In Alaska, Democrat former Rep. Mary Peltola led Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan by fewer than 700 votes Thursday morning with 70% of the vote in, according to Decision Desk; Peltola held 102,962 votes to the senator’s 102,325.
The so-called Decoy Dan, independent candidate Dan J. Sullivan, captured 3,600 votes, and another GOP candidate, Gerald L. Heikes, received 4,846 votes. Ahead of the election, The New York Times reported that Peltola campaign aides recruited Dan J. Sullivan to run in an attempt to appear on the ballot and dilute incumbent Dan S. Sullivan’s vote, although Peltola’s campaign denied the effort.
Trump on Thursday called for the race to be settled in favor of the incumbent GOP senator.
“The vote totals for the Fake Dan Sullivan, plus the other ‘slug’ that the Dems put on the Ballot, should be immediately given to the REAL Dan Sullivan, and the Election is over – He easily wins. There is no other fair solution!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

As of Thursday evening, Laubacher opened a wider lead from Boebert at 0.9 percent, according to NBC News. Colorado requires a mandatory recount if the race is within 0.5 percent.
There are an estimated 12,000 ballots left to count as of late Thursday evening. Most of those ballots are from Arapahoe County. Only 85 percent of the county’s votes are reported. Arapahoe County supported Laubacher overwhelmingly (60.9 percent) to Boebert’s 35.8 percent.

Republican lawmakers Keith Self and Tim Burchett have raised the possibility of preventing Democratic Socialists of America-backed candidates from taking the oath of office in January if they win in the midterm elections.
Self argued that candidates who support replacing the Constitution should not be allowed to swear allegiance to it, while Burchett specifically threatened to challenge New York candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier if she wins.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that the government cannot start any “construction-related activity” for 14 days, while further legal proceedings play out. In a 33-page ruling, Chutkan wrote that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed in showing the federal government did not follow required legal processes before moving to build the 250-foot triumphal arch. She also said Virginia and D.C. likely have standing to sue, pointing to “tangible economic harms” caused by traffic problems at the construction site
