Oh Great Another Billionaire Candidate

I know it is a bit early too discuss the upcoming general election in 2028 but there are some names that are being batted around like Newsom….and now the brains behind Clinton in 1992 election has come out with his chose for a candidate….

James Carville’s top pick to become the Democratic nominee in 2028 may come as a surprise: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. In an appearance on Raymond Arroyo’s Fox News show, the Democratic strategist said the billionaire governor has two big selling points: He’s a prodigious fundraiser, and he’s well-liked in the Black community. “If I had to say one guy—I really don’t know him, very superficially—but if I were betting the Kentucky Derby and I saw this 12-to-1 horse and I said, ‘I want to get a prize,’ I’d take JB Pritzker,” Carville said, per HuffPost.

Kamala Harris? She has “no chance,” says Carville. “No Democrat wants anything to do with anybody that had anything to do with 2024.” Carville thought Rahm Emanuel, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro can make strong runs, but none match Pritzker’s overall appeal in his view. “He’s bigger than life,” says Carville. “He’s worth $3 billion and won a million and a half dollars shooting craps and blackjack in Las Vegas. That makes people like him.” Early polling has Harris in first place, followed by Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but Carville calls such polls “meaningless” at this point.

I would expect Carville to push a billionaire for he was instrumental in the Clinton and turning the DNC into a corporate stooge.

He is about the cash not the person.

Meaningless?  Same can be said for his push for yet another billionaire to rape the country….a precedent has been set by Donny and I bet it will carry forth no matter who gets the nod in 2028.

Will the voter be fooled by this?  My guess is they will for they are not the sharpest pencils in the box….if they are then nothing will change just a continuation of rule by the rich.

I know it is early and a lot can happen between now and November of 2028 but for now it is not looking good for the people of those country.

Any thoughts?

Paper One.

As the next election creeps up on you I want to critique the party that will be trying to unseat the entrenched GOP from government.

This first part of my series is a re-post of something I wrote over 3 months ago spelling out the problems that the Dems will have…..

Democrats Are In Trouble

The Dems are in trouble for sure…..the problem is we all see it but the status quo cannot move past their love of cash and their need for the special interests in their fight to regain power.

Stay tuned Paper 2 will be forthcoming.

Project 2029

Yes you read that right….Project 2029 not 2025.

This is the Dems new plan for upcoming elections….

Examining their last presidential election loss and looking ahead to 2028, Democrats are divided on whether the issue is that their candidates aren’t succeeding in selling voters on the party’s policies or the problem is the ideas themselves. So they plan to put together a book of Democratic stances, with a new section released every quarter, for candidates to work with in the next primaries, the New York Times reports. Project 2029 is modeled after the right-wing agenda President Trump disavowed as a candidate and put into action once in office, though not by name.

Party operatives aren’t concerned that their attacks on Project 2025 will rebound on them. They just need to tell a compelling story. In the 2024 campaign, “we didn’t lack policies,” said Celinda Lake, a Democratic pollster. “But we lacked a functioning narrative to communicate those policies.” She said her party’s candidates hit voters with “agencies and acronyms and statistics” rather than with a clear story about “what we’re going to fight for.” Installments in Project 2029 will be released quarterly in Democracy: A Journal of Ideas.

But it’s not just the format that Democrats can take a lesson from, said a former aide in Democratic White Houses who’s on the project’s advisory board. “Liberals underestimate the power of Trump’s ideas,” said Neera Tanden, adding that her party needs better ones to compete. “We get wrapped up in his personality. But he puts forward an idea like ‘No tax on tips,’ and that’s an important signifier that he is championing working-class people,” she added. The project has Democratic skeptics. “Developing policies by checking every coalitional box is how we got in this mess in the first place,” said Adam Jentleson, who’s mulling launching a new think tank.

After the 2024 election and Dems were handed their asses to them the chest thumping was trying to find a new direction that speaks more to the people….so far not has not happened….as a matter of fact the party loyalists even made sure that a true progressive was removed from the DNC, David Hogg.

The GOP used about 40 years to get where they are today and the Dems want to do the same thing in a year and half…..delusional my friends….but then Dems have always been delusional.

The status quo Dems cannot do anything but react to Trump as they have done for decades before…..and there is the resurgence of the conservative Blue Dog Dem (a post to follow later)….another telling example of where the DNC is headed…..NOWHERE!

Watch for my upcoming series on the Democratic Party and the problems it faces.

Out With The Worthless

I have been saying for many years that I feel that our Congress especially the Dems are controlled not by you but special interests.

I have been bitching about our do-nothing Congress…..they let special interests run the country while their rhetoric sounds logical their actions are reckless.

One of the worse of the lot is Schumer of the Senate….now people are seeing just how worthless this toad has become.

Calls for him to step aside and get out of the way of any meaningful progress….

Dozen of advocacy organizations on Wednesday joined the growing call for U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to step down from his leadership position after caving to Republicans on a stopgap spending measure last month.

Given GOP control of Congress and the White House, people across the country saw the looming government shutdown as a rare opportunity for Democratic lawmakers to fight against President Donald Trump’s agenda. However, Schumer (D-N.Y.) led 10 caucus members in partnering with Senate Republicans to force through the spending legislation.

Since then, polling has made clear that voters are frustrated with the Democratic Party and Schumer in particular, and want political leaders to challenge the GOP’s agenda, which is primarily passing more tax giveaways for the wealthy and gutting the federal government—an effort led by Trump adviser Elon Musk, the richest person on Earth.

“Schumer’s inexplicable surrender and support for a dangerous and cruel MAGA spending bill amounted to a complete dereliction of duty and failure of leadership. For this simple reason, Schumer must step down as Senate majority leader immediately,” added Jones, whose group led the letter with Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD).

The Democratic Party as a whole is NOT progressive regardless f the BS they feed the public they are basically a conservative party….but the one bright spot is the Progressive Caucus within the House.

There is where a challenger to Schumer is emerging….AOC….she has the right stuff in my book but she needs to be more progressive…..she is staring down Schumer in the next election….

A poll released Friday from the progressive think tank Data for Progress has Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez besting Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, also a Democrat, by 19 points in a hypothetical matchup in the 2028 New York primary for a U.S. Senate seat.

According to the poll, which was was first shared exclusively with Politico, 55% of voters said they would cast a ballot for Ocasio-Cortez or leaned toward supporting her, and 36% said they would support Schumer or leaned toward supporting him, with 9% undecided.

The only subgroup that supported Schumer over Ocasio-Cortez were moderates, who favored Schumer 50%-35%, with 15% undecided. Ocasio-Cortez carried all other subgroups with an outright majority, except for voters over the age of 45, 49% of whom said they would support her or leaned toward supporting her.

The poll—while several years out from the actual race—comes in the wake of Schumer’s decision to throw his support behind a Republican-backed spending bill in early March, a move that roiled his own party and prompted calls for him to step aside from his leadership position in the Senate.

I hope she keeps this lead and defeats Schumer for the US Senate needs some new blood the blood it has now is tainted ….new progressive blood would do wonders to help change the downward direction the Senate is sliding.

I know many moderate Dems do not like AOC….and just look where the Senate is and the country as a whole under the ‘guidance’ of these so-called moderates….sorry but there is nothing moderate about these garden slugs.

If you want change then make the change and stop pretend that all can work together….that pipe dream died decades go.

What Happened To The Democratic Party?

This is a common theme since the party was handed their butts to them in the election of 2024…..many theories are being floated and many answers on how to correct the situation…..but the key is will any of the ‘power brokers’ listen.

I have my thoughts on what happened and it was not overnight.

It began with the loss of Carter to Reagan and the Dems kept finding the most useless and weak candidates they possibly could but the straw that broke the party was the candidacy of Bubba Clinton and the party’s embracing of big money and special interests….and the party has been sliding down this path for many elections and their greed and embrace has brought them to this spot in our history.

Like I said there are many explanations and this is just one…..

With all eyes on the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, it’s been easy to overlook or downplay the many signs of acute decline in American politics. Donald Trump’s victory is still sending shockwaves through the established political system, so it’s tempting to dismiss his deranged decade-long reign on the right as an aberration, born of incoherent moral panics, misplaced economic anxiety, and declining media literacy. But in reality, the Trump distemper never existed in isolation. It was a fundamental expression of a host of unresolved pathologies—many within the Democratic Party, too—and not an inexplicable detour from a serenely ordered status quo.

The final count shows that Trump again came up short of a majority of the popular vote. Still, it never should have been this close. Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump and the Republicans told us exactly who they are. They pledged to wreak vengeance on their political enemies, to create a new counter-federalist brigade of brownshirts to initiate mass deportations, to bomb Iran to smithereens, and to establish an interstate menstrual surveillance regime. Trump barked out random non sequiturs about windmills and Hannibal Lecter and bobbed silently to schlock-heavy playlists. He dogmatically asserted his faith in tariffs and their ability to magically eliminate inequality and create mass prosperity, even if they would do the opposite. And yet Kamala Harris and the Democrats struggled to mount a successful opposition. Harris refused to separate herself from Joe Biden’s unconscionable support for genocide in Gaza, and she put forward an economic platform that often devolved into a standard litany of milquetoast measures to uphold a starkly unequal status quo—from her squishiness on antitrust enforcement to her pandering to the crypto industry.

Where did the national political machine (and its operators and strategists) that was once called the Democratic Party go? How did it become so fangless in the face of a presidential candidate so clearly ill-equipped for the presidency? For that matter, where was the Republican Party that might have prevented Trump’s third run for the White House? Even as some of its name-brand leaders have broken from Trump, the party remained wedded to a MAGA path to power.

So what has happened to the DNC?  One answer….MONEY.

The American Prospect‘s Micah Sifry reported that he obtained the closely guarded list from a “trusted source with long experience with the national party.”

“This person thinks it’s absurd that the party’s roster of voting members is secret,” Sifry wrote. “Indeed, since there is no official public list, each of the candidates running for chair and other positions has undoubtedly had to create their own tallies from scratch—making it very likely our list comes from a candidate’s whip operation.”

Based on the DNC’s public statements, it was known that the DNC has 448 active members who will decide on key leadership posts in the coming weeks. But the identities of the individuals were, until Friday, kept under wraps.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/dnc-membership-list

Then most recently there is the complete ignorance on the use of social media…..

None of these problems will be corrected in the near future…..or if ever.

The Dems have given lip service to many issues and delivered on very few….hence the voter has lost all confidence in the party and the next year or so will be very telling.

You tell me what happened to the Democratic Party.

The Legacy Of The War Party

The party that I am talking about is the democratic Party….in recent years it has become a neocon party of war policies.

I recently wrote a piece about the Biden legacy before the election…..

The Biden Legacy

The Party has proven that it is a pro-war party vote after vote in the Congress….and the legacy that it is leaving behind as it vacates the White House and Congress is strikingly horrible….

When a political party loses its legitimacy, its traditional priorities and moral compass, its candidates lose elections. Opting not to hold an open convention, which would have tested political viability, the DNC (acting on the President’s recommendation) invited Kamala Harris to replace Biden on the ticket.  For many Democrats, the lack of a competitive primary undermined the legitimacy of process.

In a misguided effort to attract anti-Trump Republicans, Harris  enlisted conservative Republican Liz Cheney  to join her on the campaign trail. This  strategy  failed.  The Republicans stuck with Trump or voted third party.  In the effort, Harris alienated many core supporters who saw her cave on such  issues as  fracking, immigration and health care.  Her policy backtracking was another blow to party legitimacy.

An even more delegitimizing strategy was to take for granted the support of working-class voters and labor unions. Both UAW President Shawn Fain and  Senator Bernie Sanders were noticeably absent from Harris’ campaign events, which included instead entertainment celebrities and Cheney.  Commenting on the election outcome, Bernie said it “should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.”

The possibly heaviest, blow to party legitimacy was the large defection of progressives and other Democrats who were horrified by the ongoing genocide in Gaza and by the continued transfer of U.S. weaponry to Israel for its wars in both Gaza and Lebanon. Harris lost the popular count by five million votes. At the same time, she finished 12 million votes below the 81.2 million votes Biden received in 2020. Where did those missing Democratic voters go?

https://www.counterpunch.org/2024/11/20/the-democratic-war-party-and-its-loss-of-legitimacy/

I have watched the party slide into the clutches of the defense industry (the war cartel) for the last decades, pretty much since 1992, and now it is the paid agent of the industry of war.

Sadly I do not foresee any changes on the horizon.

Thoughts?

Will Democrats Ever Learn?

My immediate answer is…..probably not.

Since the election of 2024 the Dems have been scratching their heads after having their asses handed to them…..I thought I would add more thoughts…..

I have been watching and participating in the American system for 50+ years and I have swings by the parties but then the Dems just rolled over and settled for the big donors to run the party.

After their loss in November I wrote about their quandary….

Still Scratching Their Heads

The ideas that they latched onto were not the ideas that the voter had in mind.

Why is that?

It appears that the voters were not buying the snake oil the Dems were selling.

The Dems failure ran across all generational voters….

Gen Z.
GOP: 80%
Dem: 48%
Other: 52%

Millennial
GOP: 83%
Dem: 57%
Other: 50%

Gen X
GOP: 90%
Dem: 73%
Other: 58%

Baby Boom
GOP: 90%
Dem: 78%
Other: 52%

Do you see the problem yet?

Apparently what the corruptible think we want to hear is not all that accurate….and now the Dems think they can change their tactics….I think it is a bit late….they should have thought along those lines in 1980.

What started the rapid decline of the Democrat Party was the election of Bubba Clinton in 1992…..he and his entourage decided that they would embrace high dollar donors….and ever since those days the Dems have had nothing in common with the people they pretend to speak for….the first thing they need to do (but will not happen in my lifetime because they worship the dollars thrown at them) is the rid the party of plutocratic politics.

Big money has always spoken with a loud voice in American politics, but the problem has gotten much worse in the neoliberal era that began in the 1970s. Abetted by the decline of labor unions and court decisions weakening restrictions on campaign spending, both political parties have become increasingly beholden to wealthy donors. The result has been particularly disastrous for the Democrats as they became a pale imitation of the Republicans—and suffered a steady erosion of support from working-class voters.

(thenation.com)

After many, many years working as an activist and labor organizer I saw stuff that the politicians and even the MSM have ignored.

These are a few things that the Dems should work into their ‘new’ approach….but will they attempt reform?

I do not foresee much success for the Dems….most are too addicted to the high dollars they get from the special interests….it will always be about the money…..not the people.
