Biden announced and now he must start in earnest to be the candidate that America needs (his words not mine)……but he is nothing more than policies of the Clinton and Obama…..corporate candidate of the first degree.
Dems need to find their candidate and not suffer at the hands like they did in 2016…..they, Dems, will NEVER regain their place among the American people it they lose twice to Donald Trump…..
But the burning question is….can Biden truly win in 2020?
Joe Biden has officially entered the 2020 presidential race. His case to win the 2020 Democratic nomination is fairly simple: As Barack Obama’s two-term vice president, he’s the most familiar brand in the field. He’s ahead in the polls (it’s emphatically not a tie for the lead with Bernie Sanders; Biden’s polling is quite a bit better). He’s also the best-performing Democrat in polls against President Trump, and he gains a lot of support from Democrats on the basis of his perceived electability. And while he might not be the most liberal Democrat, that isn’t necessarily a disadvantage; roughly half of voters in the Democratic primary identify as moderate or conservative,1 which could be a plus in a field where many candidates are running to the left.
Of course, this doesn’t mean Biden’s path to the nomination is easy. Not by a long shot. But before we start to poke holes in Biden’s candidacy, let’s ruminate on his advantages a little longer. There’s a case to be made that the media — in seeking out shiny new objects like Pete Buttigieg, and in ignoring the preferences of older, more working-class and more moderate Democrats who still make up a large part of the Democratic base — is overlooking the obvious front-runner in Biden. Arguably, in fact, media elites have the same blind spots for Biden that they had for Trump. There aren’t likely to be a lot of Biden voters in most journalists’ social circles, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there.
Let’s be blunt: As a supposed friend of American workers, Joe Biden is a phony. And now that he’s running for president, Biden’s huge task is to hide his phoniness.
From the outset, with dim prospects from small donors, the Biden campaign is depending on big checks from the rich and corporate elites who greatly appreciate his services rendered. “He must rely heavily, at least at first, upon an old-fashioned network of money bundlers — political insiders, former ambassadors and business executives,” the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
Biden has a media image that exudes down-to-earth caring and advocacy for regular folks. But his actual record is a very different story.
Hours after officially entering the 2020 Democratic presidential field Thursday morning, former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to head to the Philadelphia home of Comcast executive David Cohen for a big-dollar fundraiser that will reportedly be attended by Democratic lawmakers, the CEO of insurance giant Independence Blue Cross, and other high-powered party players.
Biden launched his presidential bid with a video condemning President Donald Trump’s response to the 2017 neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville and calling the 2020 election “a battle for the soul of this nation.”
“The core values of this nation, our standing in the world, our very democracy, everything that has made America America is at stake,” Biden said. “That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”
The media trope that portrays “Lunch-Bucket Joe” Biden as a regular, down-to-earth guy who cares deeply about regular folks is pure, unadulterated bullshit. His real constituents wear pinstripe suits and works on Wall Street and in corporate headquarters. They fly around in fancy private jets. And the supposed “everyman liberal” Joe Biden is their loyal apparatchik.
As you know, I think he is too old. And being an ex- Vice President doesn’t count for too much in my book either.
Best wishes, Pete.
Mine either….chuq
Pete said a mouthful!! He was once a VP, now he’s nothing – maybe he can’t handle that.
Sounds about right…..he is starting to look like he thinks he is entitled to the nomination…..not from me….chuq
OR ME!
I do agree with Pete, he’s too old. The Democrats have some candidates that are a lot younger…
Agree and we need a younger candidate that can speak for the younger voter…..chuq
And for the many Americans with a so called migration background.
Based on the current field and what I know now Biden would be my choice among the democrats But there is a long way to go before the primary.
True and a lot of ugly can show up until the nominee is picked chuq
Yepp. Ten minutes before I read that this Trump subject has passed the sonic barrier of 10.000 lies since his inauguration in january 2017…
A helluva thing for our prez……chuq
Black and brown voters who stayed home in 2016 and unintentionally helped Trump to win, will not wait in long lines for Joe, for the Vermont independent, or Tulsi. They may do so for Sen. Harris or for a Harris and Castro duo.
Interesting…..I will keep that in mind as I watch this story unfold…..chuq
On TV Biden’s hair and face looks like a wax museum replica of himself. Is it a makeup mask like orange man must use ?
It is called a “base” to cover the age lines….LOL chuq
I see. Won’t that cost him the retiree base ?
Appearance is 90% of the candidacy…..that has been proved out since the 1990s….chuq
