A Democratic Mandate

A few days after it was apparent that Biden had won the 2020 election all the pundits were clamoring about a Dem mandate and that the country could go about healing from the Trump years.

Personally I think it was BS I did not believe the prediction and still think it was nothing more than a vote against Trump not that the country was ready for a change.

The questions that arise now are simple enough: what caused Trump to lose the election, and to what extent did Americans vote for Biden, as opposed to voting against Trump? Answers to these questions emerge from a careful examination of pre-election polling and Edison’s national exit polling, the latter of which surveyed both in-person and mail-in/absentee voters to collect information on voters’ demographic backgrounds and their political and economic motivations. What we find is that mass anger at racial injustice, the disaster of Covid-19, and the depressed economy that accompanied it, were all chief difference makers in the election outcome.

Election 2020: a Democratic Mandate or a Vote Against Trump?

The closing days of the campaign the polls were showing that Biden had  a large lead over Trump in most states….and yet when the counting is done it is about the same as usual….candidates in about n5% of each other…..

So the polls were massively wrong yet again.

Again these so-called “momentary looks” at the election cycle…are made up crap to drive the news reporting not an accurate look at the campaign.

And millions are spent trying to convince the viewers of whatever paradigm they are pushing……

My thought is there is NO mandate…..and unless the Dems change their path they will go down in defeat in 2022 and in 2024…..

Bookmark this post and check me to see if I have indeed predicted the election outcome in the next two votes.

Sadly this nation is in poor shape and I do not think that it can be healed in 4 years….if not then we can start this silly cycle all over again….unfortunately Biden is doing very little to change this country for the better…..

Today, after a contentious election and with the results of the presidential race still uncertain, we are all now looking down at the ground. It’s been four years since Donald Trump dropped the buttered toast of our democracy onto the floor.

After four years face down in the dirt, can our democracy be picked up, dusted off, and restored to some semblance of integrity?

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/11/04/us-democracy-four-year-rule

I know…I know….we got that idiot out of the White House…..great….but what will the new guy bring to the country?

So far I see NOTHING new and appears he is trying to remake the Obama years with his personnel….Under Biden we’re set to experience four years (if he lasts that long) of negative creep, a steady recrudescence of the same policies–economic, social, environmental and military–which led us to into the very quagmire where nearly all of us are now inexorably sinking.

Biden is a politician who is unlikely to disappoint his followers for the simple reason that he has few truly devoted adherents and offers them little of substance. Mostly, he delivers on small things, tiny symbolic acts that serve to mask the broader betrayals of movements and aspirations he claimed to represent but never had any real interest in. Unlike Obama, idealism was never Biden’s calling card. His entire career he has sold a brutal brand of pragmatism behind a dental implant smile.

I agree it is early….but the outlook gets dimmer by the day…and we still over a  month from the new dude taking the oath.

What About Those Electoral College Votes?

The finally tally was Biden with 302 votes and Trump with 232….but it will not be official until today and then on 06 January……let me explain….

Today the tally will be certified and prepared to go to the Congress in January…..

Monday is a significant day in the US on two fronts: Not only do COVID vaccinations begin but the electoral college meets. The latter is the next big step in the selection of the president, and one with added significance in 2020 because of President Trump’s continuing challenge of the results, notes the Wall Street Journal. However, when all is said and done on Monday, Joe Biden is expected to formally receive 306 votes and Trump 232. That sets the stage for the next important date: Jan 6., when the votes cast on Monday will be counted in a joint session of Congress over which Vice President Pence will preside, per the AP.

Electors will meet in their own states and in the District of Colombia to cast their paper ballots, with the first sessions beginning at 10 Eastern, reports USA Today. Biden is expected to address the nation in the evening when the process is complete. Some states allow “faithless” electors to cast ballots for a candidate not chosen by the voters, but the AP doesn’t expect any such defections this year.

What are the chances that some of these idiots will try something to prevent the tally from becoming official….sealing Biden’s election as law?

Any thoughts?

Art Of The Steal

A take-off of the silly book written by our ‘president’, The Art Of The Deal….even after Biden has been certified as the winner Trump continues to fight to throw out the vote in many states because he lost.

In an extraordinary scene of political warfare, a total of 44 of the 50 states have filed briefs with the US Supreme Court arguing for and against honoring the results of the 2020 presidential election won by Democrat Joe Biden over President Donald Trump. Only six states did not file briefs by the 3 p.m. Thursday deadline set by the high court.

The state of Texas filed the first brief Monday, directed against four “battleground” states won by Biden over Trump: Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The brief asked the Supreme Court to overturn the results of the vote in those four states and to refer the appointment of electors to the state legislatures, which are Republican-controlled in each state.

AS I wrote…Trump’s Art of the Steal……..

The shock of defeat appears to have dimmed some of the golden boy’s luster as well as whitened his faux blond hair and lightened his spray-on tan. Still, not only has Trump not conceded, he has, at current count, mounted over thirty-eight unsuccessful lawsuits to overturn the election or, at best, stall his ouster from office. Undaunted, the self-avowed stable genius’s latest Wile E. Coyote move has been to pressure Republican state legislators to choose pro-Trump electors when the Electoral College convenes this month. Having apparently failed at that, his only hope now is a Supreme Court Hail Mary. It doesn’t matter that he may fail; it’s the smoke, mirrors, and gaslight that ultimately count. None of this suggests that Trump is even remotely entertaining conceding.

In fact, it’s highly likely Trump will never concede, despite media speculation that his reticence is actually yet another of his three-dimensional chess gambits, the current one, according to some pundits, designed to make possible his own Murdock-like media empire to sustain his brand until he (or one of his felonious spawn) runs again in 2024. All this Occam razor-rejecting media confabulation refuses to accept the simple fact that toddler Trump is throwing a tantrum and that the true intent of his intransigence is to remain in power by any means necessary.

Grab ’Em by the Ballot: The Art of the Steal

I do not think his attempts will be successful….but I do think he is setting the stage for 2022 and 2024.

I like this Tweet as well….

Read the rationale of this proposal…..https://www.rawstory.com/2020/12/democrat-wants-to-use-civil-war-law-about-traitors-to-ban-126-republicans-from-being-seated-in-congress/

I say use it!  If they cannot defend the US from enemies domestic or foreign then they should not be allowed to take the oath of office.  PERIOD!

To be fair…my representative Steven Palazzo is one of the signers….(more about him later today)…..another gutless GOP toad….and the sooner the people of my area realize what a d/bag he is the sooner we can eliminate him.

Looks like the Supreme Court is not having any of the silly Trump games…..

The Supreme Court on Friday afternoon rejected a lawsuit backed by President Trump to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory. The decision ends a desperate attempt to get legal issues rejected by state and federal judges before the nation’s highest court, the AP reports. The court’s order was its second this week rebuffing Republican requests that it become involved in the 2020 election outcome. The justices turned away an appeal from Pennsylvania Republicans on Tuesday. The Electoral College meets Monday to formally elect Biden as the next president.

Per Axios, the court wrote: “The State of Texas’s motion for leave to file a bill of complaint is denied for lack of standing under Article III of the Constitution. Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot.”

Then there is not moron of the GOP, Alan West, the GOP Chair from Texas……

126 GOP House members and 17 other state attorneys general was rebuffed by the nation’s highest court, Texas GOP Chair Allen West, a retired US Army lieutenant colonel and former congressman, issued a statement noting his displeasure, and offering an eyebrow-raising suggestion, per CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. “This decision will have far-reaching ramifications for the future of our constitutional republic,” West said. “Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution.” West’s remarks brought swift backlash from both sides of the aisle, per the Hill.

“I believe @TexasGOP should immediately retract this, apologize, and fire Allen West and anyone else associated with this,” Illinois GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger tweeted. Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii added, “They have lost their minds. … These people are deadly serious about secession and sedition.” Also disappointed in the Supreme Court’s rebuff: President Trump, who was said to have nixed an appearance at a White House holiday party Friday night, per the New York Times. Later that evening, he tweeted, “The Supreme Court really let us down. No Wisdom, No Courage!” He continued mulling over the situation well past midnight, adding his final thoughts on the matter: “It is a legal disgrace, an embarrassment to the USA!!!” Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani appeared on Newsmax Friday night, vowing the fight isn’t over. “We’re not finished, believe me,” Giuliani said, per the Times. The Electoral College is set to formally elect Biden as the next president on Monday.

I believe that Alan West has earned his new pair of Trump knee pads for this Christmas.

How About That ‘Green New Deal’?

I have writing about the offering of them Progressive Dems and trying to educate my readers o9n what is what with this proposal……https://lobotero.com/2018/12/06/the-green-new-deal/

Now that we have a new president and maybe a way forward with this proposal…..but first….99% of the Progressive co-sponsors of the Green New Deal won their re-election…..

Shedding more light on a significant electoral trend that progressives have drawn attention to in the aftermath of the 2020 U.S. election, a new analysis by Earther found that of the 93 House co-sponsors of the Green New Deal resolution who ran for reelection this year, only one lost their congressional race.

“Simply put,” wrote journalist Brian Kahn in Earther, “the Green New Deal is not a political loser,” including for representatives in swing districts.

Kahn identified four House co-sponsors who represent districts that “range from very slightly Democratic to moderately Republican,” according to Cook Political Report’s Partisan Voting Index

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/11/09/99-green-new-deal-co-sponsors-won-their-races-cycle-analysis…but for more in-depth look at those races and people…..https://earther.gizmodo.com/the-green-new-deal-didnt-sink-democrats-1845619942

To put this all simply….the Green New Deal is not the political loser that Centrist Dems and the GOP would have you believe…..but will it ever see the light of day with a Biden presidency….not likely!

While the president-elect, Joe Biden is a Centrist and in my mind a coward…there are a few things he could do to help our climate problems….just 10 things offered up by Naomi Klein…..

  • Declare a national climate emergency under the National Emergencies Act, which would “unlock specific statutory powers to help accomplish the necessary response.” Biden would be able to direct federal agencies to reverse all of President Donald Trump’s regulatory rollbacks.
  • Keep fossil fuels in the ground, halting fossil fuel permits and lease sales, banning fracking on federal lands, and issuing stringent pollution rules for oil and gas companies.
  • Stop fossil fuel exports and infrastructure approvals through executive orders.
  • Shift financial flows from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources through an executive order that would promote new investments and phase out old ones.
  • Using the Clean Air Act, set a science-based national pollution cap.
  • Power the electricity sector with 100% clean and renewable energy by 2030. Pursuant to the National Emergencies Act, Biden could direct the secretary of defense to redirect a portion of military spending to carry out a rapid construction program of renewable energy projects to meet a significant portion of the nation’s power needs. The president-elect could also provide loan guarantees to clean energy developers and utilities that use renewable energy.
  • Issue an executive order creating an inter-agency just transition task force to implement a national program guaranteeing support for communities and workers affected by the halting of fossil fuel extraction.
  • Direct federal agencies assess and mitigate environmental harms that disproportionately impact Indigenous, Black, brown, and low-income communities.
  • Investigate and prosecute fossil fuel polluters and commit to vetoing all legislation that grants legal immunity to big polluters.
  • Rejoin the Paris climate agreement and increase the United States’ emissions reduction commitment to slash greenhouse gas emissions below 2005 levels by at least 70% by 2030 and reduce them to near zero by 2040.

Sore Losers

The analysis of the 2020 election is still going on…..and on…..

By now most everyone knows Biden won the election and by now we all know that Trump is being a dick by refusing to accept that he lost the election.

He may leave the White House but I doubt that he will ever admit that he lost the election because he was a terrible president.

First of all was the election of 2020 some sort of a mandate or just a ‘vote against Trump’?

My thought is that it was the later….there is NO Dem mandate….but others thoughts…..

Every election year is accompanied by countless analyses of why Americans voted the way they did. The 2020 election is no different. Liberal and Democratic Americans who were hoping for an overwhelming victory for Joe Biden were disappointed, although the Democratic candidate did defeat a sitting president by nearly 6 million votes. This is itself noteworthy considering how infrequently incumbent presidential candidates lose reelection in the post-World War II era.

Now that I made that point…..the real reason for this post is to look back into history and see about the sore losers of the past…..

Trump isn’t the first sore loser in history. Many of them have whined their way into obscurity, but others have been able to do real damage. Driven by ego and resentment, some sore losers have engaged in the personal destruction of their opponents, their parties, or even their countries. A look back provides a sober counterpoint to the shrugs with which we might otherwise greet Trump’s tantrums.

Nothing Changes With Democrats

The world owes Donald Trump thanks. But for him, our next president would be Donald Trump, and “moderate” Democrats – spineless defenders of the pre-Trumpian status quo and of the interests of the kinder-gentler wing of the ruling class — would have done even more harm than they did.

Needless to say, this is not how liberal media see it. As soon as the election was called, they went on the offense. Within a day or two, watching MSNBC and CNN became unbearable, worse even than listening to NPR or reading the drivel of most New York Times and Washington Post columnists.

Stephanie Rule, Claire McCaskill, Dana Bush and a few others were among the first to go on the attack, but within hours and with very few exceptions, they all followed suit – blaming not themselves and their politics, but the politics of leftists within the Democratic fold for the fact that the “blue tsunami” they were all expecting failed to materialize.

Damn Moderates

As I type the Dem candidate, Joe Biden, is winning the presidency….but to be fair it is not over yet……that is not over in Trump’s tiny mind…..

The Dems have proven that they remain spineless after 50 years of snuggling up to corporate cash…..gutless and spineless to the end.

The Dems are once again looking for someone to blame because they lost some seats……like in 2016 it was my fault because I voted Green that Hillary lost…..not that she was a horrible candidate that had NO feel for the voter just a sense of entitlement…like her crooked husband.

The public overwhelmingly supports Medicare For All…..the Green New Deal….Minimum wage increase…..etc etc…..even FOX News is reporting that …..Election Day exit polling showing that 72% of voters favor transitioning to a “government-run healthcare plan.”

That is Progressive and yet the Centrist keep trying keep the health industry in the loop and profitable.  Once again these Centrist illustrate why Hillary lost and why they are becoming a political dinosaur that is due for extinction.

But the Centrists are whining and blaming….

In a heated caucus-wide conference call on Thursday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other centrist Democrats in the U.S. House reportedly blamed lost congressional seats on the redistributive agenda advanced by the party’s progressive members, with Majority Whip James Clyburn warning that running on “socialized medicine” will result in losing the two runoff races in Georgia that could give the party a Senate majority.

“Polls consistently show a majority of the U.S. electorate [is] considerably to the left of both party leaderships… on issue after issue—the environment, electoral reform, [and] Medicare for All,” said Jacobin’s Luke Savage, less than 72 hours before the Democratic Party establishment recycled its attacks on popular progressive policies following a underwhelming showing at the ballot box.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/11/06/centrist-house-democrats-attack-medicare-all-fox-news-poll-shows-72-voters-want

The Progressives in the House are pushing back on the attacks from the do-nothing Centrists…..

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not directly address comments made in Thursday evening’s House Democratic caucus call on Friday, but in an extensive Twitter thread the congresswoman discussed multiple reasons for rejecting centrist Democrats’ claims that the embrace of progressive policies led to lackluster election results for the party.

Support for broadly popular policies like the Green New Deal and Medicare for All and relentless canvassing by progressives in the House—even when Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign declined to campaign in key states—were among the factors which helped unapologetic progressives win elections this year, the New York Democrat tweeted, while centrist candidates lost or came close to losing.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/11/06/ocasio-cortez-dismisses-centrist-attempts-blame-left-dem-losses-calling-party-listen

This is why I like these Reps…they do not mince words and go to the heart of the problems.

Keep in mind that Progressives worked hard for Biden and if he does what I think he will and turn his back on them then they will make them, Centrists,  pay in 2022 and 2024.

The evident defeat of Donald Trump would not have been possible without the grassroots activism and hard work of countless progressives. Now, on vital issues—climate, healthcare, income inequality, militarism, the prison-industrial complex, corporate power and so much more—it’s time to engage with the battle that must happen inside the Democratic Party.

The realpolitik rationales for the left to make nice with the incoming Democratic president are bogus. All too many progressives gave the benefit of doubts to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, making it easier for them to service corporate America while leaving working-class Americans in the lurch. Two years later, in 1994 and 2010, Republicans came roaring back and took control of Congress.

From the outset, progressive organizations and individuals (whether they consider themselves to be “activists” or not) should confront Biden and other elected Democrats about profound matters. Officeholders are supposed to work for the public interest. And if they’re serving Wall Street instead of Main Street, we should show that we’re ready, willing and able to “primary” them.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/11/06/progressives-made-trumps-defeat-possible-now-its-time-challenge-biden-and-other

Centrists are pussies that have their corporate handlers best interest at heart not the people of this nation….and yet they blame everybody but themselves for their poor showings at the polls.

As usual Dems were cocky and overconfident and blew their advantage by embracing the wrong policies……by basically shrugged off all policies with the exception of “Beat Trump”……they, Centrist, need a message….something they have not had for decades…the Progressives have that message and maybe it is time to pull Centrists heads out of corporate asses and embrace some true issues.

A memo to the Democratic Party from four progressive organizations outlines how through a number of unforced errors in an attempt to appeal to conservatives and moderates rather than the more forward-looking Democratic base, the party allowed the loss of a number of congressional seats—and now risks further alienating the racial justice organizers and working-class voters who helped deliver President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

The memo (pdf) from Justice Democrats, the Sunrise Movement, New Deal Strategies, and Data for Progress comes a week after centrist Democrats including House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.), and Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Penn.) explicitly blamed progressive policy proposals such as Medicare for All, far-reaching police reform, and a fracking ban for congressional losses.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/11/11/memo-democrats-2020-elections-show-progressive-vision-not-centrist-restraint-winning

Since the Centrists will be in control we can look for NO progress on any issue that means anything to the nation.

Inherit The Wind!

That would be the economic wind…….

We have a new president and his biggest challenges will be foreign policy, pandemic and the economy.

Regardless how the stock markets do does not indication a strong economy…..just the monetary game the wealthy play…..but what about the US economy……what is the Biden admin looking at?

Policymakers cannot ignore the economic devastation happening to workers and their families across the country.

As the nation continues to be consumed with the election—which Joe Biden appears poised to win—millions of people across the country remain out of work. The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that 638,000 jobs were added in October, a continued slowdown in job growth. The U.S. economy is still down 10 million jobs from where it was in February, before the pandemic hit. Using average monthly job growth over the year ending February 2020 as the counterfactual, the jobs deficit is over 11.6 million. In other words, that’s 10.0 million fewer jobs we have than in February, plus nearly 1.6 million jobs we would have added if the recession hadn’t occurred.

Even without the 147,000 loss in temporary Census employment in October, the economy added only 785,000 jobs. At this pace, it will take years for the U.S. economy to fully recover. With long-term unemployment on the rise and little hope for additional relief, workers and their families do not have years to keep their heads above water. As the winter approaches and COVID-19 cases continue to rise, millions of people across the country will be left out in the cold. Unlike his predecessor, the incoming Biden administration will inherit a devastated labor market that will need considerable relief and stimulus—quickly.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/11/06/thanks-gop-next-president-inherits-devastated-economy-millions-out-work

Do not mistake the high markets with a booming economy….as I have already stated…it is just an indication of the games the wealthy play with our country.

But like ALL candidates Biden has a plan for the economy…..

The 77-year-old’s economic agenda is not as detailed as others and does not contain similar sweeping proposals, but his plan for the U.S. is still ambitious and represents more than a reassuring reset button for Americans rattled by Trump. He has also shown signs that he’s willing to pivot to the left to win over Sanders supporters. He proposed two new policies to “ease the economic burden on working people” a day after the democratic socialist dropped out of the race.

But just viable are Biden’s plans…..https://www.dw.com/en/joe-biden-economic-plan/a-55022468

Ambitious indeed….but little will ever see light of day.

The Violence Has Arrived

I have been reading several articles that predicts that Trump and his mouth and sycophants will make violence possible…..

Historians and other experts on Thursday warned that President Donald Trump’s attempt to remain in power despite his loss in the 2020 election is growing increasingly dangerous as Republican leaders willingly participate in the disenfranchisement of millions of voters and back the president’s refusal to accept the election results.

In an op-ed at The Hill, journalist Albert Hunt wrote that Trump’s “deceitful charge” that the Democratic Party stole the election and allowed “illegal votes” to be cast—claims that have yet to be backed up by evidence—”undermines confidence in our Democratic system, but it could also threaten to unleash a dangerous wave of violence.”

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/11/12/coup-underway-experts-warn-election-lies-trump-and-gop-leaders-could-unleash-violent

…….and so it has over the weekend….

Pro and Anti-Trump protesters met at the SCOTUS building in DC….

Several thousand supporters of President Trump in Washington protested election results and hailed Trump’s passing motorcade before nighttime clashes with counterdemonstrators sparked fistfights, at least one stabbing and at least 20 arrests. Several other cities on Saturday also saw gatherings of Trump supporters unwilling to accept Joe Biden’s Electoral College and popular vote victory. Cries of “Stop the Steal” and “Count Every Vote” continued in spite of a lack of evidence of voter fraud or other problems that could reverse the result. After night fell, the relatively peaceful demonstrations in Washington turned violent, reports the AP. Videos on social media showed fistfights, projectiles, and clubs as Trump supporters clashed with those demanding they take their MAGA hats and banners and leave. The tensions extended to Sunday morning. A variety of charges, including assault and weapons possession, were filed against those arrested, officials said. Two police officers were injured and several firearms were recovered by police.

Trump himself gave an approving nod Saturday morning by dispatching his motorcade through streets lined with supporters before rolling on to his Virginia golf club. People chanted “USA, USA” and “four more years,” and many carried American flags and signs to show their displeasure with the vote tally and insistence that, as Trump has baselessly asserted, fraud was the reason. “I just want to keep up his spirits and let him know we support him,” said one loyalist, Anthony Whittaker of Winchester, Va. The marchers included the Proud Boys. Trump supporters who approached the area were harassed, doused with water and saw their MAGA hats and pro-Trump flags snatched and burned, amid cheers. As night fell, multiple police lines kept the two sides apart. Videos showed some demonstrators and counterdemonstrators trading shoves, punches, and slaps. The “Million MAGA March” was heavily promoted on social media, raising concerns that it could spark conflict with anti-Trump demonstrators, who have gathered near the White House for weeks.

This was not as violent as it could have been …..especially with those hairy gun toters……will this be the extent of the violence or will it escalate?

Trump’s mouth could be the catalyst for either calm or violence.

Things could get worse before it gets better….

Whites make up around over 65 percent of the electorate of the US. Surveys show that 57 percent of white voters (56 percent women, 58 percent men) went for Trump, despite everything—his awful mismanagement of the pandemic, his lies, his anti-science attitude, his divisiveness, and his blatant pandering to white nationalist groups like the Nazis, Klan, and Proud Boys.

That is where the danger lies now: the fascist mobilization of a white population that is in relative decline numbers-wise.

History has shown that when large social groups no longer feel they can win by democratic elections, the temptation towards extra-parliamentary solutions becomes very tempting. As the aggregate minority population in the U.S. moves toward parity in numbers with the white population over the next few decades, white nationalism is likely to become more rather than less popular among whites of all ages and across gender lines.

Closing Thought–13Nov20

In 2010 when the idiot Pompeo came to Congress in the Tea Party wave I said then he was a warmongering toad that was not to be trusted…..and NO ONE listened…..

His latest piece of crap coming from his mouth proves my point….

When asked about the transition to the president-elect he stated…..

– No transition, no problem. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters Tuesday, when asked if his agency is ready to work with President-elect Joe Biden’s team on the transfer of power, “There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration.” Pompeo’s job is dealing with the governments of other nations, of course, and they’ve been congratulating Biden on his victory, Axios reports. Pompeo has not, supporting President Trump’s battle against the election results without specifically saying so. “The world is watching what’s taking place here,” Pompeo said. “We’re going to count all the votes. When the process is complete, there will be electors selected.” He said that he’s heard from countries around the world and that they “understand that this takes time.”

The secretary of state did not appreciate a question about whether US efforts on behalf of free and fair elections in other nations are hurt by Trump’s refusal to concede the US election. “That’s ridiculous,” Pompeo told the reporter, per Politico. “And you know it’s ridiculous.
