And The Hits Just Keep Coming

After last week’s thriller in the ballot box……DSA has done an excellent job of defining what is wrong and what needs to be done…..and the corporate Dems are freaking and issuing warnings to the voter….

Add Pod Save America co-host and former Obama official Dan Pfeiffer to the list of those warning mainstream Democrats about a surge from the left. On the podcast, the former Obama communications director framed a string of progressive primary wins—from New York to Maine to California—as a “giant warning sign” for the party establishment, reports Mediaite. Candidates from groups on the party’s left flank are outworking and out-maneuvering more traditional candidates, “and if you are someone in the Democratic establishment, you should be deeply concerned about what this says about where the party is, what the standing of the party is, what the ability of the party infrastructure actually is to win elections,” said Pfeiffer. “So this is a big deal.”

The issue continues to generate conversation in political circles:

  • The next big test is Tuesday in Colorado, reports CNN. Melat Kiros, a 29-year-old democratic socialist and attorney, is challenging longtime Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette for a reliably blue seat in Denver. “I think voters have realized that the party and leadership are failing to meet this moment in a meaningful way, and it’s time for leaders who are actually going to be fighting for the interests of working people,” she tells the outlet.
  • Over the weekend, New York City Mayor framed the wins of three democratic socialists in congressional primaries there as a “national message” about how ordinary Americans are getting worn down by higher costs.
  • Last week, 15 House Democratic centrists fired back, issuing a public letter asserting that “we are capitalist, not socialist,” per the New York Times.
  • In his critique, Pfeiffer added that, at this point, an endorsement from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer or House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries might hurt more than help a Democratic candidate.
  • President Trump is rolling out a midterm message for Republicans that “communists” are taking over the Democratic Party, per Axios. He’s going after the likely next mayor of DC, Janeese Lewis George, in particular, notes the Hill.

These warnings are so much crap uttered by the high dollar Dems and their handlers….they are no better than the conservs that keep lying trying to hold off the inevitable.

I say go for it….the Progressives need to take to the party proper and show them for the cowards they are.

  1. Bought and paid for Zionist-friendly Dems terrified of the progressives and shaking the tree. Let’s hope that they have a fight on their hands.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. My fear is that this will fizzle by 2028 vote….then we will lose again Did you see what Fetterman had to say about Israel? Fetterman replied, “If you have such contempt for Israel, I mean, of course, you’re also anti-American and you’re anti-Western civilization. And you’re anti-capitalism and the American way of life. Now, I mean, they’re all socialists, of course. Now there’s communists and now Marxists and now they’re proud of this.”……we know who pays his salary and who he works for, huh? chuq

  2. As I walked through the cemetery looking for my son’s gravestone, it came to me, “None of this shit that is happening means a damned thing because when we are dead and buried, it will not bother us anymore…so screw it.”

  3. They keep ignoring the fact that they have become so out of touch with reality that they no longer represent the people who elected them and we aren’t going to put up with their slimey BS and hypocrisy any longer.

  4. Populist anger towards Israel and towards the filthy rich in America will not subside any time soon because there will be no attempt by the establishment to address the underlying causes. Even political strategists admit that. Angst on the Left took much longer to develop than on the Right because Democratic voters were very slow to realize that they were being betrayed by their political party.

That said, the practicalities of taking over the Democratic Party will be much more challenging for progressives and democratic socialists than it had been for the far right of the Republican Party. The MAGA movement was strongly unified by its cultural ideology (i.e. white Christian nationalism) which began to purge centrists from the GOP in the 1990s with the Gingrich Revolution. Progressives and democratic socialists are not culturally unified, they are issue-oriented which leaves a lot of room for differing opinions.

Perhaps a better long-term strategy for the Left would be to win enough seats to weaken the Democratic Party establishment and force it into making a pivotal strategic decision – that is, to break with its base or to embrace it. Whether the Left forms a new party or has more control over the current one means more political representation for them. But, I am unsure. I’m just speculating.

    1. THat is what they should have been doing since 1980….working to elect progressives statewide. I think there is common ground but it will take a conversation and a plan. chuq
