Since the DSA has been having some success in the elections I have watched the predicted panic from the MAGA twats and also from Dems and most of the centrists (who pretend they are independent voters)….all this chaos these dweebs are creating is really amusing.
That Repub, ex-House member, Joe Scarborough, who has not been Donny’s biggest fan, has had his say about the ‘progressives’ success….
Joe Scarborough has managed to find some common ground with a man he frequently criticizes, President Trump. On Monday’s Morning Joe, Scarborough made the case that Democrats were embracing “extreme” positions on their left flank, reports Mediaite. The reference is to the success of social democrats in Democratic primaries, a group that Trump has taken to calling “communists.” “I mean, there have been some extraordinarily loony ideas coming from some,” said Scarborough. “Some of these people have actually won races and are going to be seated in Congress, most likely. Like, you know, getting rid of prisons, getting rid of cops, that didn’t work well for Democrats before, didn’t work well for American cities, either.”
His comments came in a discussion with Ed Luce of the Financial Times, who wrote a column suggesting that the Democratic Socialists of America “comes across as anti-American, which does not play well in the heartlands.” Both say that the DSA’s recent wins are clustered in safe, highly educated districts, not among the working-class voters Democrats need. Scarborough likened the moment to the 2020 primary, saying progressive contenders performed well early, but Joe Biden’s centrist stance ultimately prevailed—and predicted a similar clash of visions in the party’s next presidential contest.
His ingrained BS from being a GOP toadie is started to show again….get rid of cops, nowhere did I see that as a policy….I did see defund the police and take away that military air about them and let them go back to serving the community not the M-IC….plus Joe said that lack of police did not work well for cities….and which American cities would that be?
Hey Joe! Here is what the DSA platform says….
Demilitarize police departments, disempower police unions, and redirect funding to public services. Treat drug addiction and mental illness as health issues, not crimes. End qualified immunity and empower civilian oversight bodies with real authority over the police.
The platform does call for replacement of the police but they will be as popular as the Dems promise of health reform.
The platform also calls for Healthcare for all, housing reforms, tax reform, education reforms and the Green New Deal….none of it is anything a Repub or a Dem will support…that brings me to a question I often ask….If these ideas are not good then what does the Democratic Party stand for?
That little demented nazi, Miller, has lots to say about Dems….
White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller blasted the Democratic Party as “a party of freaks, weirdos, losers, and crazies,” warning that if they gain power, the “American people will lose everything.”
Let me ask just what has the American people, working people, got from this admin with all its morons? I may agree with him if he is speakjing of the centrists….but anyone else and he is full of shit.
That is not something new for me for I wrote about it 10 years ago…..
There was NO answer ten years ago and that trend continues for there is NO answer today.
There are the obvious answers….they are for greed, corruption and wasteful government….but those are feelings not real answers….then what is the long overdue answer?
Will these few upcoming elections answer the question.
I think not.
I Read, I Write, You Know
“lego ergo scribo”
Pro-establishment pundits like Scarborough always resort to distraction and demonization of the political left because they can’t debate the issues of economic populism honestly and directly. In fact, what’s driving the socialist movement in America is also evident across the political spectrum. Americans are increasingly becoming anti-establishment and anti-elitist, and majorities of both political analysts and sociologists openly share this opinion. It is also a worldwide phenomenon.
I remember Joe when he was a Rep. from Florida Panhandle…..was not a nice politician then and he has not aged well. chuq
I am still getting the uneasy feeling that all of this is building up to mass arrests of anyone remotely left-wing who can be described by Trump and his cronies as a ‘Communist’. Then followed by curbs on voting, free speech, and press freedoms in the name of ‘National Security’.
Best wishes, Pete.
I agree it is starting to smell like bad herring….chuq
Francesca Hong is running as a Dem but she’s a member of the democratic socialist caucus in the state legislature, and she’s still the front runner in the dem primary here. The dem candidates had their debate last night and it was about as uneventful and pleasant as you could imagine. She might be DS but her platform is about as mainstream vanilla democratic as you can imagine. Most people I’ve talked to about her think she’s representing what the democratic party should have been all along instead of what it has become, which is little more than “GOP Lite”.
It was actually a very pleasant event with everyone talking about policies and goals and almost all of them agreeing on most of the key points. The only really nasty note was Barnes attacking Crowley, a tactic that I think did not win him any points.
No screaming, no conspiracy theories, no claims that opponents were “demons”, “spawn of Satan” or pedophiles. It was refreshing, actually.
I agree with the “GOP lite” thing…..I would vote for her just because she talks about policies and not the crap others think are important…..chuq
Fortunately, the words “communist” and “communism” have little to no meaning to today’s generation. Unfortunately, the voters that take things seriously (and support Trump) are in the older generation and DO remember the concern of communism.
Even then the lies were prolific……chuq
