional U.S. support for Israeli violence.”

I have been saying that AIPAC has too much influence over Congress and it is both parties….I am glad to see that someone else is pointing this out to the public.

Then on Monday night Biden goes on national TV and makes a bold statement….

President Biden said Monday that he hopes a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that would pause hostilities and allow for remaining hostages to be released can take effect by early next week. Asked when he thought a ceasefire could begin, Biden said: “I hope by the beginning of the weekend. The end of the weekend. My national security adviser tells me that we’re close. We’re close. We’re not done yet. My hope is by next Monday we’ll have a ceasefire.” Biden made the remarks in New York City after taping an appearance on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, the AP reports.

This would be great news if it comes about….but I also have this nagging thought….is Biden doing this to give Israel some cover from protests?

Why do Americans think Israel can do no wrong?

Is it some religious thing?

Or is it the Little Man Syndrome?

I have seen, heard and rad some blatant ignorant crap, especially in the last 3 years, but this one is one of the crappiest of the lot.

I seems that in a ploy to gain a few votes from the these “progressive” Jews our president is wanting to make a religion a nation.

President Trump plans to sign an executive order Wednesday that will classify Judaism as a nationality, a move that will add teeth to federal efforts to fight anti-Semitism on college campuses. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 bars discrimination based on race, color, or national origin but not, notes CNN, religion; those who violate that can lose out on federal funding from the Department of Education. The order will reportedly make use of International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism, which covers “targeting of the state of Israel.” The New York Times reports that’s what the State Department uses, but it’s a definition that has been knocked by some as “too open-ended and sweeping.”

The AP predicts free-speech advocates will be no fans of the order, though an unnamed official says that it wasn’t the intention and the goal is not to clamp down on the boycott, divestment, sanctions movement known as BDS, which uses a boycott on the purchase of Israeli goods or the investment in Israeli companies as a means of supporting Palestine’s desire for statehood. But the head of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights frames the order as another step in an effort to “to silence Palestinian rights activism” by, as the Times puts it, “equating opposition to Israeli treatment of Palestinians with anti-Semitism.”

What bullsh*t!

For those mental midgets out there…..criticism of the state of Israel is NOT anti-Semitic!  This criticisms are about a fascist state and not a religion…there is a difference that even a garden slug could tell the difference if they weren’t in Congress.

Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt asserted on Thursday that America is “great” because it “defeated communist Japan.”

“We want to know what you think,” Earhardt said. “We defeated communist Japan, radical Islamists. We ask our men and our women to go overseas to fight for our country and sacrifice so much for this great country so that we can be the land of the free, the land of the brave.”

Well the other day I found one that was a big No Sh*t for me…..

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a “defining moment in the annals of Zionism and the annals of the state of Israel” when the Knesset enacted earlier this month a basic law (having constitutional status in Israel) making the right of national self-determination “unique to the Jewish people” and not applicable to all citizens. The law further enshrined religiously based discrimination, including a clause that points to priority for Jewish-only communities by declaring “the development of Jewish settlement as a national value” and promising “to encourage and promote its establishment and consolidation.”

The law has been a subject of much controversy in Israel. It passed the Knesset by the narrow margin of sixty-two to fifty-five. Opponents argue that it constitutes a step away from democracy. But this was one more item on the agenda of the ruling right-wing coalition that, given the rightward move in Israeli politics in recent years, the coalition was able to push through.

Activist such as myself have been saying this for decades and few were listening……now the world is starting to see what I and others having been harping…Israel has NEVER been this shining democracy of the Middle East.

Of course Israel does not subscribe to these rights…….

The Holocaust was a barbaric event in the history of the world….the deaths and the mistreatment of Jews during WW2 was unconscionable….

The Holocaust Museum gives an award to persons who confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity……..and the Burmese leader of the democratic movement, Aung San Suu Kyi has been told that her award has been withdrawn……

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum gives out its prestigious Elie Wiesel Award to just one person a year, selecting “an internationally prominent individual whose actions have advanced the Museum’s vision of a world where people confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.” Now, the second person to ever receive the honor (Wiesel himself was the first, in 2011) has seen it rescinded. In what the New York Times calls “perhaps the strongest rebuke yet,” the museum on Tuesday informed Aung San Suu Kyi in a letter that it was stripping her of the award due to her response—or non-response, as she has yet to publicly say the word “Rohingya”—to Myanmar’s ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya.

The letter explains the museum has been “closely monitoring the military’s campaign against the Rohingya and your response to it,” and that it began publicly airing its concerns about what was happening to the Rohingya in 2013; subsequent visits to Myanmar and Bangladesh have followed. “We had hoped that you—as someone we and many others have celebrated for your commitment to human dignity and universal human rights—would have done something to condemn and stop the military’s brutal campaign and to express solidarity with the targeted Rohingya population,” the letter continues. The museum implores her to “use your moral authority to address this situation” and ends with words from Wiesel himself: “Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

I think this ward is one that is needed in this world today……however if the museum wants to give this award then it should make a strong statement against the state of Israel for its treatment of the Palestinian people…..the killings, the imprisonment, the land theft, the destruction of crops and homes…..the treatment of the Arab-Israelis as second class citizens.

The museum brings spotlight to the horrible treatment during the Holocaust and yet turns a blind eye to the similar tactics of Israel.  Until they address this then I cannot take them seriously.

I will be called an anti-semite for this but that would be inaccurate….I do not hate Jews…I hate the heavy handed tactics of the government of Israel.

Off I go to boycott as much as I can….will see you guys later…..more stuff in the works….time to begin my weekend of gardening……chuq

But Is It Kosher?

It has been a helluva week…..some great comments here on IST…..dealing with the pain of an accident from 10 years ago…..lots of politics to make me ill and some real good exchanges on other blogs….all in all a good week.

I close my week out with a post on something that I found and just could not let it go past without spotlighting it.

For Jews some things are Kosher and some are not….from what I understand, granted not much, there is a certain code that must be followed for anything to be labeled “Kosher”…..method of slaughter, et al…..

I read a piece yesterday that took me aback…..can marijuana ever be Kosher?

Good news, stoners who celebrate Pesach! Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, whom the Times of Israel identifies as “the leading living ultra-Orthodox halachic authority,” has ruled that marijuana is kosher for Passover. Kanievsky has said pot can be eaten or smoked during the holiday, though there’s one tiny catch: it should be used as part of a medical treatment program

I have fascinated by the Christians of this world that are die hard Israel supporters….I mean after the deaths of Christians at the hands of Zionists, the burning of Christian churches and the list goes on……but even with all that they are still convinced that Israel is a good thing…..

Enough Is A Goddamn Enough!

The Paris attacks were all the rage in the media and now that it is all but over it is still all the rage……but now the media is fixated on what they see as anti-Semitism…..pundits like Morning Joe’s Scarborough of MSNBC is completely flabbergasted at the way Europeans are treating the Jews especially in France.  His question is did these people NOT learn anything from the Holocaust and the events that lead to it?

He is a staunch Israel supporter which is okay with me as long as he does not lie or ignore other facts in that support.  Recently he, Scarborough, went on and on about the attacks that have been leveled at Jews since the Paris attacks…..and his crony Mika quoted a few stats about the rise in nationalistic feelings and the anti-Semitism.  Scarborough said that there have been many attacks on Jews especially against synagogues that have led to a security detail to protect Jewish interests in France.

Scarborough is not alone….almost all media outlets, at least the so-called reputable ones, are following suit.

His concern is admirable but he should fixate on ALL attacks on religious minorities….for incidence, since the Paris attacks there has been 21 attacks on mosques in France and 33 threatening letters and yet it is not important enough for these overpaid hacks to mention it.  But 10,000 French troops are used to protect Jewish interests.

Of course the MSM seems to think that the world owes Israel and Jews more protection than other minorities because of World War 2……personally, I think any debt owed Jews for their suffering in WW2 has been paid….and in full.

When will the world realize that Israel is playing on their sympathy and because it works so goddamn well…..Israel gets a free ride….all they have to do is invoke the mantra of security and the world bends over and ignores any action that Israel takes….whether legitimate of not.

Muslims are being treated worse because the perpetrators of the violence claim to be Muslims………and the world ignores their plight  Guilty by association!

Ukrainian Fascists Force “Jew Registration”

By now I think that everyone has saw or heard the story about the Jew Registration in Ukraine…..of course this will bring about many horror stories about the 1930’s in Germany…..the MSM is running with the story and even Sec. Kerry has jumped on the bandwagon…..the hawks will play this for all it is worth……

I read a piece by Jason Ditz about this developing situation…….

Determined not to let a good piece of rhetoric go to waste just because it was untrue and discredited nearly 24 hours ago, Western media outlets are running frenzied stories about Jews in the protester-held Eastern Ukraine cities being forced to register, providing a new chance to make World War 2 comparisons, and advancing the US narrative that the Russians, and not the “pro-West” protesters with swastika stickers on their helmets, are the “real anti-semites.”

Incredibly, the State Department is endorsing the myth as absolute fact, because what USA Today claims unnamed Israeli media claims they saw posted outside a synagogue in Donetsk is good enough for them.

The truth, not so much.

The leadership of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk insist the official looking leaflets are fakes, and the signature of one of their leaders a forgery, designed to discredit the protest movement. The putative Jew registration service simply doesn’t exist, and Ukrainian Jews who show up at the government building expecting to have to pay a $50 “registration fee” are wasting their time.

Though USA Today appears not to have noticed while trolling the “Israeli media” for stories, the news that the rumors were untrue has been a top story in the Times of Israel for almost 24 hours, because Israeli papers may run a story about what someone saw on a leaflet, but they also follow through on the story afterwards.

Lord knows following through on whether or not urban legends are true isn’t done in the US, which is why all the top stories in US papers today are either Jew registration that’s not happening, or a handful of kids in Tokyo wearing zentai, because that’s sure to be the new fad nationwide.

I will consider this a propaganda piece until I see a more reliable piece of evidence……..looks like a case is being made in the public for an escalation……..

I will be watching for more accurate reporting….maybe the truth will come out……

Some people just do not know when enough is enough!  It seems that No matter what religion one has in their heart….there are still  morons that just cannot keep a civil tongue in their head…..and this is just another indication of how much crap a religious type can have in there mind…..racism knows NO bounds…..

A letter in Israel signed by 30 rabbis’ wives offers clear-cut dating advice to young Jewish women: Stay away from “non-Jews,” and especially Arab men. “There are no few Arab workers who use a Hebrew name,” warns the letter, as recounted by AOL News. “Yusuf turns into Yossi, Samir turns into Sami and Abed turns into Ami. They seek your company, try to get you to like them and give you all the attention in the world. But as soon as you’re in their hands, in their village, under their control, everything changes.”

The letter-signers belong to a group whose stated goal is “saving the daughters of Israel” from assimilation, and it’s an example of how Israel “is falling into a deep, dark pit of racism” one rabbi tells Haaretz.

Here we go….2011 off to a stellar year for idiots talking…….nice to see that racism is alive and well in 2011…..

Why Not A Non-Violent Approach?

I realize I said I would not post on the Middle East conflict again and I will hold to that…this post was a post in waiting….and I feel compelled to post it…..

For the time being any Middle East peace is on the back burner…it has been overshadowed by the US mid-terms and Obama’s visit to India….but people need to keep an eye on the region……it could be the powder keg that erupts without warning and becomes front page fodder….again…..

I recall back in the day in the ME there was the first Intifada…..when kids were throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers and were met with bullets and tanks…this gave the Palestinian cause a shot to the arm in the world stage….and then as quickly as the sympathy began it was over….why?  Some moron thought that firing rockets at the Israelis was a good idea….and once they did all that international good will and sympathy went down the crapper…..

How about a non-violent approach?  Well that is just ducky….but what did Gandhi accomplish?  England would have given India up anyway…..the caste system is still prevalent….so what did they accomplish?  MLK in the Us, what did they accomplish?  Blacks can vote and eat at all lunch counters…but they are still seen as 2nd class citizens by many….so what did they really accomplish?

I have heard some say that the Palestinians should take a page from the playbook of Gandhi and MLK, jr and try the non-violence approach….but is that a good idea?  In an article written by Yglesias for thinkprogress.rg…..

………as it turns out the IDF isn’t just folding immediately upon contact with non-violent tactics. Instead, Abdallah Abu Rahmah who was leading non-violent resistance in the village of Bil’in was sentenced yesterday to 12 months in prison. Some people I’ve spoken to here say this goes to show that non-violence is hopeless and that a return to armed intifada is inevitable. They may be right about the inevitability, but I think they’re wrong about the hopeless part. Your Gandhis, your Martin Luther Kings, and your Nelson Mandelas all spent time in prison and prevailed in the end. The point, however, is that it only works if it captures the attention of the world so here I am paying attention.I know that a lot of decent people try to avoid commenting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because they find the debate too unpleasant. But I find that those same decent people tend to be the ones who like to muse about “where’s the Palestinian MLK?” and such. So if you’re one of those people, I implore you to pay attention and mention this. The alternative to there being some sign that this is catching the eyes of the world is a return to violence and counter-violence and disaster.

Contrary to popular belief….the theory of non-violent action is NOT appropriate or effective in every case…….and the Middle East Peace Process is one of those cases….with that said……it could be part of the plan to get Israel to the table……the one thing that is seldom mentioned when talking about non-violence….that is that your opponent does NOT have to abide by the technique……India comes to mind….Selma comes to mind…..
