IST Saturday News Dump–20Jun26

Summer is taking hold down here high temps and humidity….when outside you break into a sweat by breathing.

Before we begin I would like to point out….

A basic burger ingredient now comes with a side of economic reality: a pound of standard ground beef increasingly costs more than an hour of work at the federal minimum wage. The average price of a pound of lean ground beef has hit $8.34, outpacing the nationwide wage floor of $7.25 that hasn’t moved since 2009, when ground beef was around $2.20 a pound, Money reports. The magazine’s review of seven major grocery chains found prices for 80/20 ground beef ranging from about $6.50 at Trader Joe’s and Aldi to nearly $9 per pound at Publix. Even the cheapest variety of ground beef now costs an average of more than $5.40 a pound, according to federal data released Friday.

That is a sad stat….

Local–It has been raining for 2 weeks and now our creeks and rivers are flooding….and when it is not raining the humidity is 96% and temps in the 100s…

Personal–A loyal follower, Doug, has passed away after a lengthy hospital stay….my thoughts go out to his family and his best friend, Andy.

Doug and Andy’s  Farewell…

Let us get this Saturday off with a bang….first of all the World Cup is in full swing and aliens will attack….

However, ahead of the highly anticipated cup, the world received some eerie news.

On June 2, Brazilian spiritualist Vo Bahiana – real name Elisângela de Souza – took to her Instagram to share a video detailing a vision that had visited her in a dream.

Bahiana told her 23 million Instagram followers she’d experienced a dream which warned extraterrestrial life would be arriving at the World Cup.

The self-professed psychic revealed the dream had seen a huge spacecraft carrying an influx of around 100 aliens descend on planet Earth.

And not just Earth, but specifically a field of one of the World Cup matches being held in Florida.

To make matters worse, Bahiana revealed the dream went on to detail hundreds of people being abducted by said aliens – including players, refs and spectators.

“[Translation] I was inside that ship. When the ship rose, the mothership arrived, a much larger ship, and took in thousands of people from the soccer field. I saw so much screaming, so much crying, so many tears, suffering,” she says in the video, as quoted by the Mail Online.

Sorry but the Cup is going strong and the alien BS is also going strong….just thought you guys might like to see the newest conspiracy.

As usual I read something about cancer research…..

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death around the world, affecting millions of people every year.

While scientists have long known that cancer develops when DNA inside cells becomes damaged, there has been an ongoing debate about how much of that damage comes from lifestyle choices and environmental exposures, and how much is simply a result of aging and natural processes within the body.

A new study from Yale University has provided fresh insight into this important question. The research helps explain why some cancers may be highly preventable while others appear to be largely driven by factors beyond a person’s control.

Scientists Find Big Causes of Most Cancers

Like something out of a scifi movie….keeping the brain alive…..

Several years ago, a team of researchers obtained numerous pig brains from a slaughterhouse and revived them off-site for experimentation purposes. That team has since moved up the food chain. Now it obtains human donors’ brains, restores their functions, and uses them to test experimental drugs.

Bexorg, a Connecticut-based biotech startup spun out of Yale University, boasts about having created a “platform that leverages the untouched potential of nature’s most complex and enduring mystery: the human brain.”

Whereas other researchers might be limited to experimenting on lab-grown, human pseudo-brains or cell cultures, the team at Bexorg meddles with “full mature, intact, and isolated brains for days on end” with the stated aim of advancing brain disease therapies.

Unlike the company’s slick pitch, the reality appears to be something of a horror show. After all, the over 700 brains that have been subjected to experimentation at Bexorg so far were apparently far from inert.

Speaking of Scifi….there is something in the fog…..

There’s something living in the fog. Repeat: there’s something living in the fog.

It may sound like a twisted update to the classic John Carpenter film — or a log line for the new Apple TV horror series “Widow’s Bay” — but these low-hanging clouds are indeed rife with living bacteria, according to new research.

The findings, published in a study in the journal Environmental Microbiology, showed that fog is teeming with so much life that the researchers liken it to a vast aquatic ecosystem unto itself.

“We found that millions of bacteria inhabit… fog droplets,” coauthor Ferran Garcia-Pichel at Arizona State University, told USA Today.

“When you take all of the droplets together, the concentration of bacteria is the same as in the ocean,” he added in a statement about the work.

UFO madness is reaching a fevered pitch….

You don’t see a UFO file drop coming. One day there’s nothing, and then – without a press conference, without a dramatic announcement, without anyone in a suit standing behind a podium – 162 classified documents are just sitting on a government website, free for anyone to read. That is, more or less, what happened on May 8, 2026, when the Trump administration published decades of military and intelligence records about unidentified aerial phenomena. No fanfare. No answers either.

At the center of those files, appearing again and again across decades of military encounters in deserts, ocean corridors, and combat zones from Iraq to the Arabian Gulf, is one particular shape: the sphere. Metallic. Silent. Often described as “super-hot” on infrared. Moving in ways that trained military pilots cannot explain and, in at least one 2025 case, covering 20 miles faster than a helicopter could follow. The silver orb has become, whether anyone in government is ready to say so plainly, the defining image of the modern UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) era.

First contact plan has been updated….

The IAA just overhauled humanity’s official first-contact protocols for 2026, and the new rules read more like a careful scientific process than a Hollywood blockbuster. No dramatic press conferences. No single scientist shouting “We found them!” Instead, you’d get months of quiet verification before any public announcement.

The updated protocols demand brutal scientific rigor. When researchers spot something weird—whether it’s radio signals or infrared signatures suggesting alien megastructures—they can’t immediately tweet about it. Multiple organizations using different instruments must independently verify the detection. Think peer review, but for potentially the biggest discovery in human history.

This isn’t just academic caution. Today’s information environment turns preliminary findings into viral misinformation faster than you can say “weather balloon.” The protocols explicitly recognize that unverified alien claims could trigger global panic or conspiracy theories that outlast the actual science.

This health news may be old hat but it bears repeating…..

A sweetener that many people use instead of sugar may not be as harmless as it seems.

New research suggests that erythritol, a popular ingredient found in many sugar-free foods and drinks, could affect the health of blood vessels in the brain and may increase the risk of serious conditions such as heart attack and stroke.

Erythritol is widely used around the world as a low-calorie sugar substitute. It is commonly added to products such as diet soft drinks, protein bars, sugar-free snacks, chewing gum, and foods marketed to people with diabetes or those trying to lose weight.

Remember Lunchables?

The Lunchables that millions of American children ate for lunch were engineered using the same science Philip Morris applied to making cigarettes. Not similar science. Not inspired-by science. The same researchers, the same labs, and in at least one case, the literal same industrial extraction process moved from one product line to the other.

Those documents form the basis of a major new study published in June 2026 in the American Journal of Public Health, led by Laura Schmidt, PhD, a professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. The research traces in precise detail how Philip Morris transferred cigarette technology, flavor science, and behavioral research directly into its food division during the two decades it controlled some of America’s most recognizable food brands. The findings reframe what tobacco and ultra-processed foods have in common – not as a philosophical comparison, but as a documented corporate history.

More on the magic ‘shroom…..

Dementia is a degenerative disease that no known drug can completely stop or reverse, despite decades of tests.

Now, a historically vilified psychedelic is emerging as a possible new avenue for controlling Alzheimer’s symptoms.

Neuroscientists around the world are starting to investigate if psilocybin – the psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms – can help protect the aging brain.

A recent case study in Brazil hints at that tantalizing possibility.

It reports that after a patient in her 80s with advanced Alzheimer’s disease took a high dose of psilocybin-containing mushrooms, she temporarily regained bladder control and the ability to speak beyond monosyllables.

The paper, written by neuroscientists in Brazil, is unfortunately light on some of the details.

But it suggests there were meaningful improvements in the patient’s cognitive and physical functions, lasting for several weeks after her doses.

Another ‘time traveler’ has given his look into the future….

A self-described ‘time traveller’ claiming to hail from the year 2198 has issued an eerie forecast about a forthcoming oceanic discovery that will supposedly transform humanity’s trajectory forever.

TikTok account @timetravelexplorer has generated buzz with bold assertions that a being, presently thought to exist solely in folklore, lurking in the ocean’s depths will be found within the coming two decades. The purported temporal wanderer has shared a chronological breakdown outlining when these revelations will take place, kicking off in 2044.
