More Wall Stuff!

There has been lots of back and forth around the Trump promise of a wall on our Southern border…it is gonna be expensive….Mexico will not pay for it…and the government could do what it does best….steal land from the people.

Rumors are that to pay for this abortion then the budget for the Coast Guard and TSA will be smaller….

Texas landowners along the U.S.-Mexico border have begun receiving notices from the federal government saying that they’re coming to either buy, or take, parcels of land for Trump’s pointless border wall. According to the Texas Observer, landowners are receiving “Declarations of Taking” notices that offer a price for the piece that the government wants. If the landowners refuse that, then they may see those parts of their property taken via eminent domain.

One landowner, Yvette Salinas, got her notice back in January. She’d been dreading it for a while because of George W. Bush’s focus on a border fence. Under Obama, she’d been able to relax a bit because he focused on patrolling and monitoring the border in ways that didn’t include taking land and building a wall.

So Mr. Trump you will steal from the people to get your way?  Then sir you are a true Republican.  I guess in hindsight it would be cheaper to just steal the property than buy it…..

I find it amazing that a party, the GOP, of limited government has no problem using it to get their way…..like most Repubs hypocrisy rules.

The wall will make the US a more secure nation, right?

Did  mention that we, this country, have water on 3 sides?  And a lower budget for the Coast Guard that protects our watery borders makes good sense (sarcasm)….

What Price The Wall?

WE all have heard the grand scheme to protect the homeland from the invasion of the “benefits” snatchers….that scheme would be that all impressive WALL.

The big question is where will we cough up the cash to pay for this monstrosity without raising taxes?  Or just how will this effect the security of the homeland?

According to the “fat man in the bathtub” this, the Wall, will go a long way to protecting the nation from the influx of those rabid bad guys waiting at the border to come flooding in to cause chaos and mayhem….

First, you mental midgets that think this is a good idea do realize that this country has water on 3 sides, right?

Personally, I think that the Wall is a dumb idea from the inception….great slogan but has little practical application.

Then I saw a report on one way being considered to help pay for this abortion….

The Trump administration, searching for money to build the president’s planned multibillion-dollar border wall and crack down on illegal immigration, is weighing significant cuts to the Coast Guard, the Transportation Security Administration and other agencies focused on national security threats, according to a draft plan.

The proposal, drawn up by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), also would slash the budget of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which provides disaster relief after hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural disasters. The Coast Guard’s $9.1 billion budget in 2017 would be cut 14 percent to about $7.8 billion, while the TSA and FEMA budgets would be reduced about 11 percent each to $4.5 billion and $3.6 billion, respectively.

Budget cuts for Coast Guard and TSA….entry points far greater than that damn land bridge that you are so concerned about.

There is already a push back against this sort of “solution”…..

House Republicans and the nation’s largest association of retired military officers have called on the Trump administration to scrap a reported plan for a major cut in the Coast Guard budget, in part to pay for the proposed wall on the Mexican border.

“We cannot defend our homeland and continue critical security missions without the U.S. Coast Guard. It is as simple as that,” Rep. Frank LoBiondo, a New Jersey Republican and member of the House Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee, said in a statement.

“Whomever is advising President Trump that the service could do more with even less is detached from the facts and reality on the ground,” he said.

I realize that it is early in the process but to consider this line of thought is truly moronic….but what can we expect from a group that has NO idea what they are doing?

Guess that check from Mexico bounced, eh?

For over a year now there has been much to do about walls……in presidential politics and even in the magic of cinema…..so I thought I would do what I always do…..give a historical look at “walls”…….

From the Great Wall of China to Hadrian’s Wall to the New Amsterdam Wall on Wall Street to the Wall defended by Castle Black, walls have a long-standing place in history and pop culture to defend people. But they’re sites of complex interactions, too

Building walls is far from a revolutionary idea. We’ve been building them since ancient times. And they have largely been intended to serve the same purpose: to keep people out (and sometimes in) and define national borders.

The “Wall” Of Today

I was wondering how long it would take to back peddle from one of Trump’s biggest applause and chants….”Build the wall”….”Build the wall”……”and make Mexico pay for it”…..thunderous applause and minutes of delirious chanting……

I did not have to wait very long….it did not make it to 20Jan17 and the official start of the Trump presidency……

Donald Trump is apparently keeping his promise to build a “big, beautiful wall” on the border with Mexico, but dropping the part about making Mexico pay for it. Insiders tell Politico that Trump’s transition team is working with Republican leaders on a plan to sidestep the need for new legislation by asking Congress to fund the wall under a George W. Bush-era law authorizing 700 miles of “physical barrier.” The sources say Republicans are considering adding wall funding to a spending bill that must pass by the end of April. They believe Democrats are unlikely to threaten a government shutdown to fight the move—especially since President Obama and Hillary Clinton were among the senators that voted in favor of the 2006 law.

GOP lawmakers declined to confirm to CNN whether Trump is planning to use taxpayer dollars to build he wall, but Trump himself had a response to the story. “The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!” he tweeted Friday morning. Reuters reports that a sheriff in Massachusetts has suggested using prison inmates from around the country to build the wall. “I can think of no other project that would have such a positive impact on our inmates and our country than building this wall,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, a Republican, said at his swearing-in ceremony this week.

The question is…will he build this wall?  Does anyone think this will truly stop the flow of immigrants leaving the country?

And will Mexico cave and without protests pay for something the US builds?

Immigration: The Cause

I figured I would get some Right wingers by the title alone…..I have tried to explain what is happening on the border in this go-round…..of course few want to know what is really happening for it is so much easier to say…”It’s Obama’s Fault”……..or to make up whatever scenario fits your intelligence level…….but the law is a lot easier than some would have us believe……

In the past I have not been really kind to the prez….but that is his problem not mine…….but this current border problem is not of his making…..one more time….a bit slower for those that don’t read so well……..

Conservatives like Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin have alleged that President Obama’s “lawlessness”—in the form of his jury-rigged de facto Dream Act implementation—is to blame for the children currently swarming across the border. But the truth is “that this crisis has actually been brought about by Obama following the law,” points out Dana Milbank at the Washington Post. Indeed several columnists today are focusing on the impact of an obscure 2008 human trafficking law that passed both houses by unanimous consent and was signed by George W. Bush. Here’s what they’re saying:

  • The law guarantees child immigrants a hearing, allowing them to stay with family in the US in the meantime. The process can take 18 months, and most children simply don’t show up for their hearings when the time comes.
  • The law was a well-intentioned attempt to fight sex-trafficking, but it’s “mutated into a source of chaos,” writes Charles Lane at the Washington Post. Trafficking mafias are getting rich on it and an unforeseen wave of Central American immigrants are crowding detention centers. Children wind up growing up undocumented and living in the shadows. “This isn’t anyone’s idea of sustainable immigration … Some call the situation a humanitarian crisis. I prefer ‘national scandal.'”
  • Lane prefers amending the law to exclude unaccompanied Central American minors, so there’s no incentive to send them. But Charles Blow at the New York Times rejects that, saying that the premise of the law is “noble and humane.” “These are children we are talking about, not just numbers, not just data, not political pawns.”
  • This is the fundamental problem; everyone agrees our immigration laws are out of date and broken, but not on how to fix them, observes Rob Hunter at KTAR. He advises lawmakers to remember what John F. Kennedy said: “There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.”

Let’s be honest….it takes courage to find a solution to the immigration problem…..and we have NO one with that amount of courage……what we have is a plethora of cowards.

Militias And The Border

Run for the border….not a Taco Bell ad but rather people fleeing all sorts of violence and danger……sorry but I cannot see what all the whoopla is about……people come and people go……..but thanx to morons in the militias it is turning into hate and it is turning into a racist situation…….(I have an op-ed piece later about my encounter with a militia type….please check it out)………

We have many small children heading to the border looking for a better life….contrary to what the morons in Right wing radio would have you believe…..and then I read this piece…….in Raw Story…….

A militia group is calling on supporters to patrol the Texas-Mexico border to guard against drug gangs and illegal immigrants.

The citizen militia operation, called “Secure Our Border – Laredo,” is urging members to voluntarily guard private property near the border town along the Rio Grande, where some residents have felt threatened by drug cartels and other gangs.

Conservative publications have warned that a recent surge in undocumented children and other immigrants has carried infectious disease across the border and poses an existential threat to the U.S.

A spokeswoman for the militia group told the Brownsville Herald that members would not engage in violence, and the group’s leader – who calls himself Commander Chris “Threepercenter” Davis – has cautioned against violent actions or racist comments.

“This is not a ‘go-in-guns-blazing’ kind of thing,” said spokeswoman Denice Freeman. “This will be handled with the utmost professionalism and security and safety for everyone involved.”

But a 21-minute video that was apparently posted June 14 by Davis encourages militia members to threaten suspected illegal immigrants to secure the border.

“You see an illegal,” Davis says in the video. “You point your gun dead at him, right between his eyes, and you say, ‘Get back across the border or you will be shot.’”

He also urged militia members to “start the next 1776 right there on the border” if they were confronted by law enforcement authorities.

“It is time that we start taking back our national sovereignty,” Davis says.

I have a hard time with vigilante justice……..I have a hard time with twats that want to play army but are too much a coward to join the military……I have a hard time when Americans start acting like the “Brown Shirts” from Nazi Germany…….

Immigration: Drama For Obama

Let me begin by saying of the GOP on immigration……everything out of their mouths and I mean all of them is disingenuous bullshit!

At what point do we as a country get back to policy making?  As it is now we fluctuate from a scandal to scandal….policy is a useless endeavor for our politicians….they had rather spend their time making up falsehoods and accusations…….

It seems that they are about to have a stroke over the children that are coming to America looking for a better life……..they would rather demonize children than find a cure for the problem……it is the cowards way of doing things……..but guess what you twats…….Bush is the reason for the actions being taken by the Obama admin…………

It was one of the final pieces of legislation signed into law by President George W. Bush, a measure that passed without controversy, along with a pension bill and another one calling for national parks to be commemorated on quarters.

“This is a piece of legislation we’re very proud to sign,” a White House spokesman, Tony Fratto, told reporters on Dec. 23, 2008, as the president put his pen to the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, named for a 19th-century British abolitionist. “This program has been very effective around the world in trying to stop trafficking in persons.”

Originally pushed by a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers as well as by evangelical groups to combat sex trafficking, the bill gave substantial new protections to children entering the country alone who were not from Mexico or Canada by prohibiting them from being quickly sent back to their country of origin.

Instead, it required that they be given an opportunity to appear at an immigration hearing and consult with an advocate, and it recommended that they have access to counsel. It also required that they be turned over to the care of the Department of Health and Human Services, and the agency was directed to place the minor “in the least restrictive setting that is in the best interest of the child” and to explore reuniting those children with family members.

This constant condemning by the Right of Obama and his actions is silly….no pathetic……it was the hero of the hour GW that gave the government the law that must be followed…..now what would these semi-literate pricks have to say if Obama ignored the law and did what he wanted?

Maybe this problem could be solved if the pathetic GOP would stop using every incident as a political tool and a fundraising tool……just a thought.
